Emmet Fox – “The Cafeteria”

As you may have noticed, I love Emmet Fox and his delightful life lessons…. You’ve heard us talk about the fact that you have to take ACTION in order for things to work. “The Art of Making Things Happen” shows you the action steps you need to take.

The Cafeteria

by Emmet Fox

Don’t wait for something to turn up. Don’t be content to let things drift along, hoping for the best. it is not spiritual to ‘put up’ with inharmonious conditions. If the conditions of your life are not to your liking, you must get to work on your own consciousness and, by raising that above the outer picture, cause those conditions to become something nearer to your heart’s desire. And you must keep on doing this until you find your True Place.

I had an amusing experience when I first came to America. Passing an attractive looking restaurant, I went inside, and, selecting a table, sat down and waited. Strangely, as it seemed to me then, nothing happened.

I sat there and continued to wait – indefinitely as it seemed. I couldn’t understand the reason for this neglect. All around me, people were enjoying their food, and only I was left out in the cold. After a while the truth of the situation slowly dawned on me – it was a cafeteria. (This system had no yet made its appearance in England in those days.)

I then quickly realized that while there was plenty of food of every kind to be obtained, one had to go forward and claim it for oneself, or go without.

The universe is run exactly on the lines of a cafeteria. Unless you claim – mentally – what you want, you may sit and wait forever. Of course, you should not claim in detail – that is outlining – but you must positively claim health, harmony, and True Place, if you really want those things.

I don’t know about you but this story changed my outlook on how to make changes in my own life when I first read it. I guess that’s because it’s so easy to understand. I hope this short story has helped you as much as it did me.

If you want more to help you shape your life, try out “The Art of Making Things Happen” and while you’re there you’ll be able to pick up your free audio answering your questions on how and why things have been happening in your life and those of your friends and family.

Emmet Fox – "No Waiting"

These past two weeks I’ve been talking about “The Art of Making Things Happen”. Of course I want you to go over and take a look and see what it is you’ll be missing out on but I also want to give you information and examples of how learning How to Make Things Happen will dramatically change your life.

More Emmet Fox of course. What he is trying to tell you is that you have to take action. Things won’t happen from outside you. You have to make the changes inside.

Remember what we’ve said about how there is that energy out there surrounding you. It’s just waiting for you to place your order for what you want. You don’t just go into a store and say “I want a car”.

First, you have to decide which car dealer you want to go to. Then you have to tell the sales person what details you want. The Universe is the same. That energy surrounding you is just waiting for you to tell it what you want!

No Waiting

by Emmet Fox

Don’t wait about for God to act dramatically- because He won’t. If you want anything to happen, you must bring about a change in your own mental outlook, whereupon your outer experience will automatically change to correspond. When people expect a dramatic miracle from the outside, they are really hoping to change conditions without changing themselves- to get something for nothing, in fact, and that would be a violation of Cosmic Law.

Don’t wait for God to tell you what to do from the outside-He won’t. People have said to me, ‘Well, I am ready. Whatever God wants me to do, I am ready. If He wants me to go to California, or to Europe, or to start any work for Him, I am ready.’

Such people, I have noticed, are apt to go on ‘being ready’ indefinitely without anything ever happening. The fact is that they are waiting for a dramatic experience such as came to Moses on Sinai, and to Paul on the road to Damascus. Or probably they expect a Western Union boy to arrive with a telegram of instructions from heaven. None of these things will happen.

If you are really ‘ready to do God’s work,’ you will have a clear idea of what you are going to do and how you propose to go about doing it, and probably you will know approximately where you are going to do it too. This is being ready. If you do not have any definite desire or plan, then you are not ‘ready’; so don’t deceive yourself but get ready by treating for guidance. Treat for guidance, inspiration, wisdom, and right activity, until you have a clear, vivid, and whole-hearted enthusiasm for a definite plan. Then you will really be ready to do the Lord’s work, and if you vitalize your plan with unceasing treatment, nothing can prevent your success.

The Obstacle In Your Path

We’re continuing in the “The Art of Making Things Happen” series in honor of our new product “The Art of Making Things Happen” (pretty profound huh 🙂 )

Remember also that when you provide your name and primary email address you’ll get an audio that will answer many of your questions about how and why things happen.

This little story should spur you into some sort of action. You really can change your life and turn things around.

Read on and see what I mean

THE OBSTACLE IN OUR PATH

In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.

Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road.

After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one’s condition.

See how easy it’s going to be once you uncover your limiting beliefs and replace them with the beliefs and power you really do have – that power which will change your life forever!

The Art of Making Things Happen” is a full step by step course on how to turn your life around.

Turning On Love Brings Practical Results

Turning Love On Brings Practical Results

You can actually bombard people, situations, and conditions with love and as a result produce almost miraculous results. As you go about your daily life, silently affirm to everything in your world “let divine love be made alive in you.” Do this to your clothes, your car, the inanimate objects in your office or home, the bills you pay, the income you receive – affirm divine love to everything. Do this even to the empty spaces in your life and also to the good you’re looking for and have asked for – even though it hasn’t yet appeared.

Everything seems to respond to your thoughts of love. To the people you meet during the day, strangers and friends, as well as to those in your family declare silently “Let divine love be made alive in you.”

You can deliberately produce divine love by thinking loving thoughts about yourself and others and by affirming divine love. But in a practical manner, you will also have wonderful success by speaking appreciative, kind, understanding words to people. Kind words produce like results – the kind of results that mean a new life, increase and real happiness for you.

It is those people who seem the most difficult, who may even seem hostile, that need your radiation of love the most. Their hostility is their soul’s cry for loving recognition. When you generate sufficient love for them, all discord will dissolve.

Here’s a quick and simple affirmation to say repeatedly, especially if you’re in constant contact with the public or any customer service business, or anything for that matter – “Divine Love is in control and all is well.” This is NOT just for relationships. It’s for every aspect of your life.

Remember “Divine Love is in control and all is well.” Practice that day in and day out and it will come naturally to you whenever you might need an extra dose of love.
