Which Comes First – The Chicken or the Egg?

chicken_or_egg_400_clr_10064No, this isn’t an early Easter post 🙂

It’s about your expectations and needs.

The question you must always answer is “Can you feel happy BEFORE you have the actual manifestation”? Hopefully the answer to this is yes!

Close your eyes and start to feel what it will be like when whatever it is you want has come into your life. Feel the joy, the happiness, the ecstasy you’ll be experiencing when it happens. Garner these feelings BEFORE you receive the manifestation.  Remember that it’s a three step process – Ask (you’ve already done that), Receive (the Universe has already created it and brought it to your door), Allow – this is the key – eliminating resistance and creating the vibration that will enable you to allow you to accept what you’ve asked for.

So many of us have resistance and so we don’t get what we want and have asked for. And as typical humans we then blame it on the Law of Attraction, simply proclaiming that “The Law of Attraction doesn’t work”.  At some point we need to take responsibility and realize that the Law of Attraction works but we have to go through the steps and “do” our own work.

We are vibrational beings and our primary moment by moment goal should be to raise our vibrations in an attempt to feel the joy that is our right.  We can feel joy without having something in front of us.

Let me give you an example. Even if you are tired of hearing about my running experiences, they help you understand what I’m talking about.  I am looking forward to the running trek across Tennessee in July. I’ve been aiming for this for almost a year now and whenever I start to feel “down” for some other reason, I always “go” there in my mind and it raises my vibration immediately. I feel happy. Do I have the experience yet? No, it’s not July and I’ve never done this event before but I can feel how I will feel in the 10 day trip. My vibration skyrockets when I do this.

But that’s not a physical manifestation, you say. True. As I was planning this post I realized that even though I have not manifested a car yet (because I haven’t made up my mind as to which one I want – we’ve talked about that before), I get great joy and pleasure out of imagining each car at the time I think I want that kind of vehicle. My mind gets off any problems or troubles and I smile and think about sitting in and driving that particular vehicle and I am happy. This feeling can last as long as you’d like. You just have to continue thinking about the feelings you’ll have.

In the health arena, imagine and then feel how you’ll react and be inside when you get the clean bill of health and the doctor tells you everything is fine. Hold on to that happy feeling – like you’re doing cartwheels. Or, if you want, envision how great you’ll feel when you feel strong and able to run or lift weights or just make it through the day with tons of energy – whatever it is you are asking for.

Do NOT entertain any “Buts” – get off your “but” and if one comes into your thoughts, then immediately say “That is not my truth” and go right back to envisioning and feeling the joy associated with receiving that gift.  Remember the 68 second process and try to hold onto that good vibration and excitement for at least 68 seconds  – simply basking in the joy of receipt.

Try it, you’ll like it and you’ll realize you don’t really need the manifestation in order to experience the happiness and other feelings that go along with the manifestation. Plus, you’ll find yourself going to various “places” in your mind and emotions during the day just to feel better!

Let me know how it’s going for you.

Stop Telling Your Story!

box-stop-telling-story1

STOP! Stop telling your story and rewrite your legacy instead.

Why am I being so “mean”? We’re trying to focus on generating the momentum you want to have – the love, excitement, joy and happiness. Most of our stories start the momentum of something we don’t necessarily want to continue.  Even if the “moral of the story” is that you changed and now your life is better, you don’t want to be telling the entire path you took to get there because that starts the momentum of what you were and didn’t like/want. So, why would you want the momentum to be carrying you along in the old direction?

“It’s not that simple” you’re thinking. “I can’t explain what’s going on in my life without telling the history.” Not true.

You can say

I now know what it feels like to be excited 24 hours a day and how to get myself into a wonderful state.

You don’t have to say

A few years ago I was really depressed and even desperate to the point of doing something I would regret. I tried this and I tried that but nothing seemed to work. I really hit bottom. I didn’t know what to do, where to turn, how to get out of the dumps. I tried therapy, I tried self-help books, I tried everything and nothing worked. Then I found Abraham-Hicks and now I know what it feels like to be excited 24 hours a day.

Even when I was writing these made up statements, I could feel a different momentum with the second one, couldn’t you?microphone story

What advantage did hearing the second quote give you? Anything? Did the information in it matter? Not really. It’s just history. What we’re trying to focus on is the NOW and making the NOW be as great as it possibly can be. We want the Universe to  really sense our positive vibrations and bring us more of what we’re feeling – more joy, love, happiness, health, well being, peace of mind – whatever it is you want!

So next time you hear yourself telling people your story about how you got here, stop and ask yourself “Is this the momentum I want to increase?” If not, excuse yourself and get to the punch line or tell a different story. If so, then continue on. You’ll hear me talk more and more about your story and legacy in weeks to come!

Let us know what your experiences with this awareness is – put it in the comment box below.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1 Starting a new feature called “Momentum Monday”.

Begin your week this week by paying attention to your momentum. Your momentum and your vibrations go hand in hand. And sometimes once you’ve gained momentum it’s very difficult to stop it – that can be good if you’re on a really positive, upbeat roll so to speak.

However, if you’ve begun on a downward spiral of momentum, ride it out (but don’t continue to add to i) and it will be over – at that point you can start over and create your own positive momentum.  Consider meditating or even taking a nap to end the downward movement of that type of momentum.

Think of things you love and talk to yourself about your feelings regarding them. For example, if I want to improve my momentum I’ll start thinking about one of my races that was very enjoyable and where I met great people – I would probably pick the Valentine’s Day Ultra or the 6 day race from last December. I would talk to myself about how much fun I had, how great it was to be outside for 6 days, what terrific people I met, how I met my goal mileage and how I felt about it and continue on.

The Universe responds to our vibrations and our vibrations are a product of our momentum.

When you catch yourself gaining (or preferably when you start) momentum, you can change it if you catch it early enough. Try to move to another “Momentum disc” (a spinning disc works for a visual – as if you’re standing on that disc and floating along. Stop talking and feeling about the things you do NOT want more of. Get your momentum going on the things you do want more of.

Til next Monday – comment below if you like Momentum Mondays.

How Do You Deal With Disappointment?

iStock_000014869787SmallSo, I’m sitting here writing on my blog instead of being out in California running in a 100 mile race. Bummer.

Then, tomorrow I’ll be sitting here writing (or working) rather than going to a long awaited Publicity Summit in New York City. Double Bummer.

Plus, I have to unpack everything both for the race and for the conference since I pack a week ahead of time.  Triple Bummer since that’s reliving the preparations!

On top of that disappointment I have to deal with the concern and disappointment associated with the reason I can’t attend these events – medical issues that are as yet undiagnosed. So that would make it a Quadruple Bummer, right?

Sounds like an Olympic Event to me!

What should I do? What are my options?  Let’s see:

  • I could sit around and mope and tell everyone how miserable I am (I probably did enough of that already though 🙂 )
  • I could sit around and worry about what’s wrong with me and being that I’m a doctor, I could use my very active imagination to come up with some horrible choices.
  • I could sit around and be depressed that I can’t do any physical activity and I’m itching to run and add to that that maybe I won’t ever be able to run again (of course I don’t know that – it would be my imagination again).iStock_000013901371Small

Does all that sound productive, positive or even like any fun? Heck no!

Not only are those options not productive but they are also very damaging. Remember that you can imprint a concept onto the Universe in 17 seconds. Then when you add another 17 seconds and another 17 seconds the power of that thought and concept markedly increases. You HAVE to  interrupt that 17 second repeat cycle or Momentum gets going. Once the momentum starts, it takes a great deal of energy to reverse or stop it! Sometimes you just have to let it run it’s course because the more you try to stop it, the more resistance you are putting up and you’re apt to continue to fall into the Abyss of self-pity or whatever emotional roller coaster you’re riding on.

Newtons cradleIt’s hard for someone to be “positive” all the time – I’m not advocating Pollyanna behavior because that’s not reality. However, I am advocating doing anything you can to stop that 17 second process from proceeding directly into Momentum! This is the phrase that I use to interrupt my thoughts when they are going down a path I don’t want to follow (such as all the terrible things that could be wrong with me) – “That is NOT my TRUTH” – when I say that, it interrupts that 17 second process and it puts the skids on the momentum. Sometimes I have to repeat it to myself many times an hour (or even a minute) but as long as I remember to use it, I don’t head down into the abyss.  Saying that phrase also allows me time to think of something else that can get my emotions/vibrations on a plane where I want them. In my case, I switch from the “oh no, poor me” thoughts to visualizing my long anticipated run across Tennessee this summer. When I do that, I feel happy and my vibrations are raised to a level that puts me in a much happier state and those are the vibrations I really WANT to put out to the Universe. I don’t want the Universe answering my “poor me” phone. I want it answering the “I am fine and dandy and can do anything” phone.  It’s pretty simple to think of something that makes you happy. It can be in the future or in the past – but it’s a memory associated with a happy feeling.

We’ve all heard stories of the Prisoners of War who survived because of their imagination and thoughts and ability to put themselves somewhere outside of their actual environment. That’s what we have to do when we experience disappointment.

Another thing to do to face the disappointment and prevent the momentum of feeling “down” is to put your energy into some other activity or hobby. Preferably something that will engage you so that you won’t have time to travel down that other path.  If you’re not feeling well, you can read or even write in a journal (being careful about what you’re writing though – try to focus on the good things).

A good friend gave me this advice (without knowing that it was advice) yesterday – “I try to appreciate each day”. I like that approach and it really hit home for me. It’s great when friends just say stuff and it rings your bell.

Do whatever you can to stop the momentum and raise your vibration. That is the key to recovering from disappointment. Then just “rinse and repeat” – it’s a slow process and there may be many steps you have to take but just take them one at a time and you will get there. You just want to be moving in the upward direction.

Friday The 13th – What’s In Your Belief System?

custom_calendar_11443 It’s not even Halloween and we have a “Friday the 13th”! But fortunately it’s not also a full moon. I will tell you that the full moon does bring the “weird” out – after all those years in an Emergency Room, you can always tell when it’s a full moon by the activity in the ER. I”m sure most of you have experienced the same thing. But what about Friday the 13th (no matter what month it happens in)? What’s up with that? Interestingly, the superstition around it is found primarily since 1900. That’s not very old. But there are estimates according to Wikipedia (take that for what it’s worth) that between 17-21 MILLION people are affected by a fear of this day, making it the most feared day there fri 13th1is.

Are you affected by this and other superstitions? If so, why? When did you first become aware of any type of “issue” with Friday the 13th (or seeing black cats or walking under ladders or any other superstition we embrace)? The origin for you will be different than the origin of the person sitting next to you. Often it’s built on a story and we all know that children (and many adults) revel in stories. Often, older siblings like to torture the younger with horror stories. If told enough times and by the “right” people, then this story will become embedded in your subconscious and will become a belief. Remember  that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking over and over (Abraham-Hicks). Wouldn’t it be sad if you found out that this superstition you’ve had all these years, whether it’s about Friday the 13th or some other one, was instilled in you simply because someone kept telling you the same story over and over again?

The point is NOT to make you feel badly because you have some superstition but it’s to make you examine your beliefs closely and not be afraid to ask “where the heck did I get that idea from?” And then go deep within to see if it came from your parents, your siblings, looking_in_dug_hole_400_clr_6593 teachers, religious leaders, friends etc. You have to be willing to examine these things. But let’s say you do look closely but you can’t figure out where an idea/belief came from. Then what? Does that make it true? Not necessarily. It may mean that you just can’t remember who or what was responsible for you thinking that way. Sometimes it’s too painful to come up with the results. You then have to look at the belief and say to yourself “Do I want to continue believing that? Is that in my value system?” If so, great, just move on. If not, then we can start working on clearing the old believe and replacing it with the new belief. We have and will continue to talk more about how to do that in other posts.

But for now, try to look at today, Friday the 13th, as a great day and a day when nothing but GOOD LUCK prevails in your life. Declare everything good that happens no matter what it is! Try it and see what happens.
