<p>This quote from Abraham is a good one for you to remember to focus on what you do want. It&#8217;s the contrast vs clarity concept. If you&#8217;re not feeling well, ask yourself what you DO want. Believe it or not, some people do not necessarily want to get better. There are advantages for them to say unwell. But the majority of people do want to be better.</p>
<ol>
<li>Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle.  On the left hand column put the word &#8220;contrast&#8221; and on the other column label it &#8220;clarity&#8221;.</li>
<li>Write down the things you&#8217;re not happy with on the left hand side (contrast). Just list them for now.</li>
<li>Once you&#8217;re finished with listing the items under the Contrast side, you can dig deeper and list why you aren&#8217;t happy with them. What are they keeping you from doing or feeling.</li>
<li>Now that you&#8217;ve dug a bit deeper, move over to the &#8220;Clarity&#8221; side. Here&#8217;s where you will have to take some time.</li>
<li>Ask yourself what you want instead of the item on the left hand side
<ul>
<li>Why do you want that (&#8220;so that I can&#8230;&#8230;&#8221;)</li>
<li>What will be different in your life if you have what you do want.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: left;">                    ***This may not be as easy as it appears. There are feelings and desires in this process. You really are going to examine why         you want what you say you want. You may surprise yourself.</p>
<p>After you have listed the things you want on the right hand side you&#8217;ll be able to make your affirmations and know what it is you want to concentrate on. This fits quite well with your script for the new year. If there is something in your script that you&#8217;ve now realized you need to change, go change your script. This is a valuable part of the creation of your new year, new life.</p>
<p>Try these steps. When you focus on what you do want, your vibration increases and you&#8217;ll be able to tell the Universe what to work on for you.</p>
<p>Remember, the &#8220;better feeling way&#8221; too.. This means try to move up on the emotional scale. For example, anger is higher on the emotional scale than depression.  It&#8217;s not what one would think of when you say &#8220;better&#8221; feeling but it really is. Anger involves movement of energy inside you whereas depression doesn&#8217;t. So, when you&#8217;re angry, you can then work on moving up to another level even if you do so slowly. Always try to do something that feels better, no matter how slight.</p>

<p class="bq_fq_a">We are all so wrapped up in what&#8217;s going on around ourselves that we really ought to take time and step back to see what&#8217;s going on in other people&#8217;s lives. You might be surprised. You might also be able to make a significant difference in their lives.</p>
<p class="bq_fq_a">People frequently don&#8217;t want others to know that they are going through difficulty or that hard times have befallen them. But, if you pay attention and if you know the person at all, you will be able to tell. It&#8217;s obvious in their demeanor and behavior. They don&#8217;t smile as often. They don&#8217;t stand as straight and tall as usual.  If it&#8217;s  coworker, maybe there&#8217;s a change in their reliability or promptness.</p>
<p class="bq_fq_a">Take a good look around you. Being nice to someone is really very easy. And you don&#8217;t need to worry that maybe you&#8217;ve read them wrong &#8211; being nice is not predicated upon someone being bad off. It&#8217;s good to be nice to people no matter what!</p>
<p class="bq_fq_a">The whole idea is to open your eyes and search your peripheral vision. Take off the blinders and look all around you as the Holidays approach. Give someone a dollar if they&#8217;re asking for it. Reach out. Pick a charity you want to support this holiday so that others may do some good. What can you give up (a cup of coffee or two perhaps) so that someone could have a meal. Don&#8217;t laugh. Often it doesn&#8217;t take much more to feed someone. Every penny, every dollar makes a difference.</p>
<p class="bq_fq_a">When I was in New York in October (and then again in DC later that month) I became really interested in the homeless population. I could never fathom sleeping on the streets in the cold and wet, not knowing where my next meal was coming from, not knowing where to attend to private issues. It&#8217;s something we should NEVER allow to happen in our country. We give so much money and aid to other countries while we have desperate people lying right outside our city buildings in great need. Why does this happen? Why can&#8217;t we be a rainbow in their clouds.  I feel very drawn to this cause but am not sure how to make a significant difference. But, I digress sort of. Sorry.</p>

What usually happens, though, is that we don&#8217;t pay attention. We don&#8217;t slow down enough to actually &#8220;hear&#8221; what that message is.</p>
<p>So, then we go along and repeat the exact same action &#8211; as they say &#8211; we just &#8220;rinse and repeat&#8221;. Guess what? The Universe will deliver whatever it is we&#8217;re paying attention to and focusing on. More of the same comes our way.</p>
<p>Instead of just walking along blindly, falling into the same hole over and over again, slow down or even stop and take a look at what life is trying to tell you. What are you supposed to be hearing? Could it be that you should be more patient? How about less judgmental and more accepting? Maybe you need to learn how to say &#8220;no&#8221;. Maybe you have to develop outside interests. Maybe you need to pay more attention to your health. Any of these and more are possibilities.</p>
<p>Eventually the Universe will get your attention. But you really don&#8217;t want it to get this far, do you? Why experience so much more misery? If you could slow down, listen and make on the spot corrections, then your life could be so much more simple and happy. It&#8217;s &#8220;ok&#8221; to have one bad experience but why go through it so many times?</p>
<p>When you do stop and take some inventory, you will most likely uncover many of your limiting beliefs. Frequently people who experience abuse repeatedly are either a product of abusive childhoods or believe that they deserve to be punished &#8211; for just about anything and everything. This is a significant limiting belief and unless you uncover it and work to get rid of it, you really will just repeat history.</p>
<ul>
<li>Figure out what&#8217;s happened to make you unhappy at this particular moment.</li>
<li>Swallow your pride and listen to what others have to tell you about the cause &#8211; even if you have to hear that you&#8217;re not the greatest at something or that you have a fault that warrants correction. Although it&#8217;s not easy to hear that now, it&#8217;s much better than to experience the same tragedy over and over again.</li>
<li>Evaluate what others have told you. Put it up against what you think might be going wrong. Was it you? Was it someone or something else? But always remember that we attract EVERYTHING into our lives and it&#8217;s our job to figure out what that was and why we keep attracting it. That&#8217;s where a large majority of your time should be spent.</li>
<li>When you&#8217;ve made that evaluation list, examine it and see if you can uncover some of your limiting beliefs? What are they? Go as deep as you can. Do you feel unworthy of love or money? If so, why?</li>
<li>Once you&#8217;ve discovered these limiting beliefs see if you can identify other events in your life that were based on the same limitations.</li>
<li>Write down the limiting beliefs (or other reasons you think this has happened).</li>
<li>What are you going to do about it? What actions are you going to take? Maybe you admit that you have to take responsibility for what&#8217;s happened and you make an attempt to change the actions or thoughts that have caused the problem.</li>
<li>Start a book of positive aspects if it involves other people. Remember to write at least 3 things a day about the other person. I think you can also try this for a situation too even though it was developed for problems with people.</li>
<li>The important thing is to journal (even if it&#8217;s just jotting short notes) of what happens, what you think, how you&#8217;re changing (or not), what you want to keep doing, and what the results are. Write it all down so you can learn from it later.</li>
</ul>
<p>Try this and stop being a slow learner. Move up the ladder in life by making the changes.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re going through a bad time right now, this saying is for you.</p>
<p>Can you look back on your life and examine any time where it seemed as if everything was falling apart but things ended up being better than they ever were before. During the crisis you thought that your world was ending and you&#8217;d never be happy or have anything again. But, often, after months or even years, you&#8217;re happy again. What&#8217;s up? How did that happen? Somehow you made it through the rough times and were able to make the most of the situation. As you were experiencing it, you were able to express to the Universe what you really wanted, put emotion into it and the Universe delivered.</p>
<p>Often when you are faced with dire circumstances, your brain waves get you going in the direction of yelling out (figuratively and often literally) what you really want. This is in contrast to the moping and concentrating on the lack in your life. You turn the corner, even if it&#8217;s for just a few seconds and shout it out that you want abundance &#8211; abundance of whatever you&#8217;re missing (love, friendship, peace of mind, money, work, etc). In that moment, you are concentrating on the good and stating what you want. Believe me when I say that the Universe listens when you put all that emotion into it. It perks up because it&#8217;s hearing something different from you and it immediately begins to &#8220;fill your order&#8221;. It begins working to bring you what you really want. Often, that moment in time is a turning point for you and you may not even realize it. You&#8217;re able to make it through all the bad times because you&#8217;ve realized (even it only subconsciously) that you don&#8217;t want the bad stuff, but you want the good stuff. Now that is what you&#8217;re going for &#8211; and you vow to not quit until you get that. If you can hold that focus, then you&#8217;re all set. The Universe will bring it to you pretty quickly (remember the Law of Gestation, though. Everything has it&#8217;s own time to come to you).</p>
<p>Try to remember this when you are considering going back into the slump you were in before. Remember to reach for a better feeling thought. That doesn&#8217;t mean you have to be PollyAnna but you can just try to think something a bit better. This is where diversion is often helpful for getting to that better feeling thought. You can also remember that the Universe will bring you what you&#8217;re asking for and if you continually vacillate from wanting the positive to lamenting your lack, then the Universe is like a warehouse attendant that takes something off the shelf to fulfill an order and then has to put it back up there when the order is changed. And on and on.</p>
<p>Keep the &#8220;ordering&#8221; process in mind no matter how bad things get and adamantly state what you want &#8211; and what you really do deserve!</p>

<p>Most importantly, though, you need to assess your life as it is right now. How are you feeling? Do you feel complete? Do you feel as if something&#8217;s missing in your life? Are there other things you&#8217;d really like to be doing? Why do you think you&#8217;re not doing them or why haven&#8217;t they come into your life?</p>
<p>Most likely the answer lies deep within &#8211; in your inner belief system. And it&#8217;s usually your limiting beliefs that get you and hold you back. These limiting beliefs have led to habits and repetitive talk (internal and external) that gives the universe various messages about what you really want. Thus, you are attracting those mixed messages and not attracting what you really want. Usually that&#8217;s because of some &#8220;I don&#8217;t deserve better&#8221; belief that&#8217;s been ingrained in your inner being for so many years.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not advocating &#8220;therapy&#8221; or rehashing all that&#8217;s happened in your past because we already know that if we do that, we&#8217;re likely to attract more. But, it&#8217;s important to think about why we do or think certain things.</p>
<p>One way I&#8217;ve found that helps is to create your affirmation for whatever you want and then say it. If your mind comes up with a &#8216;but&#8217; then fill in what comes after that and that will be your limiting belief. For example &#8220;I am a millionaire&#8221; followed by &#8220;but that could never happen to me. Plus, what if it did? Would I have to work harder? I don&#8217;t want to work harder?&#8221; See how several limiting beliefs are buried in the &#8216;but&#8217;?</p>
<ol>
<li>It could never happen to me (aka &#8220;I&#8217;m not worthy&#8221;)</li>
<li>followed by a belief that if you make a lot of money you have to work hard.</li>
<li>there&#8217;s also the possibility that you&#8217;re thinking that to succeed in anything, you have to work hard and you don&#8217;t want to.</li>
</ol>
<p>You could go further if you took the time to fill in everything in the &#8220;but&#8221; statement but this was just an example.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter what the cause is for the limiting beliefs &#8211; that&#8217;s where therapy gets everything hung up.  All we want to know is what&#8217;s standing in the way of you achieving the life you want &#8211; i.e. your limiting beliefs.</p>
<p>This process could get a bit discouraging as you uncover all your &#8220;buts&#8221; but (ha ha) just look at it as a list.</p>
<p>More importantly, you want to start writing a real story about how you really want your life to be and what you want to happen.  I recommend doing this in story format &#8211; as if you&#8217;re writing a script for a play or movie. That allows you to get colorful and specific. The more color and excitement you generate the better you feel and the more your vibrations and momentum get going in the right direction.</p>
<p>I would also suggest you keep writing but if you feel a &#8220;tug&#8221; when you get to some particular part, then don&#8217;t stop but put a star by that section so you can go back later and examine it for limiting beliefs.</p>
<p>Try writing your story for the next six months (or even for a month if you&#8217;re very skeptical) first. Read the story over several times and edit it as you go along. When you&#8217;re happy with it, read it once a week and make any necessary changes. Then write the next story &#8211; you might want to expand it to a year.</p>

But, once we&#8217;ve embraced the metaphysical teachings, including the Law of Attraction, we have to accept the fact that we really are the ones responsible for everything that happens in our lives.</p>
<p>Although it&#8217;s much easier to externalize the blame or put the responsibility elsewhere, it&#8217;s not correct. And it&#8217;s definitely dis-empowering (not sure that&#8217;s a word but it says everything).  If other people or other circumstances are responsible for what happens to you, then you&#8217;re like a little bobblehead doll just sitting there waiting for someone to shake you. You can&#8217;t move until you&#8217;re shaken. Do you want to live like that? I know I don&#8217;t.</p>
<p>I met a man last week and joined his coaching program. I got the distinct impression when I met him and (and when I talked on the first coaching call) that he didn&#8217;t like me. In the past, I would have just moped around saying to myself (or anyone who would listen) that he didn&#8217;t like me&#8230;.which translates into &#8220;poor little ole me&#8230;&#8230;blah blah blah&#8221;.</p>
<p>Now, however, I have a much different approach &#8211; instead of accepting that conclusion (which, by the way, has no real basis), whenever I start to have that thought I continue to say to myself  &#8220;if that&#8217;s true, it&#8217;s my job to change that and I can do that&#8221;. That makes it my responsibility. It means I have to take the action to behave in a way that would turn his opinion around, not just sit and wait and &#8220;hope&#8221; that he&#8217;ll change and magically start to like me. It&#8217;s all within my power.</p>
<p>This type of situation often occurs when there are abnormal family dynamics too. If you sit around the BBQ and listen to people talk, it&#8217;s always &#8220;the mother-in-law&#8217;s&#8221; fault or the &#8220;sister&#8221; or someone else. Instead, stop and look at what your part is in the dynamic. If you&#8217;re not even part of the disagreeing parties, then you should probably just stop even talking about it. If you are involved, consider using the Book of Positive Aspects to see what can be changed about the situation. Every day write down THREE things about that other person that are good. Sometimes that might be hard but you can even resort to things like &#8220;he/she is always clean&#8221; or something of the sort until you can come up with another more meaningful positive attribute.</p>
<p>Take the responsibility for your life and your actions. It will make all the difference in the world.</p>

<p>At first glance this may seem difficult. After all, if you could be like that (practice), then you wouldn&#8217;t need to become it would you? However, if you break it down into every day life, you&#8217;ll see how simple and powerful it is.</p>
<p>Little boys want to become major league baseball players. So what do they do? They practice. And they don&#8217;t practice being bad, do they? Heck no. They practice being the best they can possibly be. You can even see the cute little fellows strutting around in their professional looking uniforms acting like they are walking into Yankee Stadium. They walk and act much differently in these uniforms than they do in their everyday jeans. As a parent (or a coach or a friend or mentor), though, your job is to encourage them to act the same way (have the same strut so to speak) all the time, NOT just when they are wearing their uniforms.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve heard the phrase &#8220;act as if&#8221;? Well, this is essentially the same thing but worded differently. If you want to abundant and prosperous, find out how others who are prosperous act. It could be that you desire prosperity in only one arena such as wealth or health or maybe you are reaching for prosperity in every area of your life. Regardless of what you&#8217;re after, find qualities that people who are as prosperous possess.</p>
<p>You can use segment intending to help you practice what you wish to become. Each morning and before each segment of your day, envision exactly what you want to happen in that particular section of your day. If it&#8217;s a meeting and you&#8217;re seeking to be heard more, see that happening using the specifics of the agenda for the meeting. This can be done in the rest room, at your desk, in your car, in your bed, or anywhere you have a few minutes. Keep a journal of how often you do the segment intending and the results. As with anything else, it will get better the more you do it. You are, in essence, telling the Universe what you want. Then you can just allow the Universe to bring those results to you.</p>
<p>Every day revisit your goals and desires. You should have then written out and you can take them with you in your wallet. But, if you, at least read them once a day, you&#8217;ll have them ingrained in your subconscious. This, along with your practicing the right behaviors and thoughts, will bring your goals into your life.</p>
<p>Try it, it&#8217;s not really that hard.</p>

<p>You can use this as a reminder any time things aren&#8217;t going the way you&#8217;d like them to or whenever you&#8217;re afraid of your current circumstances. I love this! It means you really do have control of much more in your life than you realize. If you can conquer fear by just changing your thoughts, then think about the power you have! Think about what dramatic changes you can make in your life.</p>
<p>The key here is to make certain that you can remember this thought any time you start to feel the fear &#8211; fear of anything.</p>
<p>Then you have to make sure you&#8217;re projecting the correct thoughts to the Universe. This means that you want to phrase your thoughts correctly. If you say &#8220;I am no longer in debt&#8221;, you are still focused on debt. Instead you want to say &#8220;I am prosperous, I have paid off everything I owe AND with an abundance of money remaining&#8221; and say it with feeling.</p>
<p>This may seem difficult to do when you&#8217;re experiencing fear but that&#8217;s why remembering that you can control this feeling and bring the Universe back to your side needs to be done as soon as possible. The longer you experience a feeling (whether it&#8217;s fear or joy), the more vibration it generates, the more momentum it gathers and the harder it is to turn around.  I start reversing activity as soon as I start thinking that nudging thought that leads to fear. If you watch TV (I don&#8217;t because I don&#8217;t want to be constantly fighting the negativity and its effects on my subconscious mind), and you see an article about crime in your area, you may start to worry about whether you locked your doors and windows and whether that&#8217;s sufficient security, etc. As soon as any of those thoughts start to roam around in your brain, change your thoughts and partner with the Universe &#8211; &#8220;I live in a wonderfully safe location and house and am protected by the Universe&#8221;. Say this and other positive thoughts you have over and over again until you no longer feel the fear in your gut.</p>
<p>Repetition is key to this. You repeat the positive thoughts as many times as necessary to lessen your anxiety. Use this phrase too and edit it to fill in the appropriate parts for yourself and your situation &#8211; &#8220;Nothing and nobody can interfere with my health, well-being, peace of mind and prosperity, not even myself!&#8221; Make sure that you include that last part because most often it is ourselves that keep us from achieving what we set out to.</p>
<p>Try these techniques next time you are starting to feel fear.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re in love, for instance, you can put up with many different seemingly adverse situations. Nothing can overcome the joy you&#8217;re feeling from your love. The same exact circumstances can seem absolutely devastating if you&#8217;re depressed and only able to put one foot in front of the other with immense effort. The circumstances are the exact same but your perspective on life (and therefore on the circumstances) is different based on your life situation.</p>
<p>So what? Well the &#8220;so what&#8221; is that this shows, once again, that you really are in charge of yourself and how you view changes. Often we feel that these changes are externally imposed on us (for example &#8211; you&#8217;re in the same job you&#8217;ve been in for years and now you have a new boss &#8211; that is something you didn&#8217;t control or have any input into). As such, the change has been outside of your control. BUT and this is the important part &#8211; HOW you respond to that change is totally up to YOU! You can be resistant, scared, upset, angry, etc. Or, you can be positive, happy, excited, etc. Your current mood will definitely impact how you respond and therefore how you &#8220;are&#8221; with the change.  You have a choice. You can choose to look at the change as a positive and good thing and the more you put into that feeling and thought, the more it will come true (remember that the Universe will bring you more of what you&#8217;re concentrating on).</p>
<p>I always try to put this concept in front of me when dealing with change &#8211; and believe me, in the military there are many more days filled with change than not. In order to keep from being constantly bombarded by the stress of this and wondering what&#8217;s going to happen, I use segment intending and pave my every day and every move with new people and new events. I orchestrate how I want things to go no matter who the players are. The Universe responds to this and you are not manipulating people, you&#8217;re just guiding how everything will happen regarding you and your response to whatever&#8217;s going on.</p>
<p>If change seems to be bothering you, ask yourself what your mood is now or what it was when the change started. Once you have figured that out, then you can go about changing how you&#8217;re looking at things now. Were you in pain, were you unhappy, tired, hungry, what? What was happening in your life? Can you honestly say that this did NOT influence your response to the change?</p>
<p>Try to look at the change as an opportunity for you to excel at segment intending and using the Law of Attraction. Figure out what vibrations you are emanating when you talk/think about this situation. Are they likely to bring more of what you want or more of what you don&#8217;t want? Ask yourself so many questions that you&#8217;re &#8220;questioned out&#8221;. Then look at the answers and see what your mood is and was. More importantly, figure out how you want to feel right now and how you can get there &#8211; remember that we&#8217;re just trying to get you to have a &#8220;better feeling thought&#8221; &#8211; just a tiny bit better will do for now and then you&#8217;ll build on that. How can you look at this situation differently? What good can you extract from it, no matter how small? Continue to do this until you feel a tiny bit better and then go from there. Write everything down so that you can revisit it the next time. The more you use this technique the more fun it is especially once you start to see the positive results from it.</p>
