Processing The Tragedy in Connecticut

We have all been devastated to a degree by the senseless shooting of innocent children (and adults) in Connecticut.  Parents, especially, may be feeling a deep sense of fear for their own children.

Perhaps it even brings back memories for you of a time when you were terrified….maybe memories of 9/11 or Columbine or any of the other tragedies that have seemed to increase in the past few years.

How can we process this event, not contribute to the negative aspects of it and yet not appear cold to others?

First of all, I think people will think what they want to think of you no matter what you do. So why not do what’s best for you and your family?

You know I talk about vibration all the time – this is key right now. You must do everything you can to raise your vibration and this will take some doing as the news media latches on to this tragedy. I realize they have a job to do but it should NOT be 24 hours a day, saying and showing the same thing over and over again.  We all know the facts – at least 20 children and 6 adults (I might be off on the numbers) were killed by a deranged young man who simply burst into school and started shooting. Do you really need to know any more than than? If you said yes, ask yourself “why” you need to know more than that.

If you said “so I can prevent it from happening again”, you are deluding yourself. By concentrating on its occurrence and focusing so much of the country’s (and the world’s) time, emotions and energy on this crisis we are all working to bring MORE of it into our lives.

We have to work to raise our vibrations and feel love and compassion for those involved. Do anything you can (meditate, pray, hold hands, hug, whatever works for you) to get into a place of peace. As you begin to feel inner peace, you’ll also begin to radiate it outward and that is what we all want to do. The more peace and love we can radiate out toward those affected, the more good we are doing for them, rather than the “virtual rubbernecking” that we’re doing by being tied to the TV news.

Why is this so important? If you have children or are around children, remember that they know what’s going on even if you try to hide things. They read your emotions, they “know” you, they “feel” you and your thoughts, feelings and vibrations.

Do you want them to feel your fear? Of course not. You want to reassure them in any way possible. Let them know that they are safe and loved and that those in Connecticut will be taken care of, be loved and will thrive as children do – if we let them.

If you start to hover or be over protective, they will pick up on your fear. They will then start to be afraid and yet not know why.

It it NOT cold or mean or unfeeling to try to raise your vibration. Use the Rampage of Appreciation to get in a better feeling place. Use the “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” technique as well. More importantly say your “gratitudes” (use your Gratitude Journal) and show the Universe how much you appreciate what you have. NO matter how bad things seemed yesterday morning for you, I bet they appeared not so significant when you heard the news. Do anything you can to move your thoughts to the positive. Think about how resilient children are and think of examples in your own family life – that should bring smiles to your face. Write them down. Better yet, start planning 2013 and determining your plans to achieve your desires in 2013. Figure out what your desires really are. Take time to think about them and solidify them. Use this time to take an inventory of where you are and where you were last year and how far you’ve come. Do anything to focus on the positive right now. Play with your kids but don’t cling to them.

Remember NOT to tell this story over and over again. Do not engage with others who just want to revisit the same old stuff. Find a way to move off from those who have to discuss it. Change the topic, excuse yourself and slip away. Do anything to tell a positive story – even if it has to be a silent one inside your head. Also remember the invaluable phrase “That is not my truth”.

Help the vibration of the world become positive so that the magnetic energy diverted to Connecticut can be healing and loving energy, not anger or fear.

Let me know if you’ve found a way to accomplish this.

Tip of the Month – February

Let’s take a look at the Universal Laws this month.

The Law of Consciousness, the Law of Mind Action and the Law of Cause and Effect are the first three laws. I suggest at least once a month you review these first three laws. Sit down with a pen and paper and write down any new ideas that have come up that you think are limiting to you.

As you move into the next Laws coming up, you realize that our subconscious is like peeling skins off of an onion. We peel a little bit off at a time. We move through those and into a new awareness. Then we have to go back and pull off another layer. We look at another viewpoint with different things. Each time we evaluate where and who we are and what we’re doing with our lives.

We have within us that capacity to dream bigger, receive newer ideas and expressions of what we want to do and have an unfolding life that gets better all the time. It took us many years to limit ourselves through the subconscious action of error belief and the mistakes of life.

As we make these changes in our lives, we need to go back and look at the Law of Consciousness again.

What do we really believe? If we still attract unpleasant people to our lives, then we say, “What is it? Reveal to me this truth.” Ask yourself over and over, “Show me something new that I can do. Show me how I can let go of these old ideas. What is it that I need to let go of at this time?

Each time we move through a review of these earlier laws, we open up ourselves for the Christ mind to become stronger and more powerful in our lives. That is when your ideas begin to become genius activity. You begin to dream in bigger and better ways. The Christ in you has no limitations.

The Christ in you has no barriers. It has nothing that will prevent the Christ itself from being that radiant life of spirit within you. You can do all things. You begin to believe it as you get all of the little things out of the way that have kept you in struggle, overcoming and all of the things that you thought you had to do.

We work with the Law of Cause and Effect and realize that as we’re giving out, it’s coming back. The more stability we have in our ability to hold onto that faith that we’re working with these laws, the quicker and easier they come back to us.

In Spite Of

Here’s a great Emmet Fox post:

Success consists in the overcoming of difficulties. All men and women who have made a success of any kind have done so by overcoming difficulties. Where there are no difficulties to be overcome, anybody can get the thing done, and doing so cannot be called success.

There was a time when laying a telegraph line from New York to Boston presented many complicated changes. Then there was a time when doing that was easy, but laying the Atlantic cable was a great achievement, because of the perplexing areas which had to be overcome. Later on, marine cable laying became a routine business, but radio across the ocean presented problems which for a time seemed insurmountable. Then those difficulties were overcome too.

There are no personal areas that cannot be transformed by quiet, persistent, spiritual treatment, and the appropriate wise activity.

If you have a personal experience that seems to keep you from success, do not accept it as such, but capitalize it and use it as the instrument for your success.

H. G. Wells had to give up a dull underpaid job because of ill health, so he stayed at home and wrote successful books and became a world-known author instead. Edison was stone deaf and decided that this would enable him to concentrate better on his inventions. Beethoven did his work in spite of his deafness.

Theodore Roosevelt was a sickly child and was told he would have to lead a careful retired life. He was a very short-sighted and nervous little boy. Instead of accepting these suggestions, however, he worked hard to develop his body and became, as we know, a strong husky open-air man and big game hunter. Gilbert wrote Pinafore on a sick bed, wracked with severe pain.
The owner of a fashionable dress business in London started with northing but good taste in clothes and a belief in prayer, and is a wealthy and successful woman today.
Whatever you think your disadvantage is, capitalize it. Spiritual treatment and courageous determination can overcome anything.

Don’t Tell Anyone About Your Goals…

How are things going with your 2012 Achievement List?

I’ll be having a few pointers for you as the weeks go by so drop back here to check on the latest tip.

It’s important that you keep your goals to yourself.

Although this may be contrary to what you hear from everyone about needing a support system to help you, think about that statement. That may be good for your New Year’s Resolutions (you know I don’t like that phrase) like going to the gym or quitting drinking or maybe for losing weight but all you have to do is look at your past and see how well that has worked for you. How often in your life have you kept your resolutions. I look at a “resolution” as something you want to change in your life (I actually look at it as something you feel you ‘have’ to change). But is it always a goal? No. Sometimes it might be but not always.

Why do I want you to keep your goals to yourself? Because the last thing you need is to have someone derail you, whether consciously or subconsciously. People will do that but if they don’t think your goals are “right”, they aren’t going to be supportive. Why might they not think your goals are “right” and may actually sabotage your efforts?

  • They are envious of you having a goal
  • They don’t think you can achieve it and are “trying to save you” from the “eventual failure”
  • They are afraid that if you achieve your goal, you’ll outgrow them and have no need for them
  • They are afraid that the effort you’ll have to put into achieving your goals will take time and attention away from them
  • They don’t want you to succeed for any number of other reasons
  • etc….

So, keep your goals to yourself or to someone you totally trust and evaluate that person’s personality, history and attitude even more before you confide in them.

Keep on Achieving!

Tip of The Month – January

January can be a let down month as well as an even more hyped up month. As I went to the gym yesterday to continue my working out with my wonderful personal trainer, I noticed a marked increase in population at the gym as well as a sort of fevered atmosphere. It’s as if people want to achieve their 2012 fitness goals in a one hour workout.

This month’s tip is to slow down and to persevere. You will get there if you’ve followed the guidelines I gave you last month for creating your 2012 Achievement List. Step back now and reassess your life and your plans now that the fervor of New Year and the hustle and bustle of the holidays is over.

Constant reassessment of where you are, what you’re doing and where you want to go is what’s required to successfully reach your Achievements! Don’t just make a list and then expect it all to happen. Go back and review the process for coming up with your plans and identifying your limiting beliefs and then reassess your denials and affirmations.
