Influential Laws/Beliefs That Govern Your Life – Part 1

rule 1The Law of Consciousness

This is the first law – The Law of Consciousness.

Law of Consciousness

You are everything that you have ever read, heard on the radio or television, in school, read in encyclopedias or heard from your parents or siblings.

Siblings tell you things to scare you.

Ministers tell you things about your life and you may no longer believe in those things.

Much of what you’ve been told is made of old wives tales too or research has changed the validity of those beliefs. You can have beliefs in you that are completely invalid right now.

Maybe you were told you had to work hard to get anywhere. That might have set you up for failure or for hard work or maybe even both because you believe you can’t get anywhere unless you’re working 14 or 16 hours a day (or more).

What about concepts like:

  • “You have to have an education to get anywhere”
  • “Girls can’t do that”
  • “You’re just like your ____ (fill in the blank)”
  •  You’re told what our health is going to be like. “This or that runs in our family”.

Your subconscious is like a garbage dump. It holds everything – the good and not so good. It holds the bad, the angry, the hostile, all of your opinions and the opinions that were given to you.

Once you start giving up just a few of these beliefs, you’ll be amazed at the changes you’ll see happening in your life.

You are like an onion, though, and have to work down to the deepest beliefs by peeling the onion. You have to examine each belief that pops up and decide whether to keep it or discard it.

If you have chaos in your life, then you have thoughts that are out of harmony with something you want to do. Chaos here means things you don’t want are in your life. You’ve let fear take over. You’ve let anger take over or you’ve condemned or criticized. By the way, the word “problem” is quite acceptable and is not negative because there always is a solution!

Don’t dwell on your mistakes or what you could have or should have done. That just activates the Law of Attraction to bring you more chaos and you don’t get out of that downward spiral.

You have to be careful about what you’re looking at and what you’re asking for. For example there are people who say they want to lose weight no matter what it takes. Our culture has the vision of people who are critically or terminally ill looking scrawny and emaciated. If you don’t qualify what you’re asking for (do not put “whatever it takes”), you might actually get the result you’re asking for but with dire consequences – you’ll lose the weight but be very, very sick.

I’ve done this and caught myself when I’ve said I’d really like to retire. I have to be careful to qualify this and say something like “regular” retirement so that it eliminates the possibility of requiring a medical retirement. If I just ask the Universe to help me retire, then it will take the easiest way out – and that might actually be the medical route. I surely do NOT want that.

So, you have all these beliefs in our “garbage dump” (the subconscious) and your job is to weed out what is valid and what you want to continue to believe and what is invalid and what you no longer choose to believe. Once you identify a belief, ask yourself:

  • who was my authority on this? If it was your parents, how did they turn out? Do you want to be like them? You have to separate what they taught you that you want to believe from that which they taught you that you don’t want to believe.
  • if it’s limiting in any way, you don’t want to keep that belief (like women have to work harder than men to be successful).

You have to be able to realize that our parents were just normal people, not deities whose every word was the Gospel.

Now take some time and think about what you were taught. Then ask yourself if this is something you continue to believe or want to continue believing. Ask yourself who your authority was/is on this issue. Then write down the belief you choose to adopt. Try that on for size and see how it feels.

The next law is the next step in eliminating your limiting beliefs and replacing them. So stay tuned!

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“As you practice your more positive, better-feeling story, in time your pleasure will become the dominant vibration within you, and then as you couple your pleasure with your means of earning, the two will blend perfectly and enhance each other.

There is no better way to earn money than to do the things that you love to do. Money can flow into your experience through endless avenues. It is not the choice of the craft that limits the money that flows—but only your attitude toward money.

—Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop: Money and the Law of Attraction on August 31, 2008”

This fits right in with what I recommended you do in the beginning of December and hopefully you’ve already been working on it. That is, writing your story for 2015 and designing your new life. Once you’ve written the year’s story the way you want it to unfold, you will continue to go back over it time and time again, enjoying the results as you feel them while visualizing the results of the story. Your momentum will increase each time you go through the story. That is why you want to fabricate the story to the point of bringing you immense joy. Since nothing has occurred yet, you can create anything your heart desires.

As you focus on the wonderful things for the coming year, your vibrations will reach out to the Universe and bring what you are asking for into your life. As Abraham says “there is no better way to earn money [insert anything you want instead of money if you want] than to do the things that you love to do.” When you are focusing on what you love to do, there is no resistance, no negativity to get in the way and prevent that which you desire from coming into your life.

Now get to work on your 2015 story if you haven’t finished it yet! Make it an Academy Award winner too!

Make Your Day Great!

make your day greatYou can make your day great, no matter what happens. Start the process early in the day – when you first wake up. Begin with segment intending – go through each part of your day and actually walk through it exactly as you want it to be.  Be specific. Visualize yourself getting up, working out (if that’s in your plan), eating breakfast, driving safely and quickly to work, go through each segment of your day at work smoothly and efficiently, your drive home, whatever activities you will go through at night. This should take only a couple of minutes and will tell the Universe exactly what you want out of the day.

Once you get up, continue to segment intend to reinforce what you first created that morning. But also find specific areas to focus on to keep you going in the right direction.

Remember the good things you have in your life and the good aspects you envisioned for the day. Build up your momentum as you begin each segment. Go into the bathroom and pull out a Kodak moment and focus on that to bring your momentum up to a high level to go into your next segment. Cancel out any negative thought or idea that comes into your head  use the “That is Not My Truth” and “Everything always turns out great for me”.

Even if things start to turn south, bring them back by focusing on your momentum and visualizing your story for the  year. Bring up a successful moment and concentrate on that for a few minutes. Generate the feelings that that accomplishment will infuse into you. Take the time to be quiet for a few seconds and do this. This will turn your day around. When you’ve finished concentrating on that success, do a short segment intending for the upcoming section of our day. Then go out and conquer that moment.

Make every day great. You really CAN do it!

Phrases To Avoid

phrases to avoidIt’s so important that we remember that whatever we say out loud and whatever we think immediately goes into our subconscious mind and can become part of our reality. Pay attention to this at this time of year when everyone is so busy and in such a hurry. Our stress levels elevate dramatically as do our tempers (translate that into having to slam on the brakes when someone pulls out in front of us to make a last minute turn into a shopping mall or when someone is texting while driving and weaving all over the place).

I know because I’ve been there. It’s so easy for our momentum to start to plummet once we start down that road. You can cancel the thought with “That is not my truth” but it’s better to spot the phrases you don’t want to say/think well ahead of time. These phrases are part and parcel of our everyday life but if you think about them and your reaction when you hear them, hopefully it will help you eliminate them from your own vocabulary.

There are many such phrases but here are a couple that are really dangerous:

  • “I’m fed up
  • “I’m sick and tired”
  • “You’re killing me” or It’s killing me”
  • “I hate”
  • “I can’t afford”
  • “I’m dying to get my  hands on”

And there are many more. Take one day and listen to what comes out of your mouth and the mouths of others too.

Can you see how detrimental these phrases would be to your subconscious?  What messages are you telling yourself? You don’t want to be telling yourself these things because they WILL come true.

Pay attention and cancel the phrases when you hear them.

Let me know of any others you come up with. Put it in the comments box.

Momentum Monday

momentum-monday1“Most who are looking for mates that they haven’t quite found yet are so interested in getting to where they’re going that they’re missing the fun of going there.

—Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop: San Francisco, CA on March 02, 1997”

Although this quote is referencing looking for a relationship/partner, the concept behind it applies to every aspect of life.

I experienced this and missed so much of my childhood and young adulthood because I was driven with a singular goal in mind – to be a doctor. Everything I did was aimed toward that one goal. I never paid attention to anything that was going on around me whether that be people or events or nature or anything. I simply wanted to become a doctor.

The day I graduated from medical school, the one thought that went through my head was “What now?”. There was only a few fleeting moments of joy at having achieved my goal but then I realized that life had to go on and I had no idea what life really was all about. This is so applicable to making sure that your goals do not overtake you and keep you from enjoying the journey to the finish line. It’s also about making sure you have created another goal for when you’ve accomplished this one.

It’s so essential that we enjoy every day and do something meaningful every day. Learn and do something new, go somewhere new or special. Most of all, though, I feel that living every day to the fullest is about giving something to someone every single day. That may be just a smile or a compliment or it may be a dollar to someone on the corner. I don’t know but I do know that at this time of year, there are a great many people in need. The obvious ones are those in need of financial support especially if they have children. But the ones that I think are more important and unfortunately not obvious are those that are sad and depressed and have significant problems with the holidays. There are so many suicides during this time and if you’ve ever been depressed or just down, you know the pain of watching others be so joyful and having others to love and be loved by when you feel you have nothing.

Reach out to at least one person a day. Even if it’s just to ask “Hey, how are you doing? You are such a valuable person that I wanted you to know how much you mean to me.” Something like that. Write an email to an old friend to see how they are doing. Join a forum and see what you can do to help others. I want to start that type of forum here so that others have a place to go where there are like minded people and the price of membership would be to do something good for someone (either in the forum/membership) or not.

What can you do today? Who can you touch today? Make a decision that you will NOT continue to miss another day along the wonderful path you are on. Stop and really smell the roses – the roses are euphemisms for whatever glory you might see along the way.

Be in the present but most of all do something for another person today!
