More Secrets of Tithing

More Secrets of Tithing

The ancients knew intuitively that giving, sharing and putting God first financially was the first step to permanent, enduring prosperity.  Tithing was a household word in Bible times, and over and over their sharing of the tenth brought them peace, power and plenty. They gave, not the last and the least but the first and the best – their giving made them rich. They felt that their tithing practices not only prospered them but protected them from the negative experiences of life. Their acts of giving were occasions of celebration.

Here’s a story from Catherine Ponder’s “The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity”.

A Woman in Oklahoma – “When I began to tithe in faith the small amount I had, the first thing I noticed was that the chronic car repair bills ceased. Money not only began to flow in unexpectedly, but new business opportunities also prospered me. Also, the quality of my life improved so that I now enjoy a harmonious lifestyle. Another surprise has been that a longstanding health problem no longer plagues me. It simply disappeared.”

Just as the farmer returns one-tenth of his seed for soil enrichment, so does impersonal giving and sharing, open the way to enriched living on all levels of life to anyone who faithfully practices it.

Another story:

A person in Missouri: “I am grateful to have learned of the power in tithing. I have friends who have studied along inspirational and/or metaphysical lines for years. Yet they continue to struggle financially because they refuse to tithe. I have other friends who are studying along these same lines whom I have been able to introduce to the practice of tithing, and they no longer “strain and strive”. instead they “tithe and thrive”.

It’s been said that the person who takes up the practice of tithing will have at least six surprises:

1) He will be surprised at the amount of money he has to give to God’s work.

2) He will be surprised at the wisdom and good judgment tithing gives him in using the remaining nine-tenths of his income.

3) He will be surprised at the ease with which he can meet his financial obligations.

4) He will be surprised at the deepening of his prosperity consciousness.

5) He will be surprised at how easily he can go from one tenth to larger giving.

6) He will be surprised at himself for not having adopted the tithing plan sooner!

I can tell you from personal experience that starting to tithe made all the difference in my entire life, not just my financial prosperity.

The Ancient Law of Prosperity

The Ancient Law of Prosperity

In ancient times “ten” was considered “the magic number of increase”.

The Ancient Law of Prosperity is this: True prosperity has a spiritual basis. God is the Source of your supply. Your mind, body, abilities, talents, education, experience job or profession are all instruments and channels of your prosperity, but God is the Source. Therefore, you must do something definite and consistent to keep in touch with that rich Source if you want to be continually prosperous.

Sharing is the beginning of financial increase. Systematic giving opens the way for systematic receiving. However, that giving must be done in a certain way:  through the consistent sharing of your tithes with God’s work and workers at the point or points where you are receiving spiritual help and inspiration.

The word “tithe” means “tenth” and the ancient people felt that 10 was “the magic number of increase”.

Think of tithing as taking God as your financial power (remember that you can put “universe, energy, vibration, Higher Power, Buddha, whatever you want instead of God).

Many of the get rich quick schemes fail because they focus on getting, not giving. They have no spiritual foundation.

There are people who are very wealthy and yet do not tithe. If you look at them you’ll see that they may be prosperous in the financial aspect of their lives but what about their sense of peace of mind, health or body? What’s the state of their relationships and their overall well-being? True prosperity includes peace of mind and health of body as well as financial peace and plenty.

Read Genesis 28:20-22 and see where Jacob, at a low point in his life, made a tithing “deal” with God – he asked for prosperity, guidance, peace of mind and reconciliation with his family. In turn he promised “Of all that thou shalt give me, I will surely give the tenth unto thee.”

The next several days we’ll talk more about tithing. I can personally vouch for the importance and success of this. Read “The Richest Man in Babylon” amongst other books to find out what man’s financial basics should be.

Take a New Lease on Life

Take a New Lease on Life

I have heard it said that “work is the highest form of play”. It’s up to you whether work is a pleasant activity or a burdensome toil for you. This depends on your attitudes about yourself, others and the world in general.

Work really is divine – your TRUE work and true compensation seek you as much as you seek them. Your true work is what you do best – and from what you get true satisfaction. Look  at people who go to medical school, law school, become successful executives, etc but then just quit that profession and finally do what they want – and HAVE wanted all their lives. It’s just that they allowed themselves to be influenced by others (usually their parents).

So why don’t you take a new lease on life today – start by declaring “I sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm. I have great faith to do the things that I ought to be doing!”

If you want to get into work that satisfies you, try this success formula:

1) As best you can, form a mental picture of what you want your life to be like.

2) After you have formed the picture of what you desire, begin developing and living your desire mentally. Start thinking of your desired results as if they already were obtained or existed in your life. When you do this you take mental possession of these things and quicken its manifestation

3) Ask divine intelligence (I call it Divine Mind) to show you the next step toward attaining your desired picture of good. When you do this, you’ll be shown whether it means going to night school, making drastic changes in your work and way of life, or developing a more constructive attitude about your present job and its potential. Once you’re shown the next step though, you have to follow it! You have to have the courage to say “I asked for the info, now I have to do something with it” – remember that the Universe loves action. Have faith knowing that you asked to be guided down this path and it was shown to you as part of your Divine Right and your Divine Plan (just like the Passion Test and Purpose Driven Life talk about – it’s all the same concept – just different words and titles).

4) Persist and persevere, knowing that this congenial work can and shall be yours. Emerson said that everything has a price and if that price is not paid, then not that thing but something else is obtained. And since you don’t want something else (and may already have that ‘something else’ you really do want to persist in paying the price in both inner and outer ways. You will gain what you truly desire – especially when you follow these steps.

5) Continue giving your best in your present situation, even though you may be mentally living beyond it. Above all, keep your spirits high knowing that what you truly want is yours for the taking.

As you travel within (mentally) using these techniques, there is NO WAY you can stand still on the outside. You have set things in motion that will bring you what you want.

Free Yourself of Criticism

Free Yourself of Criticism

There is plenty of room at the top of any profession or line of work IF you are daring enough to free yourself from the usual thoughts – bickering, jealousies and petty criticisms.

If you find yourself starting to participate in this, simply say to yourself “There is no criticism in me, for me or against me. Divine Harmony now reigns supreme in my life”. This will also protect you from any negative thoughts from others. It also helps when you give them your blessings and good thoughts – this helps turn their attitudes around without them even knowing it.

You have to be constructive in order to be successful. And you have to surround yourself with others who are successful too. You won’t see successful companies bickering and fighting. Do you think they have people at Apple or Microsoft that constantly sit there and say (or think) “that won’t work -that’s a really stupid idea”. Heck no. I think Apple is probably an exceptional company to model after no matter the size of yours. They couldn’t have come up with all those ideas if they weren’t a group of open-minded, enthusiastic and constructive people who feed off one-another.

Take a look in your life – do you find yourself criticizing? Don’t think that it doesn’t matter if it’s the news or some political figure that you’re criticizing – the effect on YOUR life will be the same. Criticism (not the constructive pointing out to people or children you are responsible for teaching) is negative and by being negative it “negates” the good you’re looking for and working so hard to produce in other areas of your life.

As I write this, I think of the many times during the day that I mutter discontent at the product I receive from other people far away – we review cases that are sent to us by various hospitals. And they are supposed to follow guidelines and checklists to ensure that we have all the info needed. Well, it seems that every other case is missing something. And I realize that my “nuts, why can’t they ever get it right” is destroying all the other good I’m trying to bring about in my life. So, Monday – I will start anew and just say that I know they are sending me a perfectly compiled case and they are happy with what they do. And of course I will start it with “there is no criticism in me, for me or against me”. It’s great to have revelations like this as I try to help you!

The Saturation Technique

The Saturation Technique

Saturate yourself in atmospheres of plenty and in association with successful people. When it seems that your greater success and prosperity are not coming, take time to walk through banks, observing successful people  who have plenty of money. Visit beautiful new buildings and stores. Move through the richest section of your city and countryside where the abundance of God and man are obvious. We have two specific neighborhoods here in San Antonio where you feel the vibration of abundance as soon as you cross the boundary into that neighborhood.

You should also associate with creative people and those with great talent. Do what makes you feel rich – attend the opera  or a concert, visit art galleries, go to plays, etc. For me it’s going to games at Yankee Stadium and getting seats right behind home plate!

Read success stories and autobiographies of famous people. You’ll see the challenges that they have dealt with and still became successful. This should renew our feeling that we can and shall achieve our goals.  If it’s the outdoors that gives you a feeling of richness, spend time outside – in your garden, walking, riding your bike, enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Do whatever makes you feel rich and takes your mind away from the current job dissatisfaction you are experiencing.

Saturate your mind and body in rich ideas, rich associations, rich atmospheres and in any activity, inner or outer, which brings a feeling of richness to your inner being, especially during those times when it seems that success is slow in manifesting.

Make The Most of Your Present Situation

Whether it is more satisfaction in your present work, or another step up the ladder in your work; or whether it is a whole new career you desire, or financial freedom from all organized work – your goal can be attained. you need not feel “trapped” by present conditions. There is always something you can do about it. “Divine intelligence now works in me and my life to will and to do whatever is form y highest good, and divine intelligence cannot fail.”

Follow through on whatever ideas or events that present themselves to you for change. Stop thinking about or talking about present dissatisfaction. Forget it,let it go. Then begin to bring about order, harmony and beauty into your present job. if you are dissatisfied, set about doing everything possible to make your job more pleasant and orderly. Clean out file drawers, straighten up your desk. Give fellow workers the benefit of your praise, sincere appreciation, words of kindness as well as silent blessings. As you give the current situation the benefit of your highest thoughts and actions, you help to establish order, harmony and satisfaction for all concerned. when you make the best of your present situation, greater good will reveal itself.
