Make Every Situation a “Win-Win” Situation

winwinThis will be a quickie because I have to leave for the airport soon (headed home – yeah!).

This title was planned a while ago but it’s certainly extremely timely.

I’ve been at this publicity summit for the past week – completely out of my comfort zone!!!!! Talk about anxiety (which of course I lessened using EFT).

I wanted to quit on Wednesday because I wasn’t well prepared and didn’t feel I was doing very well. However, as “fate” will have it, I met the most wonderful man who sat and talked with me for over a half hour helping me understand that what I was feeling was normal and “ok”.

He kept me going but then there were all the terrific people in the room that also kept me going. I don’t think I did very well with the media but I sure did really well with all the people that were surrounding me. What an amazing experience.

I was also able to give back to the people who were around me, reaching out to help them too. I had a great time and now have lots to follow-up with and plan but at least I know the direction to go in!

What more of a win-win situation could there be.

Talk to you later…gotta run for the plane.

Your Next Chapter

next chapterI also could have titled this “Starting Over” because that’s what it really is about. I have been completely inactive now for almost 12 weeks – that’s THREE months.  And I was getting very discouraged because in the last two weeks I felt I was getting worse – my feet were hurting more and I felt unsteady walking. I finally realized that my unsteadiness is from markedly decreased muscle strength, which is from inactivity.

So now my job is to figure out how to combat the pain (which is not specifically from my fractures) and to build my strength back up.

But what I also realized was that when I do get the strength back and hopefully will also be able to combat the pain, I will almost have to learn to run again.

That could be depressing and for a little while I was depressed but that didn’t last. Because I also thought about how fortunate I am and have been to have been able to run for as long as I have. But on a less fatalistic note, I also thought that this does NOT mean I won’t be able to run again. It just may take awhile and I have to be patient. I’ve never had a fracture in my lower extremities (let alone 4 of them) and I’m older now. So I really don’t know what to expect. I’ve had to walk on these feet all the while they have been trying to heal too.

Patience is a word that is not normally in my vocabulary. However, it’s going to have to become a major part of it now.

It might be time to write a new chapter of my life. It might be a continuation of the same chapter or it might be completely different. I also know that whatever it is, it will be a gift for me to work with and package up to be as beautiful as the gift (actually it’s gifts) I’ve already been given.

It does no good to lament any loss. It’s more important and useful to embrace the new chapter and look forward to what’s going to come with it. Doing so with happiness, joy and a wonderful outlook will put that Law of Attraction into motion and bring me wondrous things.

The thing I think we sometimes forget, though, is that the memories and thoughts about the past are there and can be used in whatever way you want them to be used.  You can use them to feel sorry for yourself or you can use them to experience joy and help get your vibration up to assist you in making the most of your new chapter! Memories are great when you want to experience the old days but don’t dwell on them and do the “poor me” dance. Enjoy them and be grateful you had them and know that you’ll have more.

Starting over can be a good thing. You can learn new methods or skills and you can influence people in different ways. Your purpose might even be able to be better fulfilled in this new chapter. I often think about the greatness of those that experience tragic illnesses or injuries and can no longer do what they have trained to do all their lives and then go on to do something even more special and impactful.

Turn that page!

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1                                    when you feel like quittingI think this is a great saying for all of us to remember at any point when we are having second thoughts about something.

If you started whatever you’re doing for a good reason, then there’s still that reason and it should propel you to keep going. Ask yourself what it was that made you start this project and why was it important to you.

Then it’s legitimate to ask “is that original reason still valid?” If not, then you might want to consider deep-sixing the entire thing. But if it’s still an important reason and you still feel strongly about it, then ask yourself what it is that’s holding you back or making you want to quit. Has it become difficult (or more difficult than you anticipated)? If your reason is still important to you, then you can certainly overcome “difficult” – maybe you just need a different approach. Or maybe even just take a short break to regroup. But if it’s still important to you, you really do not want to quit.

I’m pretty sure I wrote about wanting to quit my July race at 298 miles (with only 16 to go). People do not believe me when I say that I would have been at peace with that and was at peace if my crew had let me quit. I would not have had regrets and would not have second guessed myself. I had had 4 1/2 days to think through this even though it hadn’t been something I wanted to do at that point. But remember I was doing these 4 1/2 days on fractured feet (I didn’t know that – I just knew that they hurt like the dickens). So I had had plenty of time to think about it all. I had made peace with myself and was extremely happy with what I had already done so I could live with it.

But with the publicity seminar I’m going to this week, things are different. I wanted to quit but it was simply out of fear. I realized this yesterday. The reason I wanted to go was still valid. I was just afraid. That helped me regroup and reset.

Try it and see what happen.

Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone

comfort zone4 How many times in your life have you had an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone?

How many times have you done so?

Take a minute and sit back and think about your answers. Then think about why you might not have taken that step (if that applies to you). What was the underlying reason?

Most of the time the reason a person doesn’t step out of their comfort zone is due to some sort of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of change, fear of embarrassment, etc.

Remember, though, that when you fear something, you are really attracting it more of it.  So, stop a moment and ask yourself if you really want more fear in your life? You really need to “dumb down” things like that. Once you’re wrapped up in the situation, it’s hard to break everything up into the appropriate pieces in order to work on them one by one. And you have to work on them one by one in order to make any inroads.

That “breaking down” process is the same as the one I talk about when addressing how to accomplish your goals.

I have the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone this coming week and actually will be stepping out of it because I’m going to New York to participate in an event where I will be presenting short sound bites to several members of the media. I am not comfortable with that at all. I have three different topics and that adds to my anxiety.

But what I’ve realized I have to do is simply take a piece of paper and a pencil (or use the computer) and listing the different parts of the anxiety and then what I’m afraid of and then what to do about it.

What’s the problem/situation? What am I afraid of? What am I going to do about it?
I have my “pitches” but don’t have
the follow-up information down.
Stammering because I don’t know
what to say or how to answer their
questions
 Write down my information before
I need to practice it
I don’t think I know enough  Looking like a fool  Say my favorite affirmation, use
EFT and realize that I do know
enough about these topics and
that it’s just my fear that’s
blocking my thought processes

And of course there would be more rows with all my concerns listed – how I look, do I have the right clothes etc.  There are many of these that it’s just too late too do anything about so what good does being concerned with them  do.

Take some time if this is an upcoming issue for you and try this technique.

Hope it helps. I know it’s helped me.

Practice What You Wish To Become

practice 2Dr. Anne Kunath is my long time friend, mentor and former business partner (til she had the nerve to retire…ha ha). This phrase of hers has stuck with me all these years (way too many to admit to). It also fits with the theme of the week.

At first glance this may seem difficult. After all, if you could be like that (practice), then you wouldn’t need to become it would you? However, if you break it down into every day life, you’ll see how simple and powerful it is.

Little boys want to become major league baseball players. So what do they do? They practice. And they don’t practice being bad, do they? Heck no. They practice being the best they can possibly be. You can even see the cute little fellows strutting around in their professional looking uniforms acting like they are walking into Yankee Stadium. They walk and act much differently in these uniforms than they do in their everyday jeans. As a parent (or a coach or a friend or mentor), though, your job is to encourage them to act the same way (have the same strut so to speak) all the time, NOT just when they are wearing their uniforms.

You’ve heard the phrase “act as if”? Well, this is essentially the same thing but worded differently. If you want to abundant and prosperous, find out how others who are prosperous act. It could be that you desire prosperity in only one arena such as wealth or health or maybe you are reaching for prosperity in every area of your life. Regardless of what you’re after, find qualities that people who are as prosperous possess.

You can use segment intending to help you practice what you wish to become. Each morning and before each segment of your day, envision exactly what you want to happen in that particular section of your day. If it’s a meeting and you’re seeking to be heard more, see that happening using the specifics of the agenda for the meeting. This can be done in the rest room, at your desk, in your car, in your bed, or anywhere you have a few minutes. Keep a journal of how often you do the segment intending and the results. As with anything else, it will get better the more you do it. You are, in essence, telling the Universe what you want. Then you can just allow the Universe to bring those results to you.

Every day revisit your goals and desires. You should have then written out and you can take them with you in your wallet. But, if you, at least read them once a day, you’ll have them ingrained in your subconscious. This, along with your practicing the right behaviors and thoughts, will bring your goals into your life.

Try it, it’s not really that hard.
