What a Divine Surprise!

I just have a minute before I head on out to work but wanted to share something with you.

Where I work we’ve been short a doctor for over 1 1/2 years now and we’ve been swamped (it’s administrative so don’t worry that we’re hurting patients). I’ve been coming in very early and working on weekends throughout that entire time just to get the job done.

I work in a government job so we don’t get overtime (and if anyone needed a bailout, it was us but that’s another topic). I was just accumulating comp (compensatory) time. Which is funny because if you’re so short staffed that you have to work extra, how can you use up the comp time? Oh well.

Anyway, the administrator where I work is phenomenal and she tracks all these things and found out that for some reason I wasn’t accruing any more comp time in the computer even though I was working extra. She’s fantastic at taking care of us and tracked down the cause. And, of course, since it’s a government job, the reason laid buried in some law somewhere that physicians were no longer able to get comp time….no explanation at all – just a statement.

But, unbeknownst to me (is that how you spell it) I had been paid over $8000 in December for all my back time! Amazing.

I could look at it as a negative that I can’t keep accumulating comp time since I still have to come in extra and be all upset about it, or,

I could have looked at it as if I had a mission I had to accomplish and I just went to work – and look what a terrific surprise that was to me!!

It really is all in how you look at things and think about them.

Off to work (early of course)…..

Have a great day – I know I will.

More about metaphysics

“What is manifesting (in the metaphysical sense of the term?)”

“What is the meaning of Metaphysics?”

“What is the importance of Metaphysics in my life”

“What should I know about Metaphysics?”

The dictionary states: ‘To become clear or obvious to the eye or mind. to cause to happen. todisplay or show (a quality or feeling) by one’s acts or appearance; to demonstrate something you desired or feared. (according to your expectations)’

In New Thought the word manifest is used loosely to describe something that is occurring in our lives or in someone else. We can manifest happiness or we can manifest misery. We can manifest poverty or we can manifest wealth.

The study of metaphysics is the study of the spiritual laws that are constantly moving to produce according to our thoughts, words, or beliefs. Thus, the importance of understanding that we have created everything in our life. (what is in a child’s life is determined by his parents beliefs until he begins to make his own decisions at about the age of twelve.)

Positive or negative comments register in the subconscious of infants (some people believe even before the child is born) from words they hear from others. When we begin the study of our lives, it is wise to look at previous events to determine what we have attracted in the past. From that we discover beliefs we choose to enhance or beliefs we choose to eliminate. For this we use denials or affirmations.

Denials allow us to say, “I no longer choose to believe that I am (weak, unhappy, selfish, stupid, etc. )” and remove all limiting words.

Affirmations then are added to strengthen the qualities we wish to express. “I am now choosing to believe I am strong, happy, giving, smart, etc.”

To know how energy expresses through what we think allows us to choose the kind of life we want. We can choose to attract what we want and eliminate what we don’t want.

“Let Go and Let God??”

So many metaphysical teachers tell you to “let go and let God”. Other state that you need to “detach from your goal in order to have it”. How do you do this?

These two phrases are to be used at two different times and not for the same situations.

“Let go and let God” is when we are having worries. It serves to take your mind of the problem so the problem can work itself out. (Remember I always suggest using the word “problem” and not “challenge” as many metaphysicians do.) The reason is that every problem has a solution and the word challenge indicates a winner and the rest are losers. Also, challenge has a perception of struggle and/or difficulty, Problems, when you know the correct formula, are simple to solve. Accept that you have the formula which is: asking, visualizing, accepting and giving thanks.

The phrase “detach from your goal” means to expect results but without worrying about how its coming to you. I suggest that as soon as you have asked, begin to say, “thank you that my result is already on its way to me”. That helps to build your faith in your own affirmations.

Hope this helps some!

Books for beginners…

I especially love the earlier authors and books written from about 1900 to about 1950. They are very clear in their explanations and don’t have today’s “hype” words that are frequently taken out of context.

Some examples are:

  • Emmet Fox
  • Joseph Murphy
  • Ralph Waldo Trine
  • James Allen
  • Glenn Clark
  • Venice Bloodworth
  • W. Frederick Keeler

And of course, the founders of the early 3 New Thought organizations.

  • Malinda Cramer, founder of Divine ScienceCharles and
  • Myrtle Fillmore, founders of Unity
  • Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science

Any of these will give you a good start. They were prolific writers and each book will further enhance your understanding. Most of them have recently been reprinted.

Read them more than once.

Each time you will get something that you didn’t understand before. It’s the proverbial “onion skin” being pulled away to reveal more of the real you inside.

I still read them and get something new each time.

Because of the different writing styles the slightly different wording gives insights to different areas of how the laws interact. You’ll say “Oh, that’s what he meant.”

This is not difficult.

It is practicing discipline until we have it all thoroughly ingrained in our subconscious.

We just have to “undo” some of our beliefs and “enhance” new ones.

That is part of the mental discipline required.
