Using the 7 Main Aspects of God works!

You know I try to read ahead and get ready for the week’s teleseminar (or series like this one is). I had never read Emmet Fox’s 7 Main Aspects of God and amazingly had missed Anne’s talks on this. So, I grabbed a copy of the book and started reading. I was mesmerized. To me, these are the basic things we all need to start with – to get an understanding of before we can really understand what other things we’re doing in New Thought. The 7 Main Aspects are: Life, Truth, Love, Intelligence, Spirit, Soul, Principle. I don’t totally understand all of these yet (which is one reason I’m so looking forward to this series with Anne).

Take Love for exampe. The book says: When your prayers are not answered it must be because you have not fulfilled the conditions of the law, and, ninety-nine times in a hundred, it is because you are lacking in a sense of love for all. Treat yourself for Love every day and watch your thoughts, and “watch your tongue”, and watch your deeds, that nothing contrary to Love finds expression there. ….When there seems to be lack, see the Presence o God and claim Divine Love too, and when you feel the sense of Divine Love your demonstration is made and what you need will come.

So, what am I getting at. Today was the first day in the entire long weekend that I was able to get out there on my bicycle (my real passion) since it had rained the other 3 days (and we desperately need the rain here in San Antonio). I had a short 14 mile ride on Saturday that ended with a flat tire 1.5 miles from home. Last night when I was prepping, I noticed the tire was soft. I filled it up but made sure I had three tubes with me and plenty of CO2 cartridges. Well, low and behold at about 6 miles out I had to change the tire. I took off feeling great but it was within the next 2 miles that it got soft again. I filled it up with air, not wanting to change the tire again. I had thought my wheel was bent and that that was what was causing the problem. So, disappointed, I decided to be realistic and turned around to head home. I filled it up again twice but after the second time, it was apparent that this wasn’t working. I was still several miles from home so I decided I needed to change the tire again. This time, hoping that it would last til I got home. But, as I was making this decision and as I started to do the changing, I decided that instead of being mad, sad, frustrated, upset etc that I wasn’t going to have been able to ride at all this weekend, I was going to “treat” my bicycle with LOVE. So, as I was getting my gear out I kept telling my bike how much I loved it and that I loved all the rides it had given me. I continued to say this as I got the inner tube off the tire. I ran my fingers inside the tire as you’re taught to do. I felt nothing special. But, all of a sudden I was filled with an idea to inspect the outer aspect of the tire, something I’ve never ever done, nor even thought to do. I looked closely at the tire and amazingly found the tiny little cut where there was still an amazingly small piece of glass embedded in it. I then continued around the tire and found another area with glass  (these are so little, it’s a miracle I was able to find them). But, then, the best came. I went back to that first area and looked again (for some reason). And there was another even smaller piece of glass still deep within. If I hadn’t found that one, I would surely have had another flat and probably would have had to walk 5 miles home. I was elated and know that I was shown the way to look at the outside of the tire and to find all those pieces of glass because I declared LOVE for my bike and for the situation I was in. This was so out of character for me as was the method of inspection. I was elated – and I’m not sure which I was more excited about – that this concept worked or that I was then able to ride 55 miles!

You will really benefit from this 3 week class. So, go register for it now! If I could do this after just one reading, think what we’ll all be able to do when Anne teaches us how to use these 7 Main Aspects of God!

I’m wiped out after 7 hours on the road so I’m off to bed but wanted to share this with you all. Happy 4th of July and LOVE going back to work tomorrow.

An Emmet Fox note re: This week's teleseminar

Interesting that this week’s teleseminar “God is NOT an Errand Boy” (Your Spiritual Power of Attorney) fits right in with this Emmet Fox   ‘story’ (found in Find and Use Your Inner Power” ) – it’s called “No waiting”

“No Waiting”

Don’t wait about for God to act dramatically- because He won’t. If you want anything to happen, you must bring about a change in your own mental outlook, whereupon your outer experience will automatically change to correspond. When people expect a dramatic miracle from the outside, they are really hoping to change conditions without changing themselves- to get something for nothing, in fact, and that would be a violation of Cosmic Law.

Don’t wait for God to tell you what to do from the outside-He won’t. People have said to me, “Well, I am ready. Whatever God wants me to do, I am ready. If He wants me to go to California, or to Europe, or to start any work for Him, I am ready.” Such people, I have noticed, are apt to go on “being ready” indefinitely without anything ever happening. The fact is that they are waiting for a dramatic experience such as came to Moses on Sinai, and to Paul on the road to Damascus. Or probably they expect a Western Union boy to arrive with a telegram of instructions from heaven. None of these things will happen.

If you are really “ready to do God’s work,” you will have a clear idea of what you are going to do and how you propose to go about doing it, and probably you will know approximately  where you are going to do it too. This is being ready. If you do not have any definite desire or plan, then you are not “ready’; so don’t deceive yourself but get ready by treating for guidance. Treat for guidance, inspiration, wisdom, and right activity, until you have a clear, vivid, and whole-hearted enthusiasm for a definite plan. Then you will really be ready to do the Lord’s work, and if you vitalize your plan with unceasing treatment, nothing ca prevent your success.

So, get your act together with Anne and I this Thursday as Anne will help you faciliate the speed and effectiveness of your goals and affirmations. Join us for the “God is NOT an Errand Boy” teleseminar

Me bothers I – Emmet Fox

Maybe today isn’t the day I should try to write this one here – I read it several times as “Me BROTHERS I” vice “BOTHERS” – hmmm.

Oh well, here’s another great excerpt of Emmet Fox’s

“Do not identify yourself with your present mentality any more than with your body. The real you is the “Christ within” or the “I am.” When your body give you pain or trouble, you handle it as best you can, knowing that it is something distinct from yourself; you should do the same thing with your mind. Say every morning: “I am not my body. I am not my thoughts. I am not my feelings. I am Divine spirit, an individualization of God.” To realized in this way that you are not one with your present mentality, but that is only your instrument, makes it possible for you to change it for the better very rapidly.

When you find it difficult to manage yourself, think “I” intend to think rightly, but “me” does not want to; never the less “me” will have to do what “I” want – I am boss.

Of course “me” can be very troublesome, but as soon as you handle it objectively  in this way it know it is beaten and quickly surrenders. I want to get up by me wants t lie in bed. Or me claims indigestion, although I know I have dominion over my body. Or me is hurt and angry and wants to hit back, although I am determined to forgive. Or me says that business is hopeless, when I know that God s my supply. This is how the battle presents itself to consciousness, but as long as I insist that I am divine, God’s own expression, I must and shall win.”

Remember what a great teacher Emmet Fox was and read as much of his material as you can.

Keep on going – Emmet Fox

Here’s another “short story” from Emmet Fox. It’s called “Remember Lot’s Wife”

“Never look back. Always go straight ahead. Even if you are quaking, go right ahead, and quake as you go. Jesus said the man who puts his hand to the plow and then turns back, is not worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. He also said: “Remember Lot’s wife.”

The story of Lot’s wife is one of the most telling parables in the Bible. Lot and his family were fleeing from a city that was just about to be destroyed. They were told by an angel that they would get away safely provided they did not look back. The others obeyed the injunction and escaped, but Lot’s wife looked back- and was immediately turned into a pillar of salt. Salt in the Old Testament is a symbol for death, and this means that those who look back are dead spiritually and that usually their material affairs become stagnant too.

Never look back. No matter how unattractive or how dangerous the road ahead may be, it is better than the road back. The road ahead may mean difficulty, but the road back means failure. The road ahead may be veiled from sight, but you must teach yourself to regard the unknown as friendly.

Remember that God is always at the end of the road ahead, but at the end of the road back you will only find yourself.”

This is very meaningful for me at this particular point in time and I thought that I would share it – I am certain there are others out there in the same boat as I. Let’s just keep marching forward!
