It’s NOT really about presents and gifts although the unexpected gifts are the most fun (like mine last Friday night) and those that you bestow upon others are really the best!

This is a day of birth – Christmas is the birthday of Christ. But what does Christ represent to you? That is what’s really important about today. Just as with your birthday, your life can start anew today. Christ is within all of us and that is the Spirit Divine – the Universal Mind.

Take at least 5 minutes today and don’t you dare say that you “don’t have time” – you have plenty of time and can spare 5 minutes. In those 5 minutes you can accomplish a great deal:

Start by 30-60 seconds of gratitudes – what are you most grateful for? Be specific, really drill down. Is it health, is it friends, family, having a job, pets, etc? Writing them down will be more powerful but you can say them in your mind too.

Follow that with 7 sets of deep breathing – 5-7 count (seconds) in, hold for 5-7 seconds, exhale for 5-7 seconds and repeat 6 more times.

Set an intention – “Show me what my true purpose is”, “Reveal to me the truth about my true purpose”, “Grant me the wisdom to know what to do about _______”, “Lead me to whomever I can help the most today – physically, emotionally, financially – make me a match between someone’s needs and my abilities”, etc. Pick a focus for the time remaining.

Sit quietly (or if it works better for you, you can do this while exercising – many people get their best ideas and inspirations while running) for the remaining time and ask for these ideas and inspirations to come to you.

At the end of the 5 minutes, say “Thank you for the Divine Ideas” and then go about your business.

Don’t despair if nothing comes to your during this time period. It will come because you’ve put it out there into the Universe.

Remember that although these ideas will come from within you, today is really about what you can do for others. That is the most rewarding part of every day. Change your thoughts around and love what you’re doing for others!

Enjoy your day!

Take every day and every part of every day and Love What You’re Doing. This is in conjunction with “Do What You Love” – why should we be wasting the days of our life by doing things which we do not like to do. Can you try for a week to actually make a decision to Love What You Do? How hard would that be. Let’s say you’re out exercising and you’re not really “into” walking or running. Can you just decide to Love IT for now? What would that take out of you?

I look at all these amazing ultra runners around me and see that they must be in some sort of pain from all the miles they have covered. But you know what? It doesn’t show at all. They are being supportive, friendly and appear very happy every time I saw them. So, despite the fact that they are in pain, they obviously love what they are doing. And when you do love what you’re doing, then it simply radiates from your being.

Why don’t you take it one hour at a time starting today – say to yourself that “no matter what I’m doing, I am going to love it.”

At the end of the day ask yourself how you felt throughout the day. Did it make a difference? Were you happier? Did it make things easier? Did the people around you seem different (which might actually simply be a reflection of how you feel)?

Let me know how it went. Then try it again tomorrow, ok?

I have trained for a year for the New York City Marathon and should have already been in New York to be enjoying it right now. But….Hurricane Sandy blew into town and put a damper on all of that – literally.

It’s been a week of ups and downs – not knowing if it was going to be held and then elation when it was announced that it was still going to be held. So I got busy changing plans and making/confirming reservations. That was teamwork for sure – people all around me helped me get organized and know who to call and in what order (I mean why change plane reservations if I had no place to stay so you start by finding out if the hotel is operational etc). I am so grateful to everyone who worked with me this week (and all year actually – more on that in another post).

Yesterday I spent putting the final touches on my packing and getting things ready in the house etc. I actually finished and had the suitcase in the car and my knapsack by the door.

I sat down to wait for my EFT appointment with Kay and had some time so I started looking at the New York City papers online. That’s when the Universe continued to pull things together for me. I had been most concerned about figuring out how I was going to get from the airport into the city with the traffic problems (on a weekday). But when I started reading the comments about how it was wrong to have the marathon this weekend, my conscience kicked in again (it had been wondering about the propriety of doing this in the face of such devastation but I kept rationalizing that they did it after 9/11 – but that was 6 weeks later, not a few days).

I was even more conflicted by the time my appointment came.

So, instead of talking to Kay about my fears about the race, we talked about my indecision and my not knowing what the right thing to do was. By the time we were done tapping, I had become more at peace with a decision not to go. Why? Well, I felt it was selfish of me to go to fulfill something personal and not pay attention to the grief and troubles facing the entire region. Yes, my not going was not going to change the world or the event but it was me living up to what I felt. I can’t explain it and maybe that means I made the wrong decision. I really don’t know but it doesn’t matter now because I hit the “cancel” button so it’s done.

Kay was great in telling me something so vital in dealing with the pain I felt (I have never felt such pain – it was definitely multi-factorial). Abraham says “Make a decision and make it right”. I am trying to do that.

So, why am I hurting so much? Why is there such pain for a simple race? What am I really feeling?

Disappointment, loss, grief, feeling of letting others down (it’s even worse because I found out afterwards that my personal trainer is going to NY and was doing that to surprise me and also propose to his girlfriend – I felt really bad after that but there was nothing I could do), emptiness, “what now-ness” (my term), sense of failure, incompletion, etc.

How do I deal with this disappointment?

So many things pop into my head but they are all just jumbled….

What do you think? Comment below….

It said “There is one very powerful business rule. It is concentrated in the word courtesy.” I thought that was just phenomenal in it’s simplicity while being so powerful in its message.

It was even more significant because every time I’ve been in this bank, I have been treated as if I were the President of the United States. I could understand that happening once but every time? It’s strange that I’d been in there so many times and yet not paid attention to the sign until that day.

I was so impressed that I asked to speak to the manager when my transactions were completed. She came out and I told her that her staff definitely embodied the Wells Fargo Business Rule. I also asked for the address of someone above her so that I could write to them.

To be even more emphatic, I received a thank you note from the manager for stopping to say something to her. I thought that was very special.

Here is one schoolbook definition of “courtesy” – “Willingness or generosity in providing something needed”. It also means “Polite behavior” or “A polite gesture or remark.”

These people treated me special. They met my needs, were friendly and caring. I don’t really care what the schoolbook definition is, that’s what I call exceptional courtesy.

What is courtesy to you? Have you seen alot of it in your business encounters. Do you have any pet peeves?

I have a pet peeve – when I was brought up, I was taught to say “you’re welcome” when someone said ‘thank you’ – nowadays it drives me nuts when people simply say “No problem” – I am trying to find a good comeback for that but I guess that wouldn’t be very courteous, though, would it…LOL.

Post below if you have something to say about courtesy.

In fact, most everything was numb in most of us. Such is the human body’s reaction to tremendous trauma like we experienced that day. Not that there has been anything like that in most of our life times. But were all those lives lost in vain?

If you didn’t change your life and your outlook on life after that fateful day, then yes, they were lost in vain.

That was a day when we all questioned the existence of a good God, Higher Power or Divine Mind. You’ve read how we tell you to say “I declare it good”. How could we possibly declare that event good? You have to look at tragedy and know that something good will come from it. This applies not only to the world but to you and your daily life.

Please take some time today and do two things. One is to remember the bravery and selflessness that was exhibited all over our country that day, especially in New York where no one ever thinks good things can happen.

The second thing I want you to do is to look at how your life has changed because of that day. Did you realize that you must live each day to the max – that there may not be a tomorrow? Did you realize that we are not alone and that selfishness does not get us anywhere? That when the chips are down we must take care of and support each other? Perhaps you learned not to be so judgmental? Or maybe it was to tell people you loved them at every possible opportunity?

I encourage you to post below any memories or thoughts you have regarding that day in America – never forget the sacrifices and courage exhibited in New York, DC and Pennsylvania on 11 September 2001. Post your feelings and thoughts. What motivated you that day?

For those of you not in the United States, post how that day has affected your life as well.

We will never forget and we learn from the stories of strength and survival.

I read a post by a colleague yesterday. The title of it was “live every day as if it were your last”. He told the saga of the past few months and his mother’s diagnosis with terminal cancer. However, even if you are in the best of health today, make sure you live today and don’t put off what you want to do or whom you want to talk to. Do it now, do it today! Live your life today. I have found myself commenting lately that “I really want to do x, y, z after this computer project is done” – then I stop and think that I really need to do what I want today and not wait. I’ve put off too many things in my life as it is. Don’t you make that mistake. Do you hear people say (or yourself) “when the kids are grown up, then I’ll do a, b, or c”? Life is way too short to wait to do what we feel compelled to do. Do it NOW!.

This is a very poignant phrase to live by given our history 10 years ago this week. It’s so hard to believe it was 10 years ago. But we were all going along on a sleepy morning when all of a sudden the world was turned on its head. As Alan Jackson wrote “Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?”. This week please think about what in your life has changed since 9-11 and what you have done to make every day more meaningful. Post in the comments if you want. You can post anything – memorials, thoughts, prayers, etc.

Enjoy your day and please pray for rain here in Texas.

I am not really one to be excited about phrases such as this. But this phrase can really take on another meaning that I encourage you to adopt and use more than one time a day. It can be modified to help you remember the meaning and what you’re supposed to do. How does “Think outside your box” sound?

The idea for this modification came as I was walking with my dog and we passed a house that was watering the lawn in the middle of Stage 3 water restrictions. I began to wonder how important a lawn is compared to having water to drink. My mind then immediately ran to images of hurricane Katrina where people were desperate just to get a bottle of water and they guarded one bottle as if it were gold. And you know what? It was gold to them. They couldn’t survive without that bottle of water. The lesson from that one image is that “the box” is different for everyone. So when you tell someone to “think outside the box”, you need to figure out what their box is.

That’s one change to the phrase “think outside your box”. Remember that others may not be thinking on the same wavelength you are. You must define “the box”. If you’re a leader, whether it be a leader in business, in sports, or in your family, define the box before you instruct someone to think outside it.

But there’s another meaning to “think outside your box”. I want you to think about other people and what they need or what their circumstances are. Back to my initial thought about the water restrictions for a second. I wondered what the people in that house thought about when they turned on their sprinklers. Was it “I really want my lawn to look beautiful so that others will think well of me”? Or, “I paid big bucks to put that lawn in, I don’t want it to die because then I’ll have to shell out more money to replace it”? What about “Well, others do it so there’s no problem with my doing it”?

Do you think that just before they hit the sprinkler switch (which is probably automated but had to be changed when the stage of restriction was elevated) they said “maybe I don’t need to water my lawn, it would be better if I saved water today so that someone will have water to drink tomorrow”? Think about others with every move you make and every word you utter. What will the impact of your actions be on others? Many of us are taught, unfortunately, to think only about ourselves and what results our actions will have FOR us. This does not put out the really positive vibrations the Universe wants from us. If you think about our actions and words and the impact they will have on others, I guarantee your behavior will change. Using the water example again – do you let the water run while you brush your teeth? Do you know how much water is wasted when you do that? Estimates are 1 gallon of water. That’s a whole lot of water. What effort is required to turn the faucet off when you don’t need it? Will that help others? Maybe not today but maybe in a few weeks or months. It’s not all about instant gratification even though that’s what we’re after today.

Use “think outside your box” to remind you to practice gratitude every single day in every single way. When you do think outside your own box, you have to think of others and that, by itself will lead you to expressing gratitude for all that is surrounding you. The phrase will also remind you to “do” for others. If you’re outside your box, you have to think of others and what you can do for them. The more you give to others, the more you’ll receive from the Universe.

Remember to “practice what you wish to become”. This is a meaningful quote by Dr. Kunath.

We tend to look at flaws more than we look at the beauty that is mixed with the flaws. You can change your life and your emotional well-being simply by declaring everything that happens good. Let me show you.

No matter what happens simply say “I declare this good, I see the good coming out of it.” Keep saying this over and over and you will soon begin to believe it. Remember that you create your own life and situations. So, if you continue to condemn everything, you will simply get more of the bad stuff. No one really wants that but to respond negatively to things has become our way of life. Look at the News – how much good stuff do they report? Not much. They are simply into “blood and guts”.

Give yourself a little challenge with the news. It is usually best to not watch the news especially while you are training yourself to think and talk differently. But, this is fun to do if you discipline yourself for it. Watch the news one night (this is easier than reading the newspaper but you can use that too). Every “bad” or “doomsday” story they put out should be followed in your head with “That is not my truth. I declare this good and I definitely see the good coming out of it.” See how you feel after you’ve done this for the entire one-half hour or hour show that you’re watching. Your energy level will have soared instead of plummeting.

The Law of Supply and Demand works hand in hand with this technique because it will provide all the supply you need for any demand you have. Look what happened when we first started to experience problems with an oil shortage (or at least rapidly rising prices). The hybrid and electric cars were created. Someone looked at that situation and said “I declare it good” instead of sitting there going “oh no, what are we going to do?”. This has happened all throughout history in medicine and technology and any other field you investigate.

There was once a woman who had been married to a man for over 25 years and eventually found out that he had been cheating on her for the entire time. She was devastated naturally. But her faith got her through the situation and eventually she found the man of her dreams who took care of her in every way she ever wanted – much more than the one she had been married to. Of course, she could have lamented those 25 “wasted” years but that would have done absolutely no good since they can not be retrieved and the negative energy would crack the wonderful good happening in her life now.

Take your time and practice this. Keep at it. No matter what seems bad in your life simply say “I declare it good and I see the good coming out of it” and whenever it comes into your mind trying to bother you, repeat that phrase over and over again until you’re actually smiling. You’ll be amazed at your results.

This has been another tip in making metaphysics work for you. Practical metaphysics is a way of life that will allow you to change your life and lead you to the highest pinnacle you wish to attain. Learn a step by step guide to implementing practical metaphysics at The Art of Making Things Happen

I decided to explain why I’ve been ‘away’ from the blog even though it might turn people away.

I am discouraged posting on this blog and have felt that my efforts should be focused in other areas of my life. Why have I been discouraged? Two reasons really:

Because NO ONE comments or lets us know that they even read our posts. It’s sort of like writing letters to people repeatedly and never getting a response. That gets very discouraging and suddenly you say “why bother? People aren’t reading what I write so why should I continue?”

Secondly is because this is a business and people don’t seem to want to spend any money on what we have to offer (which is quite alot). We have tons of products that would help people and they are all very reasonably priced, if not under priced. Yet, people just want “free” information. That is discouraging to a business owner. It seems the more we give, the less they are interested in buying information to improve their lives.

Education is not free and should not be free. How much of the free classes do you actually put into effect in your life? But if you pay for something, its value increases and you’re much more likely to use it and apply it. I did not go to college or medical school for free and I spent over 15 years paying back the loans I had to get to go to school. Would I have changed that in any way, shape, or form? Heck no! Do you want a doctor to treat you who got all his information from the Internet – wikipedia and google? I sure don’t. This is one problem with people who try to treat themselves. But that’s another story.

Anyway, I feel that our primary product – “The Art of Making Things Happen” is a premier product and will enable anyone to achieve whatever they want in life. The people who have made it a part of their digital library have had nothing but great things to say about it. Check it out.
