Act “As If” – Bring Home That Oscar

act as if ticketsYou’ve heard this all before but it’s so important to help change our lives. I also thought it was good timing since we just had the Emmy Awards. However, this concept should be applied all year round.

You have to “act as if xxxxx” and you fill in the blanks for the x’s. For instance, if you want to be prosperous, you have to act prosperous. If you want to be loving or having loving relationships, you have to act as if you are loving or in a loving relationship.

This is very similar to visualization but it’s the external application in a sense. When you visualize, you see your success in your mind’s eye. When you “act as if”, you behave as if you already have whatever it is you want. And you should do this anyway because you DO already have it (the Universe has manifested if for you, you just have to materialize it now by allowing it into your life). So, if the Universe has delivered it to your doorstep why not do something that gets you closer to the door so you can open it and find that it’s sitting there on your doorstep. You can place your order from a magazine, pay for it, the company fills the order and sends it, the delivery company delivers it to your doorstop. But you might think you didn’t receive it because you haven’t opened your door yet to look on the front porch. One little thing changes your entire view.

So, start acting right now. If you want to be more prosperous, learn about the Wallet Process and the Prosperity Game. These are simple and easy methods to improve your situation. This doesn’t mean to just go spending all your money assuming that more will come in. But don’t be thinking every minute that you can’t afford this or that or that you wish you could afford something. That is focusing on the lack. When you walk by a car dealer that has cars you might like, stand up straight and think about yourself sitting in that car (in fact, you should go in and shop and sit in the car and feel as if it’s yours, smelling the new car smell). I had a friend that finally broke down and bought a new car which she had hesitated doing since she only drove about 3 miles a day. She said it make a phenomenal difference in her outlook because just driving the new car made her feel so prosperous. You can start that process simply by getting in or even taking it for a test drive. You don’t have to buy it. Tell the sales person that you’re interested but not ready to decide yet. Don’t get caught in the “I can’t afford it” blues when you’re talking to the Sales people. Just let them know you’re in the beginning stages and don’t want any pressure.

Use the Wallet Process – put a $100 (or a $50) bill in your wallet – don’t worry – you’re not going to spend it. Then when you pass a store and see something you’d like to have, in your mind imagine and visualize yourself paying for that object with the money in your pocket. Keep doing this over and over. Soon you’ll feel really prosperous – spending as much as you want on whatever you want! And you still have that bill in your pocket.

If you want to have great relationships, act as if your relationships are already where you want them to be. If you’re looking for a partner, then make sure that there is space in your house for that person. Rhonda Byrne in “The Secret” talked about a woman who was desirous of finding her life partner and it never happened so she just assumed that the Law of Attraction didn’t work (or at least didn’t workdirector chair act as if for her). But when asked, she realized there was no space in her house for a partner to move in. Her two car garage was filled with “stuff” on one side and her dressers had clothes in every drawer. The closets were all full. So where was the partner supposed to “live”. Once she cleaned out space for someone new in her life and continued her visualizations and Law of Attraction practices, a man came into her life quickly. She was “acting as if”.

Act confident if you want a new job – that’s not the same as haughty. Just feel self-assured and knowledgeable. Clean your desk (don’t make it obvious to others that you’re planning on leaving – just be cleaning up). Get organized. Perhaps get a new wardrobe depending on what you’ll need at the new job. Read books that are in line with this new employment.

Get the picture? See what you can do. Focus on having what you want and acting as if you’ve opened the door to receive your package. Do not focus on the lack!

Let us know what you do and how it works.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1

You have to find a way to be all right with thriving because you are always going to want to thrive. The economy is moving forward in response to the desires of people. And depriving yourself of something does not make more money for someone else to spend. If there were not people who were purchasing things, then all of the people who are working at manufacturing and marketing them would have to find some other ways of making their living. There are so many people who innately want to thrive, who as soon as they begin thriving a little, begin imposing all of these exterior judgements about how much thriving is appropriate, “It’s appropriate to thrive that much, but not that much.” And you have to ask yourself, “At what point do I lose the balance of thriving?”

Excerpted from the workshop: Detroit, MI on September 27, 2003

It is quite all right for you to want to be prosperous! Somehow we get indoctrinated in our childhood to think that when there are other folks who don’t have it very good, we shouldn’t be abundant. I think that the folks who taught us that also thought that we shouldn’t flaunt our prosperity if we were “fortunate” enough to have it. But, then if we feel we are hiding our prosperity, then there’s the sensation of guilt. See how it’s a no-win situation.

My advice, in the face of everything that we’ve learned as we grew up is to try to wipe out those beliefs (remember that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking over and over again) and replace them with beliefs that make more sense now.

  • What is your definition of prosperity and abundance? When you hear those words what do you think? Write the answers down.
  • At the top of a second piece of paper write down what you’ve been taught and what you’ve been thinking all your life about prosperity and abundance.
  • Draw two columns on that same page. Label one column “pros”  and the second column “cons”.
  • Fill in the two columns. It doesn’t matter how you phrase things because you’re the only one who’s going to see it. Often we don’t do something simple like this because of what I call “Fear of Critique”. In this case, we might be afraid that someone would think what we wrote was stupid or that things aren’t spelled correctly. Don’t worry about that because only you will ever see it.
  • Now look at the two columns and decide if you want to keep your definitions or create new ones.
  • If you want to create a new one, write it down below the list of pros and cons.

Now read your new definitions several times a day and keep reading them (it) until you begin to actually believe it.

Try that this week for me and let me know how it goes. Comment below.

The Stop Sign Says “Stop” NOT “Roll”

stop-not-roll-1What? What’s this all about? Does Terrie have a traffic sign fetish? No but the traffic metaphors have been very helpful in explaining life’s happenings in metaphysics.

The Stop Sign is a perfect example. Right there in front of us are those four letters – S.T.O.P. “Stop” means a cessation of movement or operation. When the sign says STOP, it means come to an end or cease to happen. Ceasing to happen means not moving any more when we’re talking about a vehicle.

So why do we insist on “rolling” through the stop sign? Do we think the sign says or actually means “roll through me”? No, we fail to appreciate the meaning of the word STOP and we have interpreted this “rule” the way we choose to interpret it.  That’s always dangerous – when we make our own interpretation of the rules. Are you saying that your interpretation is the correct one and that everyone should follow your example? What if you feel it’s ok to roll through the stop sign at 5 miles per hour? What if the next person sees you roll through it but can’t tell your speed? So they think it’s ok to roll through at 15 mph.  Then a few minutes later another car comes along that yesterday rolled through at 10 mph and had no problem and didn’t see any other traffic coming so that person now feels it’s ok to roll through at 25 miles an hour. Do you see how this can blossom into a total mess? Why even have the sign there? It must have been placed for some reason? What was that reason? Was it to facilitate people moving through an intersection? Was it to protect pedestrians trying to cross the road? What was the reason? We don’t know do we?

Why do we have this temptation to make our own rules? Do we think we know more than the officials? Do we think we know more than those who “rolled through” before? Do we definitely think we know more than the person who actually stops at the sign? What’s your answer? Do we think it’s ok “because” you see no one else at the intersection or no pedestrians? Are there different conditions for which you think this rule should apply?

Do you think these questions are stupid? If so, think about them. How many have ever crossed your mind and dictated your actions.

Of course this post is a follow-on to the one earlier this week where I talked about the Universal Laws are not made to be broken even though many people feel that rules are made to be broken.

The Universe doesn’t really care if you break the rules. What it does care about is delivering what you are asking for. So, if you are only following the rules (rolling through the sign) some of the time, then you will not receive what it is you really want. You will receive what you’re putting your attention on.  You can try thinking you’re prosperous a lot of the time but if you spend any significant time and gather momentum from thinking about all the bills you have and how you’ll never get them paid off, then your prosperity will continue to be at bay.  You will not get the prosperity because a large portion of the time you are focusing on the lack of it (rolling through the sign instead of obeying the rules).

Do you obey the traffic signs? Do you text while you drive? Do you go through stop signs or traffic lights if no one’s there and there’s no sign of police? What other examples can you think of. Let us know in the comment box below.

Doing Your Income Taxes Can Actually Make You Prosperous

cutting_taxes_400_clr_8732 It’s that time of year when people are probably frantically scurrying around collecting this receipt and that receipt, hammering the calculator and wiping sweat from their brows……it’s almost April 15th – T day – Tax day in the US.

I know that folks usually dread this activity.  But, let’s look at another way to approach it. Wouldn’t you like to look forward to paying your taxes and preparing them? I know that if I had a choice between dreading and happily anticipating something, I’d pick the happy anticipation every time. I think most of you would too.

But many people have emotional reactions to doing and paying their taxes. Some feel remorse when they see how much money they have spent (despite, perhaps, New Year’s Resolutions to “do better”). Some are angry that they have to pay all that money back to the “government” and don’t know what it’s being used for. How about “It’s unfair that I should have to pay this or pay more than Mr. Jones”, or “I am barely making it so how can I afford to pay more – the government has more money than I do”.  There’s the infamous “Why” – “Why do I have to pay taxes? What does the government do for me?”

So we have anger, remorse, regret, fear (of losing that money), sometimes despair and desperation (it’s like taking the mask off and seeing that what your finances really are – the reality of that can be alarming especially if you have the Ostrich syndrome and only look at your financial situation this one time a year). Disappointment can be in there too if you have to pay out or if you’re not getting as much back as you thought. And I’ve only hit on the top level emotions – remember that what we create in our lives is created based on our vibrations and feelings.  Even if you’ve said “it doesn’t bother me”, if you’ve had discontent or issues with paying your taxes before then those emotions (and vibrations) are most likely still deep inside of you.

What to do? Approach paying your taxes in a completely different way.

Each time you pick up a receipt to log it, pay attention to how you felt when you purchased the item or service. If, for instance, you’re noting that you paid $1000.00 for a group of new outfits for a conference or event. Take a moment and close your eyes. Think back to when you were shopping if that’s an enjoyable activity for you (it’s not for me) – think of the fun you had trying on different clothes and moving around in front of the mirror seeing how great you looked. Enjoy (again) the fun you had deciding which outfits to pick.   Then, think about when you wore the outfits, how great you looked, how they made you feel, how much you connected with others at the event you went to, what great things came out of it. Actually feel those emotions. Smile, feel the pleasure you had. For me, it’s running outfits and gear. Not only do I have fun picking out the gear and imagining what I will be using it for but then when I’m packing to go on a trip for a run, I have fun again imagining what it’s going to be like either wearing or using it. Then, there’s the best part – actually using it. But, often that’s a letdown because I’ve built it up so much… ha ha.

BUT, my point is that you can re-experience all these fine and fun feelings while you’re holding those receipts in your hand.  Be thankful you can call up those feelings and memories at any point and feel happy. This is how you move your vibrations up to a much better feeling place. When you get your vibrations raised like that, the Universe brings you more of what you’re thinking about and in this case it will be great things, not more despair, regret and remorse.

However, you can multiple these feelings even more by adding another thought and feeling into this. Think about how much you are and have been supporting other people who are working hard (maybe even harder than you). You helped them when you purchased those items and you’re helping them now because despite what you think and hear, there is benefit from paying your taxes and these benefits do help PEOPLE, not THINGS. If nothing else, you’re helping pay the salary of the people who work at the IRS or those who are helping you, perhaps, put your taxes together. Even if you use a software program like “Turbotax”, someone created it and does customer service and works on improving it etc. And so you are helping pay their salaries and helping them support their families.

Always look at the PEOPLE on the receiving end. Don’t think of it as “The Government” – that is too impersonal. Think of the various types of people that are involved in reviewing the documents you send in, then processing and distributing the funds to various projects etc. You are HELPING PEOPLE.

But what if you had medical problems and had to pay big money as well as go through the “not so good” feelings of being sick or having a relative be sick. I would imagine there are some good things that came out of that experience. Plus, remember all the PEOPLE that you “helped” pay their salaries (maybe buying diapers and formula or first grade clothes for their kids). Also, think of the intangible things that might have happened. Did people come out of the woodwork supporting you and showing you that you weren’t alone? What good came out of the experience even if it felt like tragedy. There is always good, we just have to look harder sometimes.

Between reliving the happiness you’ve experienced in the past year and realizing you’re helping so many people, you should be able to actually enjoy this process. With a raised vibration, there will be more prosperity coming to you! Watch and see. I once got a check from the IRS over a year later telling me that I had overpaid on my taxes and received $4000 back from them.

Now, get to work and record your feelings and emotions as you go along….or do it at the end of the day. Why? You’re too busy to do that, you say. You can read this back later when your vibrations are a little lower than you want and reading these emotions and experiences will lift your vibrations back up to where they will be emanating joy and happiness to the Universe.

Try it! I think you’ll like it. Let us know by commenting below.

How To Increase Your Unexpected Income

Unexpected income is almost the most fun to receive because it is unexpected and comes as a pleasant surprise. Most people don’t look at everything they receive and consider it to be income. That’s the first thing we want to focus on. Once you begin to recognize what unexpected income is, you must express gratitude for whatever it is, no matter how small it is. Recognition and gratitude when coupled with joy will increase the frequency with which you receive such wonderful surprises.

I’ll give you an example of unexpected income. I had ordered some dog food and went to pick it up today. The receptionist had such a smile on her face as she said “you’ve never had a bill this small”. I was amazed. I didn’t know that I had been credited with a referral fee when I sent a friend to the vet. I did it because I think he’s a great doc. So, even though I had to pay 5 dollars today, there was $50 of unexpected income. This is what we call a Divine Surprise. Most people would not have realized this as unexpected income because they would see that they had to pay something. But when you realize you would have had to pay $50 more without this Divine Surprise, it definitely constitutes unexpected income.

I spent the rest of the morning smiling and thanking the Universe for this wonderful gift. That is the second most important key – letting the Universe know that you recognize what has been given to you and that you’re very grateful for it. Gratitude will also increase the power of your receiving.

Once you’re home or at a place where you have your gratitude journal make sure you record the gift. This cements it into your brain and your subconscious and it even gives your subconscious the impression that you’ve received more than you did. What were the components of my gift today? Surprise leading to happiness and joy. After that came repeated expressions of gratitude – aloud and to myself – all with smiles and happiness. The day was topped off with writing in my gratitude journal that I received this wonderful gift. Each time I just said that I was thankful for the unexpected income. I didn’t say “just $50”. I simply wanted the Universe to know that I knew I had the gift and that I was immensely thankful. This will add much more power to the vibrations emanating from me.

Try this and see what happens. Did someone buy you a drink, a sandwich? Did you get a bagel or donut that someone brought for the whole crew? What about a special coupon in the mail? Perhaps you bought something on sale – that’s unexpected income. Was someone in your neighborhood or a friend throwing out something that they asked you if you wanted? Look around you and see what happened during the day. I had another unexpected income experience today also. I was in a convenience store and the woman put in a penny for me rather than having to give me 99 cents in change. That may not sound like much but it’s more that adds power from my gratitude.

Gratitude is essential to your success. You can download a no-cost Gratitude Journal for your PC at The Gratitude Journal – Install it on your computer and then use it. If you want to find out more about how to craft your success check out The Art of Making Things Happen.
