Momentum Monday

Here’s momentum-monday1another discovery I made that may help you this week.

I was sitting in my recliner and had just awakened from a nap. I looked around my living room and recognized how much I loved my house and how it truly was a home. I have though this before but I now know I need to make it a habit to tell my beautiful home how much I love it and how much it means to me. The same goes for my vehicle. I’ve had that also for 10 years (same time as I moved in here I bought my car) and it has come through in every possible moment. It has been faithful and kept me safe and sound for all these years. I haven’t told it enough either.

Then there’s my cactus garden out front. I have done nothing to/with it in all these years except to talk to it and visit it almost every day. It has really done well and I love the low maintenance.

I love San Antonio and the new section of highway that makes my commute to and from work much quicker and easier.

I love the building we work in too.

I love my computer at home and at work even though they are like little children who “act up” when they want my attention…isn’t that a unique way to look at it? I find that much easier than getting upset with the computers.

Look at everything around you and proclaim that you love it and keep that up daily if not more often.

Try it this week!

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1Practice what you preach they always say. And I needed to remember that this weekend.

I have been having some strange physical symptoms lately and yesterday they really got to me and I wasn’t doing anything but thinking about them and trying to diagnose myself (they say a patient who has himself as his doctor is a fool and I definitely fit into that category).  Even though, at times, I would remember the great saying “That which I feared greatly came upon me” and know that every minute of every day I’m creating my own reality, I still couldn’t seem to stop the momentum. But I didn’t even have the presence of mind to stop fighting that momentum and letting it run its course. So between the resistance I was putting out against these weird symptoms and trying to put the  brakes on this momentum, it was just getting worse.

Like a smack in the head while lying in bed I realized I had completely forgotten my toolbox – the various techniques that you can use to change your momentum or eliminate the resistance. Some tools work better than others – depending on the situation.

In my case last night, I remembered that I had not even thought about EFT (emotional freedom technique) which would remove the feelings of fear surrounding the symptoms and allow things to progress as they should and maybe even disappear. I do know that whenever you’re worried about something, the symptoms intensify and you get to the point where you’ve thought the worst is about to happen (or already has happened)! And you don’t want to be in that situation. You want to eliminate the fear and anxiety as soon as you can.

I used EFT last night and again today and just continued to say “everything always works out for me” and by mid-day the symptoms had lessened.

This week, write down the tools that are in your toolbox and put them on an index card that you can pull out and review when you’re feeling fear or anxiety.

If you are being swept into some current that is not comfortable, or not in harmony with your desire, you must remember that couldn’t happen if you weren’t offering a vibration that matched it in some way. If you’re vibrating differently from that, you’re not having that experience
—Abraham

This is something that’s hard for most people to accept when they initially enter the study and practice of metaphysics. It’s pretty easy to accept that you’ve created the good things in your life. You can hold your head up high, stick your chest out and say “aha, look what I created!”

But then when you see things that are not going quite so well, you want to put the blame somewhere else. It’s hard to accept the fact that you have created these bad circumstances and that you brought cruddy things into your life. I mean, after all, who would do such a thing?

Release the idea of blame. Just accept what this quote says – it couldn’t be happening if you weren’t offering a vibration that matched it in some way. Instead of beating yourself up about it (or worse yet, trying to find someplace/someone to take responsibility for it), simply stop and look at what’s happening. If it’s not something you want to continue to happen, then you can start changing your vibration – slowly but surely. You may have to let the momentum run its course for a while before things change but often that’s easier than trying to buck the current and swim upstream. Let yourself experience what’s happening and see what you can learn from it. It will fizzle out and then you can start to move up the emotional scale in the direction you want to head.

This week, take a look around you and see how things are going. If they aren’t the way you’d like them to go, admit that you created this and that you can, therefore, change that creation and transform it into a great experience.

Let us know what you’ve discovered.

When you talk about what you want and why you want it, there’s usually less resistance within you than when you talk about what you want and how you’re going to get it. When you pose questions you don’t have answers for, like how, where, when, who, it sets up a contradictory vibration that slows everything down.
—Abraham

Read this quote over and over again. The importance of it cannot be overstated. It follows on yesterday’s post about Good Vibrations too.

You have the answers to:

  • What you want (clarity comes even from those things you don’t want)
  • Why you want it/them

You don’t necessarily have the answers to:

  • How you’re going to get it
  • When you’re going to get it
  • Whose going to be involved
  • etc

What this quote is saying is that it’s easier to focus on the “why” you want something and since there is usually an emotional investment (and a positive one) the vibrations are high and positive and it’s much more likely that you’re going to be able to allow it into your life. If you’re trying to focus on the “how” with all the attendant logistical concerns. Your intellectual brain starts getting involved with the who, what, when, where, why and how. When that happens you are trained to think of the “pros and cons” and that means you have to think in terms of lack.

If you focus only on the what and why you can be emotional and get your positive vibrations really buzzing on a high plane without any negatives or lack to get in the way.

Try it this week. Focus only on the what and why. If you find your brain drifting toward the “how”, immediately go back to the why!

Everything that has ever been lived, everything that has ever been written down or documented, has been vibration first. Everything has been conjured in vibration first before it manifests. So if something has manifested and you continue to give it your attention, the fact that it is true should really hold no weight with you. The question that we would ask is not, is it true, or is it undeniable? The question that we would ask is, how does it make me feel when I focus upon it? And if the answer to the question is, it doesn’t make me feel very good when I focus upon it, then we would say, true or not, it does not serve you. And if you will activate a different part of your vibration—the “truth” will shift.
—Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop: El Paso, TX on March 28, 2002

The most important part of this quote is that it tells us to stop focusing on the things in our life that we don’t like or want. If we keep looking at something we will be focusing on it. If you have a mess in the middle of the floor (let’s say a pile of dirty clothes) you have to move around it so you’ll pay more attention to it than perhaps you’d like. Since you have to be careful about how you’re moving around it, you’re focusing on it so you keep seeing a pile of dirty clothes. If that doesn’t make you feel very good, it doesn’t serve you. So what do you do? You either leave it there and let it continue to bother you more and more or you pick up the clothes and you’ll now have a nice clean pathway and can focus essentially on the emptiness and the freedom you have for walking there. You might just have moved the pile to another room that you don’t frequent often so even though the “truth” is that there still is a pile of dirty clothes in your house, it’s not something in your focus and no longer is making you feel bad. You are focusing on the new “truth” – the freedom/emptiness.

Tell us what you can focus on this week to activate a different part of your vibration. Then tell us how that made you feel.
