We talked about this in November but here’s another of Napoleon Hill’s works where he describes the 10 attributes of Initiative and Leadership. They help elaborate on the Qualities of Leadership discussed in November with different wording. Take them in and use them to build your talents.

1. Know definitely what you want (your definite major purpose)

2. Build a practical plan or plans for the achievement of that which you want, making use of the counsel and advice of your Master Mind Group.

3. Surround yourself with an organization made up of men who h ave the knowledge and experience essential for carrying out your Definite Aim.

4. Have sufficient faith in yourself and in your plans to see your aim a finished reality even before you begin to carry out your plans.

5. Do not become discouraged no matter what obstacles you meet. If one plan fails to work substitute other plans until you have found one that will work.

6. Do no guessing but get the facts as the basis for all your plans.

7. Do not be influenced by others to abandon your plans or your aim.

8. Have no set hours of labor. The leader must devote to his task whatever hours are necessary for success.

9. Concentrate upon one thing at a time as you cannot dissipate thought and energy and still be efficient.

10. Whenever possible relegate to others the responsibility of details, but have a system for checking your subordinates to see that these details are accurately attended to. Hold yourself accountable at all times for carrying out all of your plans, bearing in mind that if subordinates fail, it is is you yourself who has failed.

Ideas In Trust

Man does have a creative faculty in him that will reconstruct his work and his career and his youth if he will pay attention to it and obey it.

Every woman has creative ability that she could use, if she would, to remake her home, her family relations, her domestic happiness, her outside career. The trouble is that we do not usually trust this inner urge to create. We haven’t any confidence in our own ideas-because they are our own.

Haven’t you had the experience of thinking of what seemed momentarily a good idea; then discarding it because it was your own and so couldn’t be worth much-and soon after finding that somebody else had conceived the selfsame idea, used it, put it over successfully, and reaped the profits and the credit that might have been yours? And how you felt, when all you could say to yourself was “I thought of that first. Why didn’t I do it?”

We try so hard to hear some thing we think we ought to hear, or something we simply want to hear, that we fail to hear the actual voice at all.

Inspiration – your own creative urge – waits in your heart, and it will transform your life, your happiness, your prosperity if you will only listen ant let it.

Usually it works for you a step or two at a time=and works as you work.

Perhaps at this moment you are refusing, or neglecting, to listen to the voice that is telling you ex¬actly what would get you out of your troubles and into your highest happiness, if you would only obey. And maybe you haven’t “the courage of your own ideas,” maybe you think they are no good because they are yours. Perhaps it never really occurs to you to trust them, because
they are yours.

But oh, my friend, they are not yours! They are simply offered you for use—like everything else we call our own in this world. And they-these ideas that press us for utterance or expression¬-they are not merely something we have the privilege of expressing; we have an obligation to express them.

The purpose of all meditation, of all going into the silence, of all listening for the voice, is to receive ideas.

We have the option whether we will do something worth while in the world’s thinking, in invention, in industry-or remain merely followers and trailers of the men and women who do use their ideas, and lead.

How to Pay Your Bills Quickly

In order to help you establish the all-important prosperous attitude, that God is the Source of man’s supply as the Creator of this rich universe, and that God’s will for you is therefore the wealth of the universe, I suggest that you paraphrase the words of Jehovah to Moses; “I will remember Jehovah God, for He it is that giveth me power to experience wealth.” (Deutereonorny 8: 18)

Perhaps you are thinking, “Yes, but is this kind of thinking practical? Can such attitudes actually help put shoes on the baby, food on the table and pay the rent?” Yes it can!

Whenever a financial need is near, meditate over and over upon this promise from the 46th Psalm” “Be still, and know that I am God.” (psalms 46: 1 0)

This is a prosperity secret successfully used by a housewife which proved to be a great unfailing source of strength and supply when she quietly meditate in this words: “Be still; and know that I am God at work in this situation now.”

The Psalmist was recognizing God as the Source or his supply when he declared, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” (Psalm 23: 1)

This is a good prosperity prayer to declare often.

Finding Your Gold Mine

In the old gold rush days prospectors went out in the mountains in search of the yellow metal. Often the task was long and arduous with little to show for days of struggle and privation.

But when a find was made, the prospector would stake his claim so that others would know that that particular discovery belonged to him.

Of course, some claims turned out to be shallow veins of ore and worth little, while other claims eventually made their owners fabulously wealthy.

In metaphysics, we often speak of claiming our good, and it is one of the surest ways of bringing the good we desire into our lives.

Unlike the prospector, however, when we stake our claim with God, we need have no anxiety about the results.

If you want health, then claim every day that God is your health, that as a child of God you have perfect health (the present temporary appearance notwithstanding), that Divine Life brings well-being to every part of your body.

If you want prosperity, then claim every day that God is your prosperity and the Giver of every good gift, that God knows you and is ready to more than supply your every need.

If you want peace and harmony, then claim every day that God brings you the peace that passeth all understanding, that all things work together for good to them that love God.

Whatever it is you wish to bring into your life, stake your claim to it.
Of course, we often claim negative things for ourselves without fully realizing it.

Every time you say, “My cold,” “My headache”, you are claiming those things for yourself.

Affirm your divine kinship. All that the Father hath of health, and happiness, and abundance, is yours—if you stake your claim with God.
