Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“Expectation indicates the juncture between where you are and where you want to be. Where you want to be is your desire, and where you are is your Set-point or habit of thought. And, somewhere in there, is what we would call expectation. Expectation, whether it is wanted or unwanted, is a powerful point of attraction. Your expectation is always what you believe. But the word expectation does imply more what you are wanting than what you are not wanting. It is a more positive word than it is a negative word. But of course, you could expect negatively—and whatever you expect, you will get!”

I think this is a very important point for us to look at. We often do “expect” the worst. That is an expectation and guess what? It will happen since you expect it. You’ve set up the vibrations and the “request” (by thinking about it) and the Universe starts to comply. You have to break that momentum if you want to reverse or at least stop that expectation. But, as usual, it’s all about recognizing that you’re expecting the worst. It’s just as Abraham says – we are at a Set point or habit of thought – that is our beliefs. If we believe we never win anything, we won’t. If we believe that we never get the raise, we won’t. If we believe we’ll get a cold, we will. The belief has been created because we’ve thought about something for a very long time so it’s become ingrained  in our minds. We don’t even stop to question it any more. One event or situation starts it and then it just keeps going on. For some reason we remember the “less than desirable” things (the “bad” things) more than we remember the good. And so whenever more bad things happen, we end up believing that is what ALWAYS happens – a belief develops.

This is why a success journal is so important. And it should be done daily (along with your gratitude journal) because if you wait even a day, you will be less likely to remember the great things that might have happened the day before. Because little good things lead up to great things! And no matter how “little”, it still is a success. It’s important to use this journal as a written memory that you can turn to when things might not be going as well as you’d like. It is also fun to peruse every once in a while to add to your gratitude list.

What are you expecting? Are they good expectations or expectations of things you don’t want.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“Your mind is a powerful magnet that will attract to you the things you identify yourself with. If you have sad thoughts, you will attract tragedies. If you are a good man, you will attract the company of good people.” ~ Alfredo Karras

“Bad” things happen. That’s a given. But we do not have to concentrate or focus on them. We don’t want to give them our attention because that will do just as Mr. Karras says – it will attract tragedies. There’s the typical momentum issue too. When you continually focus on something “bad” and another “bad” thing comes into your life, then you go “ah geez, what’s up with this? Doesn’t anything ever go right for me? What’s next?” etc. And guess what? Since you’re in a negative space with that vibration, more “bad” things will come into your life.  That’s the magnetic aspect (the Law of Attraction at work).

I continue to put “bad” in quotes because Abraham has taught us that nothing is really bad. It’s the contrast that presents us with choice. If it’s something we’d rather not have or experience, then we know (through the contrast) what it is we really do want. If we didn’t know both sides, we’d be bland and apathetic and not necessarily knowing what it is we really want.

Find the “good” in something that you initially think is “bad”. I can tell you my earliest experience with this and I knew nothing about metaphysics at that time but in retrospect it was so obvious. I did not get into medical school when I first applied and I was devastated. And I didn’t get in the second time either. But, all I can say is “thank goodness I didn’t.” Why? Because I most likely would have dropped or flunked out when I developed epilepsy that took over a year to diagnose. And also because I would not have become an Osteopath which is the very best thing that could have happened to me. I was so blessed that I didn’t get in when I first applied. Of course I didn’t know any of this at the time nor did I have any clue about the Law of Attraction but I just kept marching on toward what I did want. There was the initial disappointment but I got over that and then continued to strive to become a doctor – after all, that’s what I had wanted since I was 4 years old. That determination kept me on the path which eventually brought success into my life.

Look to others to help you find the good in something you might otherwise think is bad. Once you come up with some good aspect, continue to focus on it and try to bring more of the good part into your life by focusing on that!

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“By choosing better-feeling thoughts and by speaking more of what you do want and less of what you do not want, you will gently tune yourself to the vibrational frequency of your Broader Perspective. To see your world through the eyes of Source is truly the most spectacular view of life, for from that vibrational vantage point, you are in alignment with—and therefore in the process of attracting—only what you would consider to be the very best of your world.”

—Abraham [Excerpted from the workshop: Money and the Law of Attraction on August 31, 2008]

This follows along with yesterday’s post (and this was not intentional either). Remember how I mentioned my battery “problem”. In the past I most likely would have hung onto the “how bad my luck is” all day long and completely missed the joy of having all the other issues taken care of for me (the oil change and inspection sticker). But I focused on how fortunate I had been to be able to get my colleague before he had left for work and also focused on how happy I was that I made it to work on time. As I wrote yesterday – the entire Universe then opened up before me.

Maybe you can’t always be a pollyanna and no one will fault you if you can’t. Some things appear so very tragic or even appear hopeless that it’s a normal reaction to plummet to the depths of despair. But when you have something happen or think it might happen (worry), try to focus on better feeling thoughts. Use those “Kodak Moments” you’ve stored up. Or look around you and find some beauty in something. If you’re in your house, think about how beautiful it is and how luck you are to have a roof over your head. If you’re driving and start to worry or think about things that are not making you feel good, switch gears and focus on some beauty or intriguing technology in the cars around you. You can find something to think about or focus on that will make you feel better than you already do.

Try it this week. As soon as you catch yourself thinking about something that is not making you feel good (and maybe making you feel bad even), promise yourself you’re going to immediately find something else to focus on. It could be love, could be a person you think is brave, it could be a sports event, it could be anything. Just make sure it’s something that makes you feel better than what you were just feeling.

Let me know how it’s working for you. Keep track of how often you succeeded in changing your momentum this way.

If you have a subject that makes you uncomfortable when you think about it, it means there is strong desire related to it. Which means it really, really, really matters. So finding a way to think about it and feel good is your work. But it is equally effective to think about anything else and feel good, and let it in. You don’t have to think about money in order to let in money. You just can’t think about lack of money, to let in money
—Abraham

Abraham has such profound remarks. There are just times when it’s very hard to change your momentum especially when things appear to be spiraling downward. When you sense that happening, it’s best to just let the momentum continue and run its course so to speak. Then you can start climbing back up.

But remember what Abraham is saying here. If you focus on the lack of something, then you’ll get more of it. So rather than focusing on the lack of ‘x’, try to move to another topic and think of something that does make you feel good and abundant. There are many times in your life that you can use for this (those Kodak Moments). Just move your mind and emotions to the good things. It’s not lying to yourself. It’s simply moving into a different realm for awhile. Make yourself find that other thing and concentrate on it!

Find a Kodak Moment for this week and use it when you find yourself thinking about any “lack” aspect of your life.

There are no happier people on this planet than those who decide that they want something, define what they want, get hold of the feeling of it even before it’s manifestation and then joyously watch the unfolding as, piece by piece by piece, it begins to unfold. That’s the feeling of your hands in the clay.
—Abraham

This is definitely in line with what we’ve been talking about in the past few weeks. I’ve tried to emphasize the need to determine what it is you really want and be specific about it, look back at what might have brought you to the place where you are right now, and as usual have discussed momentum.

Looking at what has brought you to where you are helps you watch how things have unraveled. But what’s even more fun is to watch things unravel when you change your thinking and take specific actions in order to bring about what you want. It really is enjoyable watching this and then watching how things can change when you modify what it is you want.

I have experienced all of this in the past 3 months and have have been having so much fun with it. It’s lifted me up even further to just watch it all happen. I put it into motion and then sat back. I needed a few tweaks because of my own neglect but once I realized what I had neglected, I was good to go!

Pick one simple thing you want and this week work on how you’re going to define it and feel as if it already is in your experience, feel the joy of having it and then watch!  Of course, it might or might not come to pass in one week (Law of Gestation) so don’t expect that but don’t be disappointed either.

Let us know how things work out.
