Tuesdays With Terrie

tuesdays-with-terrie-croppedIt’s been a few weeks but things were not going as well as I’d like (plus I was busy as the dickens with work) so I wanted to work through those things before I posted.

I finally feel like my energy is returning from the surgery. It took much longer than I expected which is probably a function of both the type of surgery and my age (nah!) but at least I’m feeling stronger.

I had started trying to run but was not happy at all and in fact, was downright discouraged because I felt worse than when I first started running in 1994. I had no endurance and everything hurt. And then….something unusual developed in my ankle – I got some sort of bursitis in the heel – very unusual for me.  I couldn’t run OR walk. So that was a big downer too.

As a result, I had to ask myself what the Universe was trying to tell me. Was it that I wasn’t going to be able to run anymore or that I wasn’t going to be able to do the Tennessee event in July (running out of time) or even that I needed to revisit my purpose in life? Many questions, no answers.

So, I just relaxed and let the answers come. One answer was that it was NOT too late to consider Tennessee but that I shouldn’t fall into the trap I did last year and try to do too much in too short a time and then violate all the training laws I had ever learned – thus, leading to my injury and early pull out. That answer was very helpful.

Also, I was feeling discouraged but realized that I had control over my feelings no matter what the external circumstances were. I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and realized that my life was NOT dependent on running and that even though I love it very much, if I can’t run, there are many other things I can (and want to) do. Building my coaching program is a major part of my life especially since I’m so immersed in the course I’m taking right now. Also, finishing my book is very important to me. I showed myself how rich and rewarding my life is whether I’m out there on the road or not. It’s ok to take the time to let my ankle heal (no pun intended). If I don’t make it to Tennessee this year, there is next year.

Bottom line, just relax and let the Universe unfold in front of me, holding the positive things that I want to do with my life in the front of my mind, not concentrating on the negatives, or worse yet, the ‘possibles’.  As Mark Twain said –

“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”

The last thing I want is for those worries TO HAPPEN in my life and being so good at attracting events into my life, I do NOT want to concentrate on any of the worries. I want to focus on all the great stuff that I desire.

One of the activities that is helping with this is my making a desire inventory. I’m listing all the things I desire in life without regard to how or when they might happen. For example, if I wanted a 15 million dollar house (which I don’t but I saw this online last night) I would write it down despite the fact that I have absolutely no idea how I would get it. The point is to put down everything that would make me happy and that I would love in my life.

Try it..it will take awhile especially since you’ll have to get rid of some of these blocks before you can get everything out. But it will be a liberating exercise for you. It will get you out of the confined space where you are right now.

Have a great week!

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“You create your own reality and you do so because the thoughts that you are thinking cause you to emanate a vibrational frequency that the Law of Attraction is constantly responding to. And so, in all waking moments, you are creating your own point of attraction and everything that you experience is coming to you because of your vibrational emanation and the response of Law of Attraction to that vibration. It is as if you are standing on a sort of spinning vibrational disc and only things of the same vibration can join you on your disc. Your disc changes depending upon the thoughts that you are thinking and the emotions that you are feeling.” ~Abraham [Excerpted from the book: Co-creating at Its Best on November 13, 2013]

We’ve talked about this many times but I find that it’s never bad to bring it up again. It’s such an important concept that being reminded every day would be a good thing even.

What this quote tells you is that you MUST watch what you’re thinking about almost each and every moment. If that seems impossible, remember that your goal is to create habits that have you thinking in a way that will attract what you want at all times. Where people get into trouble is when one minute they are up and then the next minute they are down and worried. The roller coaster ride keeps the Universe circling without bringing you anything except more of what you already have – if that’s stuff you don’t want more of, that’s what you’ll get. If it’s good things, then you’ll get more of that. BUT nothing will come very rapidly.

Your desire should be to continuously receive all that you want in abundance. The way to do that is to become steadfast in your thoughts. Whenever you start to think a less than positive producing thought, catch yourself and say “that is not my truth” and immediately switch your thought. I did that yesterday. I was really feeling down about my lack of progress running and then my ankle problem forcing me to take a week off running so I was starting to think that I was doomed to stop running and not do my trek across Tennessee this summer etc etc etc. Fortunately I caught myself early on and reversed that thought to something I could live with. I say ‘that I could live with’ because you don’t want to just try to be Pollyanna because your subconscious mind might not be able to wrap itself around the “goody two shoes” thoughts depending on where you are with it all. The ‘something I could live with’ was the thought about the other directions my life could take and where I could be happy even if I couldn’t run. That got me back into a positive momentum – not positive, perhaps, from a running perspective but positive from a life perspective.  And that’s what’s important. I was able to move from one love into the rest of my life to find something else that I love (coaching and especially this new topic I’m studying) so there were plenty of opportunities for my thoughts to travel – all along a really great line of thinking. So, I did not attract anything bad to me.

Be mindful of your thoughts – if you “slip”, immediately turn them around using some key phrase, word or even “Kodak Moment” to get back on that vibrational disc that will keep the Universe delivering the great things you’re asking for!

You really just have to be aware of what you’re “saying” – either out loud or internally! Continual practice at this will make it your natural state and that’s what we want –  to develop that habit!

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“The brain is the focusing mechanism that you are utilizing here. But there is consciousness that is outside of what you call the human focus of the brain. That’s this vibrational thing we continually talk about. We talk about vibration. We talk about Energy. We talk about thought. And eventually, once enough momentum has occurred, you will feel emotion. We want to acknowledge that the emotions that you feel are manifestations. And there is a significant amount of momentum that has occurred before your emotions show you how well aligned, or not, you are with that Broader Perspective.” —Abraham (Excerpted from the book: Co-creating at Its Best on November 13, 2013)

The key to today’s Abraham excerpt is your emotions are the most powerful possession you have. You can create anything with your emotions. Think back to the various powerful emotions you’ve had – was it anger, rage, love, disgust, what? I remember when I had been so frustrated by the fact that at the very last minute the house I was due to move into in 3 days fell through and I had to find a house in record time. My mother, my realtor and I were driving around northern Virginia all weekend. While my mother and the realtor were chatting away in the front seat, I was pouting and becoming more and more frustrated in the back seat. Finally I just shouted out “I’m NOT moving twice” (which I would have had to do if we didn’t find a house that I could move into on short notice).  Within 20 minutes (all of which was driving) we found the perfect house! It was a model so all the utilities were hooked up and everything was ready to go and no one had to move. I could inhabit the house the NEXT DAY! That was the power of my emotions. I was letting the Universe know that I had made up my mind and it better listen. The vibration I sent out was phenomenal and powerful. The Universe listened and delivered my desire.

I think this is one way that violence and how it perpetuates so quickly. Think of the power behind the rage one or more people exhibit. This emanates out to the Universe and attracts others with the same degree of vibration. It becomes a chain reaction. More and more folks are drawn into the grouping of hating people. And you know what? The rage and hatred does NOT have to be about the same thing. It’s the emotion, not the target. So, if you’re a person with a lot of hate or anger and you’re within reach of this energy field, you’ll be drawn into it in order to express your own rage, no matter how you really feel about the original person’s “cause”. This is why it’s so dangerous and spreads so vehemently.

Examine your emotions and use the positive ones to bring you the goodness you desire.  Harness your own power and let the windmill (the Universe) bring you what you want. Along those same lines, though, be careful about the things you are putting your emotions into. If you’re struggling with something whether it be debt or relationship or health issues, do NOT put the emotional energy into them – not even into “not wanting” this. What you focus on is what you’ll get more of. Focus on something good that’s coming out of the experience, something you’re learning perhaps. Use each experience to help you concentrate on the good and charge your emotional vibration.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“It can be very helpful to understand that you do have a point of attraction and that you can control it. And your best opportunity to control it is when you first awaken each morning. It doesn’t take long to transform your point of attraction; 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 days of waking up in nonresistance and then deliberately focusing to maintain your state of lesser and lesser resistance will make a big difference in how you feel and the things that come into your experience. You will begin to receive insight and positive manifestations such as good-feeling emotions and good ideas will begin to flow to you.”  ~Abraham – Excerpted from the book: Co-creating at Its Best on November 13, 2013

It’s important to realize that all you really have to do is continually focus on the good that you are asking for. This does not mean to focus on what you don’t want to happen such as “I have no debt”. Instead you focus on “everything is paid off and I have so much extra money that I am lavishing in abundance” (or something similar that works for you.

Remember every morning (even before you get out of bed) to take some time to focus on what it is you want. Visualize it, think about it, laugh about it, love on it. Cradle it in your arms visually. Think about how wonderful your life will be when your gift comes to your door!

The early morning is when you have the least resistance. You’ve slept and relaxed and released much of the tension of the previous day. Your body and mind have had a chance to rejuvenate. Pick something you really want and do a trial of 20-30 mornings of focusing for at least a minute (preferably more) on it and the joy it will bring you.  Write down what happens in your life. Then add different times during the day when you can relax or meditate or just deep breathe and then focus another minute on what your life will be like when you have this in your life.

Keep us all posted if your life changes in some way with this simple 1-2 minute a day practice.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“If we had a child, or anyone, and we caught them doing something inappropriate, we would not amplify it with our words. We would identify what it is we do not want, and then out of it would come the rocket of desire of what we do want, and then we would just visualize, visualize, visualize, until we find peace within our vision. When you make someone and their action the heart of a vision that you’ve spent time on — your relationship improves, your experience is better, and they receive the benefit of the experience. But if you catch them, and see them, and worry about it, and put mechanisms in place to prevent it, now you have not only amplified it, you have now made a commitment that is hooking you both into that, until usually it gets big enough that you break apart, and then you attract others to fulfill that role.”
—Abraham – Excerpted from the workshop: Chicago, IL on April 25, 1999

Bottom line what this says is that you should put your attention where you want it to go, not necessarily where it is at the present moment. If you’re upset or mad, take some deep breaths and then visualize what it is you’d like (or where you’d like to be). Do NOT spend time being upset and angry even if it’s justified. Because what does that do? It simply brings more of the bad situation (more for you to be mad about) into your life. And that is definitely not what you want to happen.

Focus on what you want; on how you want things to turn out. Even if they don’t turn out exactly that way, I guarantee you that they will turn out better than if you just focus on the  way things are right now if they aren’t going the way you want. You do not need the additional stress you create by focusing on the negative momentum.  Remove as much stress from your life as you possibly can. You’re going to have some stress that you’re unable to do anything about but there are stresses that you can control.

Try to get off whatever the bad things are and move to your desires and get the momentum going in that direction.
