How to Dissolve Fear, Worry and Tension

Prayers of denial dissolve fear, worry, sorrow, sickness, tension and other negative emotions. These “No” prayers seem to neutralize the effects of negation.

When you use these second and third types of prayer – denial and affirmation – realize that they are as much attitudes of the mind as they are formal methods of prayer. You can use them silently or verbally wherever you are.

If you feel rushed and faced with an impossible task, try this:
“There is no need to rush. Divine Order is now established and maintained in this situation.”

So many people get the idea that someone else can keep their good from them. They go through life unhappily believing this. Prayers of denial can dissolve these beliefs. If you catch yourself thinking in a limited manner, simply declare “Nothing can oppose my good.”

When you have overcome your fear of any problem, you have gained control over it. It no longer controls you.

Prayers of Denial – The Second Type of Prayer

The Prayer of Denial is little known or understood.

The word “deny” means “to dissolve, to erase or be free from, to refuse to accept as true or right that which is reported to be true.”

Prayers of denial are for the latter purpose – to refuse to accept as necessary, true, lasting or right anything which is not satisfying or good.

Prayers of denial are your “no” prayers. They help you reject things as they are and to dissolve your negative thoughts about them.

They help you make way for something better. Prayers of denial help you to erase, to be free from less than the best in your life. Prayers of denial are expressed in those attitudes that think “I will not put up with or tolerate this experience as necessary, lasting or right. I refuse to accept things as they are. I am God’s child and i will accept nothing but His complete goodness for me.”

So many people live an existence of fear, compromise, and dissatisfaction, when they might be enjoying a life of gigantic good, if they only knew how to say “no” to the less-than-best in their experiences.

It is good to follow up thoughts of what you don’t want with what you do want; after claiming “No, I will not accept this,” you should add, “Yes, I will accept xyz” (fill in xyz with what it is you wish).

To any situation that is dissatisfying, you can deny it by declaring to a loving Father “Take away all iniquity.” Then follow it up with the affirmation “I will accept only that which is good.”

More on the power of prayers of denial later….

What does prayer do?

What does prayer do?

Prayer heals

Once a man was so desperate because there was no medical diagnosis or help for his son’s cough that he took his son into the den, sat in a chair, and offered a short, simple general prayer of thanks that his son was healed of the cough and infection.  Remember what Jesus prayed before Lazarus came back to life “Father, I thank thee that thou hearest me always.” (John 11:41, 42). This man’s child recovered completely.

Prayer Dissolves Bitterness.

One woman prayed to meet the right man to marry and it succeeded.

An out of work musician prayed a general prayer that God’s will be done in that situation. Lo and Behold his agent called and told him (and his group) that he had located a job for them in Texas.

A woman prayed for protection while she was in a house right in the middle of a forest fire where fire raged all around her property. She prayed “Father, it is up to you to save me and the house and property. There’s nothing I can do.” She then released the matter and went to bed for the night.  The next morning she awoke to find a few stumps still smoldering around her house. When she looked more she realized the fire had burned right up to the property line and had stopped. Later in the day a forest ranger came to her and said that there was only one explanation – “it must have been a miracle”.

Prayer is dynamic

If you feel that perhaps your prayer experience has not been satisfying or powerful and that nothing much happened as a result of your prayers, perhaps it’s because you would like to develop more specific types of prayer than general prayer.

Hold on to that thought until tomorrow…

Special Methods of General Prayer

Special Methods of General Prayer

A good way to start with General Prayer is to take the Lord’s Prayer and consider each line of it silently and verbally. This has been persistent throughout the ages and has been believed to have magical powers especially when repeated over and over.

You can pray by invoking the name of Jesus Christ – mentally image Jesus taking care of anything, any situation or person that bothers you.  Catherine Ponder reports of a woman who hated her husband but years later was still married to him. She began to daily think of Jesus Christ going to work on her husband. “I saw Christ working in and through him, working with him, even having lunch with him. I visualized my husband and the Christ with him, coming home to his wife and family to well-cooked meals, happy and contented” This woman reported that her husband was now a different man, one who is kind, thoughtful, happy and loving.

At times one form of prayer will help you and at other times you’ll need another form. Even though we hear a lot about affirmative prayer and silent prayer, it is important to remember the good old-fashioned type of prayer.

The Prosperity Law of Prayer

Prayer really is natural to man. Even though people don’t talk about it much in public, it’s always with them.

The person who prays daily is certain to succeed because he is attuning himself to the richest and most successful force in the universe.

Remember Jesus promised “All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

This Bible promise makes it clear that there is nothing wrong with praying for things. many people think (wrongly) that it is wrong to pray for things. Jesus knew that if you first pray for things, you’ll learn the power of prayer and you’ll want to go further and deeper in developing your prayer power.

Even Emmet Fox once described the power of praying for things:

“Prayer does change things. Prayer does make things happen quite otherwise than they would have happened had the prayer not been made. It makes no difference at all what sort of difficulty you may be in. It does not matter what the causes may have been that led up to it. Enough prayer will get you out of your difficulty, if only you will be persistent enough in your appeal to God.”  (From “The Sermon on the Mount”)

There are four basic ways of praying so that everything will be all right:

1) There is General Prayer. This is praying to God as a loving, understanding Father in your own private way. It can be on your knees or in any comfortable position. It can be expressed in spoken words or silent communion. It can be with a prayer book before you, or it can be by browsing thorough your Bible, dwelling on your favorite passages, or paraphrasing them to meet your need.

More about General Prayer tomorrow….
