Inspiration Knows No Age Limit – Diana Nyad Is Trying Again

diana2 Diana Nyad is such an inspiration to myself and to so many others. She has just jumped into the Ocean in Cuba to begin her quest to fulfill a 36 year old dream – to swim from Cuba to Florida – approximately 103 miles.  No one has ever done this except a long time ago using a shark cage. Diana is going to do this without a cage. But what’s interesting is that sharks, although still a very present danger, are not her biggest threat at this point – the life threatening Box Jellyfish are. For the past 3 years her attempts have had to be aborted because of these creatures. But she didn’t let the dream die despite these aborted attempts and near death experiences. She persisted and didn’t mope – she allowed herself time to grieve about the events but then got back in the saddle and started planning for the next attempt – but she took what she learned from each event and worked to find a solution. Then she tried again, learned more from the incomplete (not failed by any means – define failure in terms of what Diana has done) attempt and went to work going for another solution. She sought out experts in Box Jellyfish and they’ve come up with another way to protect Diana’s face – last year they created a body suit that protected her body but she was still pummeled by these creatures around her neck and face – painful and life-threatening. Now she has a mask to wear at night which will make swimming so much harder BUT hopefully will keep these little buggers from inflicting their massive stings on her with their venomous poison.

What can we learn from Diana Nyad? So so much…..

1) That you should NEVER give up on a dream no matter how old you are. You really CAN do anything you want.

2) People will stand beside and behind you if you just continue to keep your integrity intact and abide by the rules – whether they be rules of nature or rules of humans. Do NOT step on others to get to your goal. 130831-0850-DianaArrivesInTaxi

3) Don’t let “problems” stop you – don’t use them as your excuse – use them as stepping stones to find solutions, knowing that all solutions that are found will benefit humanity (not just you) no matter how small they seem.

4) You will not find a solution if you look at it from the problem mindset. It takes a different mindset to switch to solution mode. Start thinking about what the possibilities are to conquer x, y, z.

5) Never give up but allow yourself time to “get over” and experience any grief you might have about not achieving the goal at that particular time.

6) Talking about what you’re doing and what you want to do will help others even if you don’t know it. There are people out there going through difficult times that may just hear your story and your perseverance at just the right time to help them keep going. You do not have the right to give up on your dream. God (Divine Mind) put this idea and goal into your soul for a reason. It is yours! So take hold of it and achieve it.

7) Much, much more…what have you learned from her or from anyone who has been your inspiration? What keeps you going?

Keep following this amazing woman for the next three days and just know that she WILL walk onto the shores in Florida after over 60 hours of swimming.

Law of Attraction – Rule #10 – Thank You!

loa rule 10Ah – we come to Rule #10 – the last in this series. Of course, you can make as many rules as you’d like. One (of many) definitions of the word “rule” is: “a principle or regulation governing conduct, action, procedure, arrangement, etc.”. A rule is not a law. The Laws of the Universe are not things we make up. They exist no matter how much we try to deny them or change them. When trying to understand this, always remember the Law of Gravity and then go sit under the apple tree :-). But the interpretation of how to work with these Laws (or even the man-made laws) is set down in rules that we create. So you see, I have presented these 10 rules on how to get the most from working with the Law of Attraction. I have found them the most effective over the years and even more importantly the most consistent.

So what the heck is rule #10? It’s the most important rule in the Universe and the most powerful force in the Universe – GRATITUDE! Showing gratitude all day long as much as possible will bring you everything you want. It’s like the Energizer Bunny for the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction will work no matter what you do. However, we want it to work FOR us, don’t we? Of course we do. You can start small and see how it snowballs in your life. Start by being thankful that you woke up and that you have a house, your health, family, pets, friends, automobile, job, whatever in your life. Even if things are not perfect for you right now, they are a lot better than they could be gratitude-journal120x150and they are certainly a lot better than they are for many people around the world. Find something! This should not be that hard. Then as you go throughout the day continue to be grateful no matter what. Get stopped at a stoplight and you’re late? Be grateful anyway. Say “thank you for having me stop at this stoplight. I know there is a divine reason and I am grateful for it even if I do not know what it is at this moment.” I tell the story about the time I worked in Washington, DC and lived 60 miles south of there. One day it had started to snow and I had asked my boss if I could leave early (people in that area do not know how to drive in the snow and even if they did, there are a whole lot of them out there). He said “no” because we were in an important class. Naturally I was grumpy and moped around until we got released. And yes it took me 8 hours to get home that day. But you know what? If I had left at the time I asked him, I would have been right in the middle of the 100 car pileup on Interstate 95 that the snowstorm led to. Instead I was just inconvenienced by a longer drive home – but I was safe and sound. The Universe was looking out for me even though I didn’t have any idea of what was happening or what would have happened to me had I left when I wanted. Instead of grumbling I should have been praising the Universe. I did that later but it would have been more effective had I done it when I was told I couldn’t leave. Remember the mantra “everything is always working out for me”. Say that over and over. It will be the topic of a separate post soon.

Start a gratitude journal. You can combine your gratitude journal with your pleasure journal if you want and it will become a very powerful tool. Especially if you carry a small notebook around with you all day and are continually writing both your pleasures and your gratitudes in your notebook.

You can also use our Gratitude Journal software program (for the PC) we created for everyone to use.

I bet that if you keep track of your gratitudes for the next month, you will see a remarkable change in your life. Try it. What do you have to lose?

Your Pleasure Journal

book_with_tabs_text_11043I have to credit Cheryl Richardson with this wonderful idea. I learned about this just the day before yesterday while on a run (great place to learn about new things – trouble is always remembering them by the time you get home..ha ha).

The concept is that we should be paying attention to what is happening and what we are experiencing now, right now – NOT what we “might” experience when x, y, z happens. I think experts cause this being “present”. If you combine this paying attention to the joy you are having at this moment with the idea of seeking pleasure, you can have a beautiful day every day and you don’t have to wish for or wait for the future. You really can have instant gratification as long as you are willing to look at things differently.

Make finding pleasure in your day a priority and record it every day. You can use your Gratitude Journal or have a completely separate Pleasure Journal to record all the pleasurable things in your life. These are not necessarily big or major things although that could be great too. It may be things that you do every day but until you pay attention to what you do all day long you don’t even realize what pleasure this thing brings you.

I’ll give you a perfect example. Today was my “long run” day and my plan was for 14 or 15 miles. It started out ok but I quickly realized that for many reasons it was not going to be a good day. What were my options at that point?

  • I could stop and turn around and go home – NOT an option at all since I wanted to at least cover the distance
  • Continue on and just mull over how cruddy the run was and how I wasn’t getting my endurance back or how my breathing was bad or whatever negative thing I could find – that would have made it an even more miserable day comedy_tragedy_400_clr_1629
  • Continue on and find things to enjoy starting right then when I made the decision – this is what I picked. Why?
  • I wanted to do the distance but I didn’t want to be miserable for all those hours
  • I wanted to apply this “finding pleasure” concept and see what a difference it made
  • I had plenty to “work on” on my MP3 player and in my mind and wanted to take advantage of that
  • It was a beautiful day and I was so grateful that I was able to be out there and running even if it wasn’t as well as I wanted. At least I was still out there.
  • I wasn’t going to build my endurance by complaining, griping or moping around

You know what? It ended up being one of the best runs ever – not because my endurance or breathing improved because they didn’t but because I looked for so many things to find pleasure in. There were several times it clouded over so the mid nineties temp didn’t feel like that any more. There were times I stopped on the way up the hills because of my breathing but I used those opportunities to send myself emails with reminders on stuff I had just read or thought of (for my upcoming program). So, instead of just standing there swearing at myself, my body, my doctors for my situation I moved up to the positive end of the emotional scale and excitedly journaled my ideas in an email. Did that help my time or endurance? Heck no…lol…of course it didn’t. But since it was already a day that would not go in any record books, I was making the most of it and enjoying the heck out of it.

So what are some of the things I’m making as my first entry in my pleasure journal? Forgive some redundancy.

  • The breezes coming up the hills on the way out and then on the way back
  • When it got overcast, it felt so beautifulfigure_standing_on_blank_note_text_10947a
  • I got great ideas for my new program and was able to remember them by sending myself emails (it was too bright out to use the recorder like I did yesterday)
  • I listened to several audios that I had been wanting to listen to
  • The sun was glorious and it felt so wonderful to be running in the sun, feeling it generate sweat on my body – that felt outstanding
  • I saw my “friends” the long horn cattle that I had not seen before last week. I talked to them again this week.
  • I had the courage to ask someone to open a bottle of gatorade for me – it felt so good to stop struggling and just approach a terrific gentleman and ask him to do it
  • My cold water tasted so refreshing as long as it stayed cold
  • I loved having my phone with me and being able to use it for notes/emails

And then there were more pleasure entries when I got home – especially that exceptional salad I had been looking forward to and much, much more.

Even though I only wrote down a few items, there were multiple times that each of some of them occurred, e.g. drinking the cold water, feeling the breeze, exalting in the sun shine etc…

Try it. Get yourself a journal, carry it with you, and record your pleasures as the day goes along or at the end of the day.

Thank you Cheryl Richardson

Law of Attraction – Rule #9 – Corollary – Time Expands To Fit Your Needs!

rule 9 corollary “I never have enough time”. “I can’t afford the time.” “I don’t have time to fit that in”.

Have you ever thought these things? Have you ever said them out loud? I bet you have. Most of us have.

But if you think about Rule #9 – “There is Always Enough” that applies to time as well.

Change your thoughts and beliefs and realize that Time Does Expand To Fit Your Needs. Think about it. Why wouldn’t that be the case since we believe in the law of Supply and Demand. When you have to get something done, you do – it may be at the last minute but you get it done. If you relax and meditate, visualize and use the Abraham techniques, you’ll get it done with much more time to spare and much less stress. clock_pie_chart_clip_400_clr_5729

We want to enjoy our lives and most people, when asked, want “more time” with their family or their kids or do to things they enjoy – time often leads to happiness in people’s minds. At least that is what we perceive as happiness. And perception is reality.

So, if you want to feel as if you have all the time in the world, use that affirmation over and over again – especially when stressed. If you use EFT, it is great to tap while saying it “Time expands to meet my needs”. “I have all the time I need and want”.

Try this for a couple of weeks and see what happens. Be consistent and don’t just wait until you “need” extra time. Say it repeatedly throughout the day.

Law of Attraction – Rule #9 – There’s Always Enough!

rule 9 aThis is one thing that people tend to forget – or more likely are programmed from childhood to not believe. Remember when you were always told to clean your plate because there are starving children in Africa or China or someplace else? What that did right away was instill the concept that there “isn’t enough to go around”. This idea couldn’t be further from the truth. The Law of Supply and Demand is always in operation and the Law of sufficiency is also always in effect.

All you have to do is Ask, Believe and Ready yourself to receive. See – these are the same concepts we’ve been talking about all through the “10 Rules”. When you have fear that there isn’t enough, then you push it away and it doesn’t manifest itself and therefore does NOT materialize. You have to eliminate the fear and remember that these universal laws are much more powerful than you are. You just have to allow it in.

Every time we experience some sort of need or demand, someone discovers or invents a solution. Look at the fuel issues. When it seems (and it is only a perception) that there is a shortage of oil, research and development on alternative  iStock_000015593024XSmallfuel sources speeds up and new items and techniques are invented. Look back through history and the majority of time this occurs. Penicillin and other antibiotics were developed when diseases came forth. So why haven’t we been able to find a cure for cancer or AIDS? Well, look at the question a little better. We actually can cure some forms of cancer. And we are so much further in treating other kinds than we were in the past. Same goes for AIDS – there are many treatments now that prolong and improve quality of life. But the reason we haven’t found a “total” cure is that we have what’s called “Race consciousness” – it’s the mass belief that cancer is incurable. So, although there are many people working day and night to come up with a cure, they are held back by the fear we have about cancer or AIDS.

Always know that there is enough out there to fulfill your order and bring you what it is you asked for. If you thought of it, it can be created and that’s the bottom line. You do NOT have to worry about where the supplies or money or anything are going to come from. The Universe will provide. So please don’t ever think that you can’t have something because you don’t see evidence of great amounts of whatever it is surrounding you! It’s there for sure. Your job is to follow these rules believing that whatever you order will be delivered to you.

Take that information and let it wipe out your limiting beliefs about lack.
