You can use this as a reminder any time things aren’t going the way you’d like them to or whenever you’re afraid of your current circumstances. I love this! It means you really do have control of much more in your life than you realize. If you can conquer fear by just changing your thoughts, then think about the power you have! Think about what dramatic changes you can make in your life.

The key here is to make certain that you can remember this thought any time you start to feel the fear – fear of anything.

Then you have to make sure you’re projecting the correct thoughts to the Universe. This means that you want to phrase your thoughts correctly. If you say “I am no longer in debt”, you are still focused on debt. Instead you want to say “I am prosperous, I have paid off everything I owe AND with an abundance of money remaining” and say it with feeling.

This may seem difficult to do when you’re experiencing fear but that’s why remembering that you can control this feeling and bring the Universe back to your side needs to be done as soon as possible. The longer you experience a feeling (whether it’s fear or joy), the more vibration it generates, the more momentum it gathers and the harder it is to turn around. I start reversing activity as soon as I start thinking that nudging thought that leads to fear. If you watch TV (I don’t because I don’t want to be constantly fighting the negativity and its effects on my subconscious mind), and you see an article about crime in your area, you may start to worry about whether you locked your doors and windows and whether that’s sufficient security, etc. As soon as any of those thoughts start to roam around in your brain, change your thoughts and partner with the Universe – “I live in a wonderfully safe location and house and am protected by the Universe”. Say this and other positive thoughts you have over and over again until you no longer feel the fear in your gut.

Repetition is key to this. You repeat the positive thoughts as many times as necessary to lessen your anxiety. Use this phrase too and edit it to fill in the appropriate parts for yourself and your situation – “Nothing and nobody can interfere with my health, well-being, peace of mind and prosperity, not even myself!” Make sure that you include that last part because most often it is ourselves that keep us from achieving what we set out to.

Try these techniques next time you are starting to feel fear.

You had a perfect course or action planned and everything was going fine and dandy. Then all of a sudden – poof! You’re knocked for a loop and off course. Now what? Do you just quit, crawl in a hole and mope? Or do you regroup and revisit your goals and plans? Do you feel as if you just have to start all over because your initial plans were so elaborate and thorough that you have no other options at this point? You’re not giving up but it will take time to get back on another course.

The first thing you need to do is declare it good – no matter what it is! Follow this with “everything always works out for me”. Then remember that you do not know what the Universe has in store for you. Think about people who have missed their flights and it turns out that plane crashed – this was never more evident than on 9/11. What if those folks had made it to their plane? What about the people who were late to work and thus were not in the World Trade Center buildings when the attack was made? Were they cursing that they missed out? Even if they were initially upset, they should have been very, very grateful after the event.

I think I’ve mentioned the one time I was working in Washington, D.C. and there was a snow storm coming. I had asked my boss if I could leave work early and he said “no” because we were having a special lecture. I was pouting for the entire session. When I finally got to leave, I was not able to go down I-95 as I usually did because there had been a 100 car pile-up when the storm blew in suddenly. Even though it took me 8 hours to get home via the detour, I was safe. Had I left when I wanted to leave, I would have been right in the middle of the mess and who knows what would have happened. The Universe was really looking out for me.

This year I ended up having a medical issue and major surgery and my training for the run across Tennessee has been completely derailed. Normally this would have bothered me a great deal especially because last year I had to pull out of the run at only 104 miles and have been mentally and emotionally preparing for it this year. Now, my ability to complete it has, once again, been placed in jeopardy. I could pout and sulk and be all upset….or, I could declare it good and remind myself that everything always works out for me and move on from there. I chose to do the latter. So, my training has been compromised quite a bit and I have absolutely no idea how I will do or if I will be able to complete this event.

But, you know what? It’s not the end of the world and it’s not even a very important time in the grand scheme of things in life. It’s an event and it will be there next year if I need to try it again. I do know that this will be one of the best times I have had in my life no matter what the outcome. I will be able to see people I haven’t seen in either 6 months or a year even and I’ll get to experience the kindness and caring of the people all along the route in Tennessee. The generosity and friendliness I saw and felt last year was overwhelming. These people didn’t know me from Adam and yet they wanted to do anything and everything they could to help me. They were supportive and caring and cheered us all on even though I was at the end. If I had just been mopey that I couldn’t complete the race, I would have missed the feelings I had from interacting with them. That was priceless to me. Yes, it’s just a “run” but the people and love you get to see and have touch you is more than you could ever expect. Do you think I want to miss that? Heck no! So, essentially it’s all about priorities. As I said, this is not a great priority when you think of famine and illness and poverty throughout the world. So, I’m not going to let the derailment get the best of me. I changed my plans and training and will simply enjoy whatever happens.

What’s your attitude when your plans get derailed? Where is your vibration? What can you do to feel good about whatever is happening to you? Step back and look at what’s happened and then ask yourself how important this thing really is in your life. Can you regroup? What needs to change in order for you to enjoy what’s coming up?

Perspective is what’s important. Then, next is knowing that whatever happens can be the best that ever happened to you – you just have to make it that way – declare it good! Know that the Universe is always taking care of you and that all you have to do is focus on the good and more good will come. It may not be what you initially planned but it will be good! Believe that and trust in what has happened and what will happen.

Enjoy your life!

Some prominent ones are listed in this graphic:

Work

Spirituality

Love

Health

Wealth

Friends

Family

Peace of Mind

Happiness

I’m sure there are others that you can add to your own personal list. We have to have a balance of all these facets of our life in order to truly be prosperous. If we spend too much time concentrating on one area, such as work, then the other areas are excluded or minimized. In order to be a well rounded, vibrationally secure person, we need to attend to all of these, not just one or two.

Remember the saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”? Well, that’s so much more profound than we know. If you direct the majority of your energy in one direction, you will become dull. You’ll use all your cortisol keeping yourself in one all encompassing plane. Usually when we concentrate on only one area we are in a high state of stress response regarding that aspect. We’ve talked recently about the adverse effects of chronic stress response on the body. We are meant to only activate the stress response in times of true threat. But the way we have adapted and adopted our hectic lives today, our bodies feel as if we are under a constant threat so the body responds appropriately. This is NOT healthy for us and eventually leads to exhaustion and even illness – this, then, switches our focus onto negative aspects requiring our attention to try to improve our health or life.

Take an inventory of each aspect of your life. Grade yourself on a scale of 1-10 in each area.

Once you’ve been honest about this, find out where you need to pay more attention. Do you have many friends? Or could you pay more attention to the friends you do have? Are you happy? If not as happy as you’d like, what can you do about this?

Spend some time on this and you’ll have a very balanced life.

I put this video from the TED talks 2015 up on Facebook yesterday but wanted to talk some more about it because I think Monica Lewinsky has an extremely powerful, heartfelt message that we can all learn from and perhaps even change the world by acknowledging or maybe even save someone’s life.

17 years have passed since the scandal she was involved in. She has just recently begun to speak out against cyberbulling and humiliation. Her message is poignant and it made me realize how easy it is to quickly type some words and hit “send” or “enter” or “post” and then just go about my business – never, perhaps, considering the consequences or effects of those words. But, we need to think about the consequences AND we need to think about them BEFORE we hit that button – no matter what it’s labeled.

One of her first questions to the audience was “could I see a show of hands of those of you who did not do something when you were 22 that you are ashamed of or wish you hadn’t done.” No one that I could see raised their hand. We all make mistakes. She fell in love with her boss. Her boss, however, just happened to be the President of the United States. And in 1998 the internet had begun to flourish even though it was before the social media age. So, she was bombarded with hate and contempt by people who didn’t even know her and people who probably were just angry at politics and using this situation as a vehicle for that anger and hatred. These people did not have to answer to anyone because, after all, they were “just posting their thoughts” on the Internet – what’s wrong with that? It’s easy to forget that there is a person at the other end – a real live person with feelings and capable of feeling immense pain and humiliation. Why do we fail to recognize or remember that?

Have you ever lashed out at a post or article on the internet, feeling safe and cozy in your own home behind your computer screen? Think hard before you answer. Then, if your answer is yes, answer this – who or what were you really lashing out at?

Ms. Lewinsky was so deeply affected by her public thrashing that her parents were afraid she would end her life. Can you imagine living as she has for the last 17 years? I can’t.

What can you do to prevent others from being so affected by the cyber-bullying and intimidation that is going on day in and day out? She tells the story of another young man who committed suicide after a video of him went viral. A valuable life lost for no good reason but that someone thought it was funny to post this video on the internet. How sad is that?

Compassion is a primary message in this video and one that I hope you take some time to consider this week (and even longer if possible). Who can you say or write something compassionate to? It may actually counter many shameful words hurled at the recipient. See what you can do and how you can influence others into remembering that there is a person on the other end of the virtual “line”.

It isn’t the money or the stuff — it is absolutely the amount of joy you feel.”
—Abraham Excerpted from the workshop: Lincroft, NJ on October 15, 1996

This concept is vital to your enjoyment of life. Did you know that you can feel so very good when you’re just imagining or visualizing a result (or even the process) and haven’t even attempted it yet! Isn’t that pretty cool? I think it is and I can tell you it’s a definite truth. I have used this with my ultra running events and have felt terrific as I’ve crossed the finish line for a 100 mile event while lying in my bed doing my visualization. The actual event might even be a let down if I’ve done the visualization correctly.

You can enjoy being a millionaire even before you make anywhere near that much money. You can feel just as if you had it in your bank account by knowing how you want to feel and how you will behave and think when it happens. In actuality, it doesn’t even really matter if it ever does occur if you’ve been thoroughly enjoying the process of feeling your way there.

The more you have these joyful feelings, the more you’re going to bring what it is you’re thinking about into your life. How would you feel if you had a million dollars? Write it down. Savor it. Write yourself a story about what you’d do and how you’d feel while doing it. I know that I have my own vision of what I’d do if I either had a million dollars or won the lottery and there is very little in this world that would make me feel as good as doing those things would. So, thinking about doing those things puts a smile on my face and makes me very happy and warm inside. Of course it would be great to actually have the million or the lottery but I can get great feelings and thoughts just by pretending I have it. Those feelings improve my health and happiness without having even one more penny in my pocket.

Practice this. Think about what you want and then “pretend” you already are there and have achieved whatever it is. How are you feeling? Are you smiling? Is your body feeling better? Let us know what’s happening in your life when you try this.

You want to enter 2015 with your life and attainment of your desires mapped out in detail and visualized. Even though December is usually a very busy month, why not consider changing your focus from holiday gifting and partying to creating your life and setting yourself up for success in 2015?

This not just about setting goals. Most of us have January come upon us quickly and we hastily throw together some things we think we might want to work toward in the coming year. But unless we prepare properly we may not be choosing the right kind of goals or might not be getting specific enough, or maybe not even deep enough.

So what’s the best way to go about this? I like to review everything that’s happened to and “in” me during the last year. I cherish my calendar for this. I have gotten into the habit of writing an amazing amount of information in my calendar. It serves as a journal of sorts. I have tried a separate journal but that doesn’t work. Since I have this great calendar program that has room for everything (notes, comments, addresses, journal of its own) that seems to be the best place for me to keep everything in one place.

I go back to the previous January in my calendar and I look at all at the events that I’ve had (even if I didn’t journal in the calendar, just noting the events would be sufficient for this purpose). I am always amazed at all that’s happened. As I’m looking at each thing, I ask myself where I was spiritually and emotionally at that time and then compare it to where I am right now. What has changed? What did I learn and how did it effect me? What changes have happened since then? How is my attitude different if it is? What would I have liked to have happened differently? Is this something I want to recreate but in a more successful manner? Or is it something that I’ve done and am done with?

It’s almost as if I write the story of the past year as I’m doing this. It really is revealing as long as you ask yourself the right questions and take the time to answer honestly – that is probably the really key thing – to answer deeply and honestly. Take your time with this. It’s very important – it will generate feelings and emotions as you go through the whole year. You’ll use those emotions as a gauge for where you want to go next.

Once you’ve done this, you can “feel” how you want your life to go on. You can determine what you want to happen in the coming year. Once you let your emotions guide you in that direction, you should then take the time to actually script out the results you’re seeking for the year. Write out your attitude changes, your life changes, your nutrition changes (I keep talking about that lately but it’s essential to have the right nutrition to feed your soul as well as your body), your exercise and work changes. What events would you like to have happen and what outcomes would you like. For example, would you like to change jobs or maybe retire? If so, get specific so you create the job or retirement situation you truly want ( you do NOT want a new job where you have to work even harder than you may be doing now; when you retire you want to be comfortable and have at least all the amenities you have now). Think through everything carefully.

Write these things down. Feel them. Get the momentum going. Keep this “story” by your side at all times and keep reading it. But remember that you can rewrite it as you go along. You can add more details to it; you can change details; you can change goals and outcomes or even delete a particular event if you decide that you really don’t want it; you can add things to it depending on what happens.

But the point to writing it out is to embed it in your mind and get the “engine” (Law of Attraction) going. You will be amazed how once you’ve take the time to get specific, list the details and actually script your story, it will come to pass!

Try it. Do a little bit each day or take a day on the weekend. Just do it though! That’s the important thing.

Let me know how things are going.

What we see is based on a number of factors.

1) What you’ve been taught (our beliefs)

2) What you’ve learned on your own

3) What you want to see (not always the same as what is really there)

4) The angle you’re looking from

5) Your eyesight – do you need glasses? Are you wearing glasses? Are they clean or do they have dirt on them that might be obscuring the situation/object? You’ve heard the expression about rose colored glasses.

6) Your needs

7) Your anxiety level or level of calmness

8) Your past experiences

9) Your vision – are you colorblind?

There are many variables that lead to two people looking at the exact same situation and yet seeing it differently. How do you look at things? Are you trying to be objective and understanding? Do you take your time to examine all aspects of what you’re seeing? Do you examine the surroundings, not just the object? What has happened in your past that could be biasing you in your observation of this particular event/object?

People look at illness differently. They look at bills/debt differently? You could say that almost everything appears differently to each individual person. There isn’t much we can do about it except realize that it’s a fact and then make another CHOICE in our lives – make a decision to look at everything from a positive perspective. There are people out there who do just that. Often times we criticize them, calling them Pollyanna or “goodie two shoes” (never did know what that means but it fits here). But these folks have the right attitude. Make the best out of everything should be our motto every day. Why? Because we want to activate the Law of Attraction to bring us more good things, not bad things.

I got started on this fairly early in my life – again, before I knew anything about the Law of Attraction. I developed these weird symptoms and was treated for a year for something it wasn’t. Finally I was sent to the neurologist who immediately said I was having seizures. That, by itself, was a big shock (but also a relief because now “it” had a name). However, he then told me that I either had epilepsy or a brain tumor and ordered a brain scan (back in the days when that was all they had to examine the brain). When I went back for the results he said I had epilepsy. I was never so happy to hear that diagnosis because it was much, much better than having a brain tumor. I have continued to be grateful all my life for a few reasons. My seizures have been completely controlled since I started on medication and I have had experiences (from the medication) that I have used to help me understand my patients better. I have had overdosages on the medication giving me strange feelings (symptoms) and even once I had to be put in the hospital. These events also helped me with dealing with my patients. If I had not experienced them, I wouldn’t have been able to understand what people go through when they talk to their doctors and the doctors don’t understand or pay attention to them. So, not only was I able to directly help individuals but also teach interns how to be more understanding and patient.

I was happy each time that I was alive and ok and that it would just take some time to recuperate and then I’d be back to normal. Each time I get an illness or injury, I look to see what it is that I can learn from it and how can I help others.

When you look at debt do you see the money you owe as helping others? Try it and try praising the money as it goes out into the universe in order to spread more wealth and abundance across the world. The money is being used to pay individuals even though that may be hard to see when paying big companies. But try to drill down and see the person opening the bill and then another one writing a check for their weekly groceries or being able to purchase school items for their kids, etc. There are so many ways to look at the bills you have and the money you are paying out. If you are blessing it and being grateful that you’re helping others, you will become more prosperous as the Universe returns blessings to you.

Try looking at things differently this week. Take a look, also, at how you’ve looked at things throughout your life. You’ll learn a lot about yourself for sure.

But, in reality, we have “asked” for everything that’s shown up in our lives. That’s how the Law of Attraction works. It works the same way whether we’re aware of it or not. We do have the ability to create the life we want. And, in fact, we have created everything in our lives. That’s hard to stomach in many ways because people will inevitably say “I didn’t ask for that illness or injury. How come it happened to me?” You can choose to move, to stand still, to bend and sway or be rigid. You can choose to harbor resentments, anger, hatred or you can choose to embrace love, forgiveness, happiness and joy. I have gotten to the point where I cringe whenever I read/hear the word “hate”. That is such a very strong and powerful word. It indicates how intense your feelings are about whatever it is you’re hating. To me, that’s a very difficult point to get to. I used to use that word a great deal and then I started to pay attention to how it made me feel when I said it. It actually gives me a funny feeling and almost the “shakes”. Once I realized that reaction, I knew that was a sign that it was a very destructive emotion for me. So, I avoid it wherever possible. I also try to examine my soul for feelings of resentment. Resentment, in our opinion, harbors the cells that grow beyond belief and eat the rest of the cells in the body. You can tell that’s a mechanism of action when you hear many people say “that’s really eating me.” When you continually harbor these bad feelings and thoughts, you stuff them down inside (so they all can fit) and they get bundled up and more resentments are piled on top. This becomes a “mass” and it is not a useful mass. One resentment and bitter feeling feeds on another.

Try to go through your life’s inventory and see if you’re harboring any resentment or bitterness towards anyone or anything. Write down things that bother you. How often do you use words like “hate” or “despise”? Write them down. then ask yourself if they mean what they did when you first developed them? If they have increased in intensity, your “mass” is increasing and you want to make sure you make a conscious choice to improve your feelings.

Think back as far as you can and see if you can identify each individual choice you made that got you were you are today. Play the “what if” game and see what would have happened in your life if things had gone this way or that.

Once you’ve written them all down, see what choices you are currently making but don’t even think about. Then determine if these are choices you want to continue making. If not, decide what you want. I choose health, I choose happiness, I choose peace of mind, etc. Once you’ve made these general choices, you can refine them into specific choices. For example under “I choose health” you might have I choose to stop eating processed foods or something similar (maybe just that you’ll eat out less often – you can start small). Just be aware that you can make a choice and should make a choice to be in control of how you feel and think.

Don’t get angry about this. It’s the way the law works and it’s a good thing too because you DO have control over your own life even if right now you don’t feel that way. You can choose to feel cruddy about something or you can choose to look at other areas of your life and be grateful.

Today’s topic is courage!

Here’s some definitions of courage:

“Strength in the face of pain or grief.”

“The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.”

“The power or quality of dealing with or facing danger, fear, pain, etc”

Here are 6 attributes of courage (from Melanie Greenberg, PhD:

Feeling fear yet choosing to act

Following your heart

Persevering in the face of adversity

Standing up for what is right

Expanding your horizons, letting go of the familiar

Facing suffering with dignity or faith

All I really know about courage is from observing friends who have displayed immense amounts of courage. I don’t think I’m a very courageous person BUT I do believe I am so very blessed to have people in my life that repeatedly demonstrate courageous acts day after day, minute after minute. They live in a courageous mode.

Ideally we would like to not have to be in any situation that requires courage. We’d create a world where everything goes perfectly and smoothly and nothing bad comes into your life that requires a demonstration of courage. But, since the Law of Attraction and the other Universal Laws are not taught in our childhood as they should be, we develop multiple limiting beliefs that create situations in our lives that will require courage.

I know two people who, in the last 9 months, have been diagnosed with cancer and have endured the treatments with an upbeat attitude despite the pain and discomfort they’ve had to experience. I admire them both and feel honored to know them.

There is one woman I’d really like to focus on today. She received her diagnosis and projected plan of action about 4 months ago. After the initial shock, she realized, as she put it, she didn’t have any “choices”. She just had to get up and go with the flow, finding a way to maneuver her work and life schedule in and around the treatment schedule the medical professionals set up (without consideration for our personal lives at times). She dealt with delays that not only created more anxiety but also interfered with conduct of her work schedule. But she took each one of those at a time and handled the situation in an extremely professional manner. She continued in her outside activities. Both her work and these outside requirements were in service of other people. I am sure that this helped because she has spent her life giving and not taking. She is an exceptional person in that regard. I know of nothing she does that has a selfish motive or intent – NOTHING.

Your first question after hearing about how great she is would be “So why did the Universe give her cancer if she’s so good?” That is a great question and similar to “Why do kids get cancer? What have they done wrong?” I have many theories regarding these questions but none of them is proven so let’s just suffice it to say that there have been forces in life that have brought this disease about.

The more important issue right now is the immense courage of someone like my friend who refused to give up and when they wanted to do something else, she let them, knowing they had her welfare in mind. It was still extremely scary and difficult for her. She had friends and acquaintances around her to help when she was “down” but she still had to endure all of this on her own. That’s what it boils down to – do you have that something deep inside that you can draw upon in order to help you put one foot in front of the other?

She could have given up. She could have said “I don’t care anymore”, “I don’t want to go through all this so I’m just going to curl up in my bed and not come out.” Many people do that and sit around all day wondering “why me”. My friend didn’t allow herself to do that. She mustered up all her internal resources – her strong immune system, her amazing will, her desire to help others, and her realization that she just had to go on. It turned out that this immense will to go on living the life she had been living pulled her through at least the first phase of treatment. She experienced fear, pain, uncertainty, anger, bitterness, despair, feeling of loss of control and multiple other emotions (as you can imagine perhaps – I can’t possibly imagine what it felt like inside of her). She dealt with each emotion, handling it head on and finding a pathway around it. She conquered everything. I don’t like to talk about “battling” something because that puts more energy into it. To conquer, however, is the outcome. Although she has more waiting and treatment to go, she is taking it one step at a time.

I think the “one step at a time” is crucial in talking about courage. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by trying to deal with everything that you’re getting bombarded with. When we’re overwhelmed, the next “logical” step is inaction or circling the drain, not accomplishing anything positive. When we stop, look at alternative thoughts and actions, we are more able to break it down into measurable activities that you can work with.

Take one part or one emotion and deal with that. If you’re depressed, think about why and if you can do anything to mitigate that depression. What would make you feel “differently”, not necessarily “better” in your mind. Remember that it’s an emotional scale so any movement up that scale is considered positive action even if the emotion is not normally considered positive. For example, anger is a step up from depression on the scale. So, can you work yourself into being angry about something?

Forcing yourself to look closely at these things and take some sort of action (even if it’s just getting mad), is the embodiment of courage in my opinion. I applaud anyone who is dealing with any adversity in their life and my friend has my highest accolades. She has been just amazing through the past 4-5 months!

What have you had to show courage in during your life? Put the answer in the comments section and let us know.

Get out into the sunlight — out where everything is — with a vibration that is so dominant that those who annoy you; those who don’t agree with you; those who make your life feel uncomfortable don’t come into your experience, because your vibration — through your practice — has become so clear, so pure, so clean, so in keeping with what you want, that the world that revolves around you just feels like that. That’s what you planned.
—Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop: San Rafael, CA on March 09, 2001

If you’re thinking that I don’t write about anything other than vibrations, you could be right… ha ha. But, that should show you the importance of working to get your vibrations to the highest possible plane.

I can attest to the validity of this statement – when I can get my vibration up above all the daily worries and problems (that I create much to my chagrin), the day goes so much more smoothly. You would think I’d be able to remember that in the morning. You’d also think I’d be able to remember that I create the havoc and hectic environment I’m experiencing right now. I do know it…I just don’t remember it in time to change things.

So what should I do to improve my vibrations?

One easy thing is to do segment intending. Before I get out of bed I should “pave” the way for at least the first part of my day even if it’s just running. The whole point is that you do this paving of your day segment by segment. Before I leave for work, I should pave my ride to work so it’s smooth without red lights or traffic. Then when I pull in the parking lot, I will segment intend my first interactions and even extend to the first meeting or two. I’ll do this before I enter the building. When it’s time to pave the way to another segment I’ll go into the restroom and pave another segment (don’t you wish all road construction was this effective?) and on and on.

Another thing I can do is write in my Book of Positive Aspects each night to write the positive things about the folks that I am creating that havoc with or around. That’s worked well in the past for me. I need to work it on a regular schedule.

So, my goal this week is to raise my vibrations to the point that’s talked about in the quote above. We’ll see what happens! I know this stuff works but as they say “you have to work it”.
