Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone

comfort zone4 How many times in your life have you had an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone?

How many times have you done so?

Take a minute and sit back and think about your answers. Then think about why you might not have taken that step (if that applies to you). What was the underlying reason?

Most of the time the reason a person doesn’t step out of their comfort zone is due to some sort of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of change, fear of embarrassment, etc.

Remember, though, that when you fear something, you are really attracting it more of it.  So, stop a moment and ask yourself if you really want more fear in your life? You really need to “dumb down” things like that. Once you’re wrapped up in the situation, it’s hard to break everything up into the appropriate pieces in order to work on them one by one. And you have to work on them one by one in order to make any inroads.

That “breaking down” process is the same as the one I talk about when addressing how to accomplish your goals.

I have the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone this coming week and actually will be stepping out of it because I’m going to New York to participate in an event where I will be presenting short sound bites to several members of the media. I am not comfortable with that at all. I have three different topics and that adds to my anxiety.

But what I’ve realized I have to do is simply take a piece of paper and a pencil (or use the computer) and listing the different parts of the anxiety and then what I’m afraid of and then what to do about it.

What’s the problem/situation? What am I afraid of? What am I going to do about it?
I have my “pitches” but don’t have
the follow-up information down.
Stammering because I don’t know
what to say or how to answer their
questions
 Write down my information before
I need to practice it
I don’t think I know enough  Looking like a fool  Say my favorite affirmation, use
EFT and realize that I do know
enough about these topics and
that it’s just my fear that’s
blocking my thought processes

And of course there would be more rows with all my concerns listed – how I look, do I have the right clothes etc.  There are many of these that it’s just too late too do anything about so what good does being concerned with them  do.

Take some time if this is an upcoming issue for you and try this technique.

Hope it helps. I know it’s helped me.

Practice What You Wish To Become

practice 2Dr. Anne Kunath is my long time friend, mentor and former business partner (til she had the nerve to retire…ha ha). This phrase of hers has stuck with me all these years (way too many to admit to). It also fits with the theme of the week.

At first glance this may seem difficult. After all, if you could be like that (practice), then you wouldn’t need to become it would you? However, if you break it down into every day life, you’ll see how simple and powerful it is.

Little boys want to become major league baseball players. So what do they do? They practice. And they don’t practice being bad, do they? Heck no. They practice being the best they can possibly be. You can even see the cute little fellows strutting around in their professional looking uniforms acting like they are walking into Yankee Stadium. They walk and act much differently in these uniforms than they do in their everyday jeans. As a parent (or a coach or a friend or mentor), though, your job is to encourage them to act the same way (have the same strut so to speak) all the time, NOT just when they are wearing their uniforms.

You’ve heard the phrase “act as if”? Well, this is essentially the same thing but worded differently. If you want to abundant and prosperous, find out how others who are prosperous act. It could be that you desire prosperity in only one arena such as wealth or health or maybe you are reaching for prosperity in every area of your life. Regardless of what you’re after, find qualities that people who are as prosperous possess.

You can use segment intending to help you practice what you wish to become. Each morning and before each segment of your day, envision exactly what you want to happen in that particular section of your day. If it’s a meeting and you’re seeking to be heard more, see that happening using the specifics of the agenda for the meeting. This can be done in the rest room, at your desk, in your car, in your bed, or anywhere you have a few minutes. Keep a journal of how often you do the segment intending and the results. As with anything else, it will get better the more you do it. You are, in essence, telling the Universe what you want. Then you can just allow the Universe to bring those results to you.

Every day revisit your goals and desires. You should have then written out and you can take them with you in your wallet. But, if you, at least read them once a day, you’ll have them ingrained in your subconscious. This, along with your practicing the right behaviors and thoughts, will bring your goals into your life.

Try it, it’s not really that hard.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“Appreciation and love, and alignment to that which is Source, is the ultimate “giving back,” so to speak, for in your pain or struggle, you have nothing to give back. What you are living is always an exact replication of your vibrational patterns of thought. Nothing could be more fair than life as you are living it, for as you are thinking, you are vibrating, and as you are vibrating, you are attracting—and so you are always getting back the essence of what you are giving.”  ~Abraham [Excerpted from the workshop: Money and the Law of Attraction on August 31, 2008]

This is kind of funny. Although I do not believe there are coincidences or accidents, things like this always make me chuckle as I reaffirm that statement. I had this Momentum Monday planned a long time ago. But I wrote yesterday’s post yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I came to the site to write more on this Momentum Monday and saw the exact same concept worded differently.

I love the phrase from Abraham “for in your pain or struggle, you have nothing to give back”. This is so very true. When you’re feeling down in the dumps or trying to deal with the negative things going on in your life, you really don’t have anything left to give to others. It’s hard to reach down deep inside to be there for others when you’re having pain.

But, if you are able to or at least try to get yourself to a point where you can make someone else smile or laugh or ask them how they are (if they seem a bit down themselves), you will find that a) you forget for at least a few minutes about your own difficulties and b) your vibration raises to some degree. Remember that it’s a matter of momentum; so, if you can begin to change your vibration, you’ve begun to improve your momentum and in an upward swing. Let’s say you then go find another person (whether it’s in person or email or by text) to inquire about their health or well-being. That will up your momentum and vibration a bit more. You’ll notice that you begin to feel better too. It almost becomes addictive because you feel better and like that feeling so you want to do more of what makes you feel like that – isn’t that what most addictions are about?

Hopefully you won’t be in this situation this week but if you’re not as happy as you’d like, try to reach out to others and see what happens. Let us all know how it went and what you did.

Have a great week!

Stop Interfering With Your LIfe

stop-interferingAs I was watching “The Shift” with Dr. Wayne Dyer (may he rest in peace), it struck me that we really do spend so much time interfering in our own lives.

Instead of realizing that the Universe has heard our “order” and desires, and will be delivering them to us, we start trying to control HOW things happen and WHAT happens. Who are we to think we can out do the Universe anyway? How absurd a concept is that? When we think that things aren’t happening fast enough for us or that they aren’t going to happen at all, then our vibrations actually become lower because we enter the human realm instead of allowing ourselves to be lifted up to the more Universal wavelengths.

I don’t know about you but I do not want to be held back to the human lower wavelengths. How do you stop that? You recognize that things will come to you that need to come to you in order for you to fulfill your purpose in life.  Once you relax into that feeling, the calmness will take over and you’ll allow the Universe to deliver your order.

When you are contemplating something, always sit back and close your eyes. Just allow yourself to feel. Does the course of action you’re contemplating “feel right”  or does it create anxiety inside of you? Obviously, when you take on a new endeavor, there will be a degree of anxiety, but this anxiety should also be mixed with the excitement and joy of knowing you’re working toward your purpose.  If that feeling of excitement is absent, you need to revisit what you’re thinking about.

If the excitement is there, then go for it! But repeatedly ask for Divine Wisdom to show you the way. The Universe will provide you with guidance even more than you’ll find on the internet or by asking others. Ask for the Divine Guidance before you start searching for others to help. This will help ensure that you get the best possible help there is.

Stay out of your own way. Stop second guessing what you’re doing. Follow your passion. If something feels good, it is good and will continue to be good. If you have any trepidation, back off and regroup and head in a different direction. It could still be aiming for the same goal but perhaps with new processes or systems. Listen to what’s happening inside of you. It’s so important that you pay attention to your gut (in more ways than one but that’s a topic for other posts).

Stop interfering in your own life! Let the Universe provide you with the tools and people you need to accomplish what you want to achieve.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“You don’t have to go back and deal with childhood issues, because those childhood issues produced a vibration within you that you are still offering — which is producing today issues. You can shift your vibration a whole lot easier when you’re dealing with today issues, than trying to deal with childhood issues. It’s the same vibration. That vibration that was creating childhood issues, now it’s creating today issues. Deal with it in your now. “Which thought feels better? Which thought feels better? Which thought feels better?” ~Abraham [Excerpted from the workshop: San Diego, CA on July 31, 1999]

It’s funny that this came up after my post from yesterday (I think it was yesterday) talking about my fear of change coming from my childhood. The difference, though, is that I’m not going back to “deal with” the childhood issues, just identifying why I am so afraid of change – that is my current adult vibration and that’s what I want to correct.

This is so important for all those who want to spend time analyzing their childhood and it’s effect on the present. When you do that, especially if you’re doing it with another person (counselor, friend, clergy person, relative, etc), you are reliving it and therefore the vibrations (usually fear, anger, resentment, shame – a biggee, guilt etc) will recur and take over your current vibration. You don’t want that at all. You want to create your good vibrations right now and from here on out. Childhood emotions and reactions are self-centered (that is the function and protection inherent in a child) and as children we think everything bad is our fault. Thus the guilt and there is often shame as well. You don’t want those emotions to persist throughout your life. If you don’t release them and work to improve your vibrations, you will continue to exist within those lower vibrations of guilt, resentment, shame, anger, etc.

If you do “go back” to your childhood, get what you need and get back out again. Look at it as a cave that you want to visit and leave as soon as possible. Get the information about the event and then return to your adult state!
