Law of Attraction – Rule #5 Part 2 – What’s your “But”

whats your butWe each have limiting beliefs and they are unique. However, there are certain beliefs that appear to be universal limiting beliefs – ones that everyone has deeply ingrained in them. Do you identify with any on this list?

I’m not good enough.
I’ll never be enough.
††I’m not lovable.
††I don’t know what to do.
I can’t do anything right.
There’s not enough time.
I am worthless.
I need someone else/something else to make me happy.
I’m a failure.
People are judging me.
I need to be in control.
People are not trustworthy.
I don’t belong.
I have to be perfect.
Life is dangerous.
Life is hard.
No one loves me.
I never get a break.
I always lose anything I get.
I don’t deserve it.
Everyone else comes first.
There’s no point in wanting something because it will be taken away.
I’m a victim.
I have to work really hard to earn love.
I’m always disappointed.
Something is wrong with me.
I’m a burden to others.
I never win anything.
Rich people are greedy.
Money is the root of all evil.
Money doesn’t grow on trees.
You have to work hard.
I’m not worthy (variation of some of the others listed above).

I bet if you thought about it, you’d be able to come up with some other “Universal limiting beliefs”.

Write down those that have resonated within you. These are ones you must eliminate in order to make progress.

“But why can’t I just do affirmations?” you may ask.

Because simply doing affirmations is like trying to build a structure on top of a stretch of land that was just mowed and not dug up. You fluffy_cloud_text_11026have to clear the land before you can lay the foundation. If you put something on top of the mowed land, the weeds and roots will continue to grow below the surface and soon will be interfering with your structure. But if you’ve cleared the land and the roots your structure will stand tall and unencumbered. Clearing the roots is the same as clearing your limiting beliefs.

There are many ways of clearing and you can search the internet and try the one that works the best for you. I prefer denials and EFT as my clearing methods but I know there are many others out there. I have found EFT to work the fastest and is probably the easiest when done correctly (focusing on specifics rather than on generalities).

If you have alot of affirmations around the house or on your computer you can use them to help you identify your limiting beliefs. Say an affirmation and then pause. If that little voice in the back of your head says “but…..”, then that is your limiting belief. It’s the easiest way I’ve found to identify those limiting beliefs that are mine specifically. I can use the Universal Limiting beliefs to start with but then to delve in deeper, I go with the affirmation approach. This is NOT what the creation of affirmations was intended for but it’s a very useful technique.

Write down the things you want in life and then create the affirmations that go along with that desire. Then say the affirmation with strong feeling following that emotional statement with a period of “listening”. Once you have heard your little voice, you will know what you really need to work ok. You can create denials (”There is no poverty in my life”, “There is no loneliness in my life”, “There is no pain in my life”, etc) and say them over and over several times throughout the day. Or learn about and use EFT to clear those limiting beliefs.

Once you’ve identified and worked to clear these beliefs, you will now be able to fill in the space with the affirmations and visualizations that represent what you want!

Get to work. This is the most important rule of all.

Law of Attraction – Rule #5 – It’s All In Your Head

custom_text_badge_11930When you hear people say “it’s all in your head” your natural reaction most likely is one of anger and disbelief and astonishment – “how can you possibly think that – this is real?”

Reality is in our heads. Take this action. Write out what the actual facts are. Then everything else is your (or someone else’s) interpretation. And much of that interpretation is based on what we think and believe. If we have limiting beliefs still embedded in the cobwebs of our mind, then the interpretation of those facts will be very negative. If we’ve done a good job of eliminating our limiting beliefs and replacing them with UNlimiting beliefs, the interpretation will be extremely positive.

I’ve talked for many years about limiting beliefs and I feel that it should be a more prevalent topic of discussion than the Law of Attraction. Those who saw “The Secret” and later said it was baloney and didn’t work were not aware of the power of limiting beliefs and how they control all our thoughts, feelings, actions AND results! Your beliefs are what governs your feelings and subsequently your thoughts.

We accumulate our beliefs very early in life – from birth, if not before. They come from our parents, our family, peers, friends, colleagues, teachers, religious leaders, media, bosses, national leaders and anyone around us. Some of the beliefs are stronger than others. The more we are exposed to ideas and the more we respect or love a person, the more likely it is that we will adopt their ideas as our own beliefs.

As Abraham-Hicks says “A belief is just a thought we keep thinking over and over again”. When we think it over and over and over, it seems as if it must be real to us and so we start to believe it. But it is NOT necessarily reality. Remember that everyone felt the earth was flat. But it isn’t. They also thought that no one would ever be able to run a mile in less than 4 minutes – but it’s been done many times now. Think of all the things we have at our fingertips now – all the inventions. Were they ever thought to be possible? No – not until someone received the divine idea and chose to believe that it was possible. Once things are “visible” to others, they can become the subject of a new belief – such as the earth is round. Anyone now a days who believes that the earth is flat would be laughed at.

This should be (and probably will be) a multi-part “rule” because there are many different parts that need to be addressed (and are better addressed in some of our courses).

You have to understand that we are our own worst enemies. What if a baby was self-deprecating and each time it fell down while trying to learn to walk it said “gees, you’re really stupid – you fell down again. How dumb can you be?” or “Why can’t I get that right – I just started doing it yesterday, you’d think I’d be able to walk by now – there must be something wrong with me.” Or “I’ll never get it. Why bother?”.

Thank goodness children have not yet been overwhelmed with these horrible limiting beliefs and thoughts that if they don’t succeed and do everything perfectly on day 1 that they are “bad” people. If so, they would never do or try anything.

Why do we do that to ourselves as older children and then repeatedly as adults? Because somewhere along the way someone (or frustrationmany someones) have made a statement that we interpreted as a criticism or statement that we were bad people. It may not have really been intended that way but that is the way we perceived it. You’ve heard the phrase “perception is reality”. Well, that is so very true, especially in our own worlds and involving our own ego. If someone is having a bad day and comments on something we say or do but it doesn’t sound all cheery and enthusiastic, we are likely to interpret it as them not approving or worse yet, them criticizing us. When, in reality (their reality), they are NOT enthusiastic about ANYTHING at that moment except, perhaps, making their bad day go away. That has absolutely nothing to do with us and our performance. But since children believe that the world revolves around them, the pattern of interpreting others actions in terms of their own world is established. So, unless this other person says something like “hey, I’m just having a bad day so don’t take anything I do or don’t do personally” then we are liable to interpret their actions or looks or words the wrong way. Do you do that? I know I do and then I kick myself when I realize what I’ve done. But it’s taken me years to realize what it is that’s happened – it was ingrained in me as a child to just interpret and not ask – actually when I asked, I never believed the response so I just stopped asking and felt that I “knew” what the real truth was. That’s a worse scenario, believe me.

You don’t even know all the things you believe in. You may be able to spout off the basics “I believe in God”, “I believe in justice”, “I believe in the 10 commandments”, “I believe you’re innocent until proven guilty” (”well, maybe not all the time but I have to say I believe that”), etc.

But what do you believe about your self-worth, about your ability to succeed, about your ability to love and be loved, about your ability to perform in something you love doing? Look at your life and your dreams and desires and see what it is you believe. Because your thoughts and words reflect your beliefs and your actions reflect all of that most of all. Why not take a moment and write down what’s happened in your life – are you successful in business, relationships, happiness? What have you accomplished? Have you reached your goals? Did you ever have goals? Or did you just “settle” for what came your way? Did you have a reason (excuse) why you didn’t become that person you wanted to be when you were a child. For example, I wanted to be a neurosurgeon from the time I first saw the TV show “Ben Casey” (showing my age I know). But when I was 21 I developed epilepsy. That shot down any hopes of being a neurosurgeon. So that’s my “reason”. I could look alot more deeply into it and figure out how I created that reality but I don’t really care anymore since I found another direction and goal and was very happy with that. If, however, I had not been able to find something else, then I would have benefited from further exploration into my reason/excuse and see what was really going on.

check_off_with_pencil_800_7226This will be your starting point. Once you’ve written down all you’ve accomplished and all you wanted to accomplish, go back and figure out what it is you are lacking and see on that list of “wish I hads” that may still be sparking a desire within you. Then write down why you don’t have that particular thing. Be honest with yourself. No on else needs to see it. I think it might be revealing to you.

We’ll go a little deeper next time! But this will be a great start for you.

Law of Attraction – Rule #4 – Stop Checking The Mailbox

man with head in mailboxNow that you’ve realized the power of the Law of Attraction, figured out what you wanted and became specific about it and then told the Universe “This is what I want – bring it to me”, you must believe that it will be yours.

It won’t do you any good to be checking the mailbox two or three times a day – that won’t bring your order to your house any quicker, will it? Of course not.

Have faith and believe. This is a big part of “The Law of Allowing” – you have to realize that it is yours and that it will be given to you since you’ve asked. But you have to allow it into your life. The more you “check your mailbox” the less belief you express. You begin to wonder “did they get the order?” “Maybe they were out of of what I wanted”, “What if I didn’t put the right address?”, “What if….”, “What if….” etc. The doubts start to creep in. Every time you check the mailbox to see if the Universe has delivered your order, you wonder more and more if you made the right decision, if you deserve this gift (because if you did deserve it, it would be here already, right?), if it’s ever going to come, is this Law of Attraction really exists and works and if so, why won’t it work for you and on and on and on. The questions come faster and more furiously each time you check and there’s nothing there.

It will come if you continue to believe, to have faith. There is the Law of Gestation that comes into play here. It takes time for things to Taking care of new developmentgrow and manifest themselves. Different animals have different gestation periods; different seeds take different times to grow and sprout. If you plant a seed and then dig it up every day to see if it’s grown, it will never sprout above the soil. But if you plant it, water it and even talk to it and love it, in the proper amount of time (for that seed) it will bloom or sprout. The words to the song “The Rose” come to mind when explaining this concept.

“Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun’s love
In the spring becomes the rose.”

So when you’re enduring the “winter’s bitter snows” know that your order will be delivered to you and you will receive The Rose!

It will arrive just as you asked.

Law of Attraction – Rule #3 – Place Your Order Once

rule3 This Rule is closely tied to rule #2 – remember in rule #2 I told you that you had to decide specifically what it is you want. You can’t go back and forth and back and forth and expect the Universe to know what it is you’re really asking for.

Well, Rule #3 tells us that once you’ve made up your mind (evaluating all factors but most importantly your emotions), you have to tell the Universe what it is you want. You place your order.

You don’t go into a restaurant and say “I’ll have the chicken please”. The waiter will look at you like “and…..?”

You have to tell him what kind of chicken you want. And then he’ll ask about how you want it done, whether or not you want salad, what sides you want, if any, etc…..he wants you to tell him exactly what your order is! The Universe is standing by just like the waiter – simply waiting for you to place your order. Think of an online order. You can’t finish the checkout if you haven’t answered all the questions. In real life it is feasible that the waiter might think he knows the answers to all the required questions and he might fill in some for you but online you have to select all the boxes yourself before you can finish. The “system” won’t let you complete and place your order unless you make some sort of selection. The “system” just like the  Universe doesn’t know if you’ve made the correct selection or had a “fat finger” accident but all it knows is whether or not you’ve specifically made your choices.

Now that you’ve completed the first part of your order you must do the second most important thing – you must PLACE YOUR ORDER! In the words of Abraham-Hicks you have to “Ask” for what you want. In other words you have to click on the ORDER button. You can work very hard to make your decisions as to what you want and fill in all the blanks but if you don’t click on the ORDER button, you will NEVER get your order, no matter how long you wait.

Many people get stuck at this point. Perhaps it’s because they are unsure if this is really what they want or perhaps it’s because they have been taught that you shouldn’t ask for things – that that is too self-centered or egotistical. That couldn’t be further from the truth. You have to ASK the universe for what it is you want. If you don’t, no matter how specific you’ve been, you won’t receive your gift. The Universe will have created what you want but it’s still sitting in the warehouse, unable to be delivered because you have never asked for it. Think of all this like Amazon. There are many fulfillment centers around the country (and probably the world) but none of them will package up a product and send it to you if you haven’t asked for it. Get the point yet?

There is another part to this rule – you have to then sit back and wait for it to be delivered. It does no good for you to be running to your man with head in mailboxdoor every five minutes to check to see if  your order has been delivered  yet. If you hit the “order” button, then it will be delivered. The Universe thinks you’re questioning it (and interprets that as you’re not sure you made the correct selection so it backs up a bit). So, sit back and relax knowing that it will show up. Have faith that you made the right selection and that the Universe will bring you what you asked for. This is the “Receive” part of the equation. You have to allow it to come to you. This is where you must break down your resistance and stop thinking things like “it won’t work” or “I’ll never get that”. You have power and you have the Law of Attraction which is always working for you. So sit back and wait for the delivery.

Law of Attraction – Rule #2 – Shoot Straight, Don’t Play Ping-Pong

Print We’ve talked about this before but it’s probably right up there with Rule #1 in importance.  I call Rule #2 – “Shoot Straight, Don’t Play  PIng-Pong”

What do I mean by this…and why is it important? Remember that the Universe will bring you whatever you ask for (especially those things you really feel strongly about). You simply have to place your order.

People hear that and say “but I know I don’t want any more bills or any more debt but that never happens. Does that mean the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for me? And if so, why is it so selective?”

The Law of Attraction is NOT selective. It works, bottom line! No matter what, it works. All you have to do is read last week’s post on Rule #1 to realize that it works. So what’s the problem in this situation?

The problem with this person’s request/order is that it’s based in “lack” so that’s what they will get more of – more lack. That is NOT what we’re after! We have to approach our desires from a position of abundance. But we’ll cover that in a later rule.

What Rule #2 is all about is being sure of what you want.

You’ve heard me talk before about wanting a new car and not getting it. I know exactly why I haven’t gotten it and that’s because I can’t figure out which car I want. Some days I want a Toyota Prius, other days it’s a Honda hybrid (and there are a few of them to pick from) and then other days I want a replacement for my convertible that’s 22 years old but still runs well.

I just can’t make up my mind. As soon as I start thinking about a Toyota Prius, the Universe begins to make plans to deliver that to me. stick_figure_long_shot_pc_400_clr_3328Everything is working to manifest my desire….but then, bam – I change my mind and I’m wanting a Honda. So, now the Universe is scurrying around stopping “production” of the Toyota Prius and starts working on delivering the Honda. But then I think about another type of car. The Universe then stops “production” (or creation/manifestation) of the Honda and begins working on the other car.

See what I mean about playing Ping-Pong. If I can’t make up my mind, how can the Universe give me what I want. I haven’t decided what it is I really want and therefore I am not focused enough to be placing my feelings in a positive, consistent direction to bring the car into my life.

Take your time and decide what the heck it is you want!  You have to be specific and you have to really want whatever it is you’re asking for. You can’t be wishy washy and you can’t keep fluctuating in your desires and thoughts.

In all my discussions on this, I tell you how to make sure it’s your desire and that it’s believable, etc. You have to check on the “Define and Conquer” information for more on that.

Shoot Straight and let the Universe know exactly what to bring you.
