When you talk about what you want and why you want it, there’s usually less resistance within you than when you talk about what you want and how you’re going to get it. When you pose questions you don’t have answers for, like how, where, when, who, it sets up a contradictory vibration that slows everything down.
—Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop: San Antonio, TX on January 29, 2005

Read this quote over and over again. The importance of it cannot be overstated. It follows on yesterday’s post about Good Vibrations too.

You have the answers to:

  • What you want (clarity comes even from those things you don’t want)
  • Why you want it/them

You don’t necessarily have the answers to:

  • How you’re going to get it
  • When you’re going to get it
  • Whose going to be involved
  • etc

What this quote is saying is that it’s easier to focus on the “why” you want something and since there is usually an emotional investment (and a positive one) the vibrations are high and positive and it’s much more likely that you’re going to be able to allow it into your life. If you’re trying to focus on the “how” with all the attendant logistical concerns. Your intellectual brain starts getting involved with the who, what, when, where, why and how. When that happens you are trained to think of the “pros and cons” and that means you have to think in terms of lack.

If you focus only on the what and why you can be emotional and get your positive vibrations really buzzing on a high plane without any negatives or lack to get in the way.

Try it this week. Focus only on the what and why. If you find your brain drifting toward the “how”, immediately go back to the why!

You have to find a way to be all right with thriving because you are always going to want to thrive. The economy is moving forward in response to the desires of people. And depriving yourself of something does not make more money for someone else to spend. If there were not people who were purchasing things, then all of the people who are working at manufacturing and marketing them would have to find some other ways of making their living. There are so many people who innately want to thrive, who as soon as they begin thriving a little, begin imposing all of these exterior judgements about how much thriving is appropriate, “It’s appropriate to thrive that much, but not that much.” And you have to ask yourself, “At what point do I lose the balance of thriving?”

It is quite all right for you to want to be prosperous! Somehow we get indoctrinated in our childhood to think that when there are other folks who don’t have it very good, we shouldn’t be abundant. I think that the folks who taught us that also thought that we shouldn’t flaunt our prosperity if we were “fortunate” enough to have it. But, then if we feel we are hiding our prosperity, then there’s the sensation of guilt. See how it’s a no-win situation.

My advice, in the face of everything that we’ve learned as we grew up is to try to wipe out those beliefs (remember that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking over and over again) and replace them with beliefs that make more sense now.

  • What is your definition of prosperity and abundance? When you hear those words what do you think? Write the answers down.
  • At the top of a second piece of paper write down what you’ve been taught and what you’ve been thinking all your life about prosperity and abundance.
  • Draw two columns on that same page. Label one column “pros”  and the second column “cons”.
  • Fill in the two columns. It doesn’t matter how you phrase things because you’re the only one who’s going to see it. Often we don’t do something simple like this because of what I call “Fear of Critique”. In this case, we might be afraid that someone would think what we wrote was stupid or that things aren’t spelled correctly. Don’t worry about that because only you will ever see it.
  • Now look at the two columns and decide if you want to keep your definitions or create new ones.
  • If you want to create a new one, write it down below the list of pros and cons.

Now read your new definitions several times a day and keep reading them (it) until you begin to actually believe it.

Try that this week for me and let me know how it goes. Comment below.

Everything that has ever been lived, everything that has ever been written down or documented, has been vibration first. Everything has been conjured in vibration first before it manifests. So if something has manifested and you continue to give it your attention, the fact that it is true should really hold no weight with you. The question that we would ask is not, is it true, or is it undeniable? The question that we would ask is, how does it make me feel when I focus upon it? And if the answer to the question is, it doesn’t make me feel very good when I focus upon it, then we would say, true or not, it does not serve you. And if you will activate a different part of your vibration—the “truth” will shift.
—Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop: El Paso, TX on March 28, 2002

What’s the key here in Abraham’s wisdom? The fact that if you don’t like a circumstance that has manifested (materialized) in your life, then you should stop focusing on it and activate a different part of your vibration and things will change. This is what I refer to as calling up your Kodak Moment(s).

  • I recommend you make a running list of Kodak Moments – even keep them on index cards that you can keep with you if necessary.
  • Once you note that something isn’t to your liking, pull out your list and find one that really strikes a “feel good” chord right now (it might be a different moment each time or it might be the same one).
  • Focus on that moment for the longest time. Do NOT let your mind wander back to the thing you don’t like or want in your life.
  • You do NOT have to focus on getting rid of that materialization. If you focus on it, you’ll just make it stronger or bring more of it into your life. The idea is to replace it with things that make your vibration high and happy.
  • Use the phrases I love and use so many times a day:
    • “Everything always works out for me” (I have that on my phone and it pops up 3 times a day to remind me)
    • “Nothing and no one can interfere with my prosperity, peace of mind and well being, NOT even myself”
  • Think and do anything to keep your mind focused on experiencing the vibrations you want to feel. When you feel good, that will change your surroundings.

Enjoy your week!

Stop Looking Outside Yourself – The YOUniverse Holds The Answers

youniverse

The Universe does not know whether the vibration that you’re offering is because of something you’re observing or something you’re remembering or something that you are imagining. It just receives the vibration and answers it with things that match it.

—Abraham

Most people think that to in order to have happiness, you have to be wealthy. But that’s not true.  Upon realizing they need to create their own happiness, many people just run out and start blowing lots of money because they think that’s how you get happy. But, unless they grasp this critical information their troubles are only just beginning.

If you rely on external circumstances or people for your happiness, then you have no control at all. Is this what you want? I don’t think so. After all, we all know that we cannot change other people. The best and fastest way to “change others” is to change yourself. In order to do that you have to go inside yourself and find the answers. The answers are there for sure. You can control what goes on in your mind and what you absorb and believe. As we talked about last week, you can change your environment and what you are exposed to and in so doing, you can also change how you think about things. You can question those beliefs that you were taught (remember that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking over and over). In questioning them you can determine if you wish to continue to believe them. You are old enough and smart enough to research the thoughts and beliefs and determine if they are just something you were taught by well-meaning (usually well-meaning) people and not necessarily what you still choose to believe.

The point is that you can change how you view a situation. You can continue to be upset by an event or look_closely_custom_text_13117you can choose to make the most of it. I have a close friend who has a serious condition and yet has chosen to deal with each and every curveball thrown in her direction. She is a model for others in how she approaches her problem. She simply marches on. Others might wallow in “oh no, now what” or “how could this happen to me” or think about how others are going to help them. None of that is productive. Facing the music and deciding what you are going to do with it is what matters – how are you going to think about the situation, the recommendations, the results? What are you going to do with your life in the face of what you’re up against. Are you going to roll over and give in or are you going to stand up to whatever it is and make the most of it and make yourself as happy as you can while enduring it? That would make the most sense wouldn’t it? Why make yourself more miserable?

You control EVERYTHING – remember the Law of Attraction ALWAYS works, not just to bring you good things. It’s working 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Make the most of it and show the world that you are in control. Again, I recommend you think of hiring a coach to help you recognize what you can change and how.

It will amaze you how much faster you can get things done just by understanding that you have to stop looking outside yourself for answers and changes. Do it yourself. You know you can. The Universe is there to help you with this! Contact me about coaching if you want to learn more about coaching.

You cannot have a happy ending to an unhappy journey.

—Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop: Atlanta, GA on September 13, 1997

What a wonderfully simple statement this is.  If you don’t do something about your unhappiness, you will remain unhappy. Why is that? Because of the Law of Attraction. You attract what you focus on, what you spend your time thinking about. If that’s things or circumstances that make you unhappy, then that’s what you’ll get more of.  Why would you want to get more unhappiness? You wouldn’t intentionally do that I don’t think. But when your life’s thought patterns and beliefs have led you to focus on lack, illness, unhappiness, poor relationships, then that’s what the Law of Attraction will bring you more of. The Law of Attraction doesn’t even know what’s good or bad to you. It just brings you what you are focusing on.

So what do you do to change this? That’s not so easy by yourself and that’s why I continue to recommend getting a coach (a Life Coach, a Law of Attraction Coach, any type of coach). Your coach will help you identify what it is you are focusing on – often you’re not even aware of these things. But a coach will help you recognize what you’re saying, thinking and feeling. Once you can recognize the habits you are perpetuating, you have a much better chance of stopping them and redirecting your thoughts to more positive thoughts and feelings.

Retrieve one of the Kodak Moments I talk about all the time. Focus on that as soon as you notice you’re headed down an old pathway that will take you directly (or even indirectly) to your unhappiness. If you then focus on the Kodak Moment, then you’ll be able to direct your thoughts and feelings in the happiness direction.

Write down your Kodak Moments in a journal or on an index card where you can have them handy in case things are so rough you can’t just recall them from memory. Once you start to feel icky, pull out your card and then select one to use at this particular time to feel better. Keep focusing on that and repeat the phrase “Nothing and no one can interfere with my peace of mind, prosperity and well being, not even myself”.

Try it this week!
