A dream is a manifestation. Just like what you live is a manifestation, but a dream is quicker and easier to achieve, and not so troublesome if there’s something you don’t want.

—Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop: Orlando, FL on February 15, 1997

You manifest what you want (and sometimes don’t want) when you dream. Things just appear or happen! Your life could be like that but we allow our limiting beliefs, our doubts, other people, etc to get in the way and prevent the true materialization of what we’ve already manifested.

Visualization is close to dreaming especially once you get very good at it. Then you’re able to remove your obstacles and produce what you want — even if it’s just in your imagination. The more you visualize, the more you begin to penetrate into your subconscious and get past those limitations.

Enjoy your life. Don’t dwell on the things that make it tough or complicated. See if you can break it down into parts that are easier to handle. Recently I’ve been having a “less than enjoyable” time at work. So this week I decided to try to eliminate the emotions that are a very big part of me (I get passionate about things and people think I’m mad or something but I’m not, I’m just talking about something I care about) and not even respond to any thoughts that have an emotional content. Whenever something came to mind that involved emotion and not just getting the job done, I put it aside and went back to the logistical/practical aspects of work. It’s been working well for the past few days. We’ll see in a week or so what difference it ultimately makes. I have found that it makes me more productive. That is essential.

Use your emotions when you’re experiencing the good things or things that you want more of in your life. Save them for then. Remember that your emotions affect your vibration and it’s most likely that you’re sending multiple mixed messages to the Universe. One minute you’re happy and want this and the next you’re not happy and “don’t want” that. Focus on the things you want. It’s not easy when times are hard but try to do it (remember the Kodak Moments you’ve created and draw upon them) and see if it makes any difference in how you feel. It should ultimately also bring more of the even keeled moments and less of the undesirable ones.

Let me know how things go.

Don’t Put On The Brakes (Don’t Give Up) – It’s Just Around the Corner

figure_prohibit_stop_400_clr_2495Sometimes we get on a roll and can easily keep that momentum going while things seem to be going well.

But then, we may hit a stumbling block (or more than one) and everything comes to a screeching halt. We may gradually slow down but often it’s like “hitting the wall” in a marathon. You just can’t go any further. You lose your incentive and desire to achieve what you set out to do. You feel that there’s no hope and that nothing will work. Much of this is because you’ve been going, going, going and may even be running on fumes now. You’ve been operating on adrenaline and motivation but when you hit a stumbling block, you’re very likely to hit the brakes and stop cold.

If this happens, pause and take a deep breath but don’t stop completely. It’s most likely time to reassess your vibrations. For some reason you have attracted this block. Remember that you attract everything in your life, not just the good things or the things you consciously ask for.

This happened to me in my Tennessee run. I have been working toward this for a year now. I had signed up for it about 10 months ago and everything I did since then was a part of training for it. I’d been derailed once before (in March of this year) when I had this unknown custom_text_pulling_a_wheelie_13463illness and was out of commission running wise for about 9 weeks. Then I was able to do a 3 day event and did “ok” there but knew that I was not ready. So, I spent the 5 weeks before the event trying to put together all that I should have been doing all year. I tried many different types of shoes (which messes up your gait) and I was training with a 15 pound pack which also has adverse effects on you. I increased my mileage way too fast. So what should I have expected? To do really well? Heck no. I ended up being injured (to the point where I couldn’t even walk) the week before I was supposed to leave for the event. Then when I got there and at the start of the race I tried to run and knew I couldn’t because my back was still bad. So it was all walking from the start to the point where I dropped. But when I wanted to drop (the 3rd night), I didn’t. I knew enough to sit back and regroup even though my pain was very severe that night. In the morning I felt ok enough to continue to try. Turns out I was way behind and realized that night that I couldn’t make the cutoff times. I also realized that it would be better for my long term health if I dropped then. So, yes, I did ultimately quit but I didn’t quit when my emotions were ruling me (the previous night). I evaluated the situation and continued on. Then I made an informed decision based on the facts (that I couldn’t possibly reach the cutoff point in time).

But why did all this happen? I have no idea what vibrations and thoughts I put out there to attract these events. But I do know that I did this to myself, no one else did. But instead of complaining about it and feeling cheated, I have spent the past 5 weeks working on all that I learned from this experience. I also have not run for those 5 weeks (until yesterday) and that is a different aspect of my life. Something I had to do in order to heal and as a result I learned that there is more in life than just running and I learned to do other things and be satisfied with doing them. So much has happened in the past few months that I have learned and decided that I do NOT want to waste a day (or a week or more) just waiting to be able to do something else (running in my case).

I have learned so much about what I did “wrong” or what I should have done differently during the run. And it will be so much help for next year. I also forged a valuable friendship that will never be marred and had I been able to run and continue on, I would not have had that opportunity. That relationship is so much more valuable to me than completing the entire 314 miles. I will be able to do it again.

So, don’t quit. Usually what you want really is just around the corner. Try to rest and take advantage of hitting the obstacle and see what opportunity it will afford you. Take some time to raise your vibration and get things back on track again.

Then start back up and you’ll see where you go from there. Your desire will materialize (it’s already manifested when you put out that desire, now it just has to manifest and that’s by you allowing it to come in).

Momentum Monday

Whatever you’re thinking about is literally like planning a future event. When you’re worrying, you are planning. When you’re appreciating you are planning… What are you planning?
Abraham

“What are you planning” asks Abraham.  And Abraham means “what are you thinking about?” Are you contemplating success and prosperity and health? Or, are you thinking about debt, illness and failure? What are the predominant thoughts going through your head?

Take this week to pay strict attention to what is going in and out of your mind. Even if they are fleeting thoughts, record them. Make a list of general thought patterns such as “prosperity”, “success”, “happiness”, “love”, “peace of mind”, “worthiness”, “health (NOT healing but “health”) and what other topics you normally think about. Then make two columns and give the columns opposite names. As an alternative you could list the opposites further on down the list but then you’re more inclined to think about them. Try something like “yes” for one column and “opposite” for the name of the other column. I’m sure you can come up with something that will meet your needs.

Throughout the day put a tick mark on the paper as you have a thought in each of the categories – put the tick mark in the column that corresponds to the type of thought you had. You may have to make a lot of ticks to keep up with all the thoughts you have during the day but try to record as many as you can. Be honest about it. Don’t just “remember” to do it when you’re having a good thought. Record them all if you can. The goal of this practice is to see what patterns you have.

At the end of each day, count up the tick marks and see what has happened during your day. Were you mostly positive or did you stray over to the less than positive side more? No one is going to see this but you so be honest and make a proper assessment at the end of the day. Then decide what direction you want the next day to go in. Once you’ve tried this, you’ll be more conscious of your thoughts and will most likely find yourself catching your thoughts in the middle of the day and even changing them. It’s ok if you have to put a tick mark down in order for you to make the change because the whole point is to ultimately have the majority of the marks in the direction/column you want.

Remember what we started off with – you are planning events when you think things so make sure these are events you want to attend and even ones you want to invite other people to!

Try this simple exercise and let me know if it helps you be aware of your thoughts. Then move on to how you feel when you have these thoughts. That would be the next step. Do you have anxiety, do you smile, do you enjoy what you’re doing more, etc. Record your feelings after you’ve gotten the hang of this!

Get an Emotional Hostage Negotiator – A Coach!

coachingSo often we find ourselves just spinning our wheels. We get into a rut and can’t seem to get out of it. What’s happening in these situations? Why do we seem to spiral downward?

We’ve become an emotional hostage – our emotions are keeping us stuck. For those of you who are old enough to remember, it’s like a record player and the needle getting stuck in the same groove and playing the same section over and over again. The needle moves a tiny bit but then skips right back to the place it started. For those of you who are not that old, maybe you remember the movie “Groundhog Day”. Being an emotional hostage is similar to that. Repeating the same events, the same feelings and thus the same vibrations over and over again without any hope of change.

We don’t want to be stuck and when we get out of that groove we surely don’t want to repeat it but it’s as if we started playing the record again from the beginning – it skips again. If you put yourself in the same or similar circumstances with the same emotional tools as you’ve had all along, all your brain knows is to repeat history. And it’s very good at repeating history – that’s called “habit”. Before you know it, you’ve reacted the same way as you did before , whether it was last week, last month or yesterday. It takes the path of least resistance (and least effort). Unfortunately, that most often leads us right back to that rut again.

So how do you break out of this hostage situation. Think about it. If you don’t make any changes, you are a hostage to your emotions. They have reacted before you’re even aware of it. You don’t want that but you’re not sure how to prevent it since it just “seems to happen”.

You can try Abraham’s processes on your own and be pretty successful but you’ll be more successful if you get yourself a “coach” (a Life Coach, Law of Attraction Coach, Personal Coach – whatever type of coach meets your needs). Often times, it’s just the accountability factor that makes this work but when you really are an emotional hostage, your coach will help you spot these areas and your responses and guide you to creating different methods of response – preceded by thinking about where you really want to be. A primary advantage of using a coach is the speed with which you can make the changes. You don’t have to flounder around on your own, trying this and trying that.

Consider talking to me about Law of Attraction coaching. If you’re interested, you can either comment in the comment box or contact me using the contact form. I am a certified Law of Attraction Coach and have been practicing/teaching the Universal Laws of Metphysics for over 25 years.

Life is Like An Ultramarathon

stick_figure_running_icon_400_clr_3621Boy is this a great post for me right now. As you may remember, I’m training for a massive ultramarathon – 314 miles across the state of Tennessee. Last week for the first time I finally began to question whether or not I could actually do this event.  I still do not know the answer to that question.

People think life is a sprint and if something doesn’t work right away, they think it’s never going to work. This is one of the most common reasons people refute the Law of Attraction and say it doesn’t work. They feel that it should work right away as soon as they say an affirmation, think some positive thoughts or so something else. Without understanding the nature of the Law and how it works, they think that if they don’t get what they think they want right away, the Law either doesn’t work or doesn’t work for them. But they don’t realize that they really haven’t changed their feelings or emotions sufficiently to get the Universe moving their desire toward them. Remember that the steps are #1) Ask – you do that constantly through contrast – you find out what you want by identifying what you don’t want, #2) The Universe delivers – once you’ve asked, the Universe provides it for you. You have manifested your desire. But remember that manifestation and materialization are different things and materialization depends on Step #3) Allowing. This is where we have the most trouble. We have to consistently be in a space where our vibrations (emotions) will allow the gift that the Universe has created for us to come into our lives.

Step 3 is where the life is like an ultramarathon comes in. You can’t expect to go directly from  a life of thinking about poverty or lack immediately into a life of amazing prosperity and abundance. Our vibrations, emotions and beliefs don’t change that quickly. When you do a sprint you are simply focused on a fast time and perhaps winning, not on any changes. When you participate in an ultramarathon, there is more concentration on completing the distance even if there’s not a large amount of speed involved. You learn more about yourself because you have time to think about your life and you have time to make changes in your strategy. Maybe you have to go slower or even take a break. You might have to stop and eat something or get more fluids. Anything can change in an ultramarathon. It’s the distance that counts and that involves understanding yourself and your environment and being prepared to handle anything that comes along. It’s a problem solving adventure. You bring what you have learned in life and in training into the event but you also know that anything can happen and to be successful, you have to be able to roll with the punches.

Be patient. Remember the Law of Gestation. You don’t plant corn and then every day yell at the ground and kick it up because it hasn’t produced an ear yet. You know it’s going to take a certain amount of time and you are patient. Same with a baby – you don’t expect to find out you’re pregnant today and then be upset that the baby hasn’t been delivered tomorrow. If you can understand that the Law of Attraction also works with the Law of Gestation and you have to continue to water and feed your desire without stirring up the dirt around it, it will blossom in its time. The most effective method is to plant your desire, increase your vibration to the point where you really do “know” it will come to you and then let it go!

I told you last week or the week before that what you give out comes back to you. I proved this again to myself this past week. I had given money to someone in much greater need and given it freely and without any expectations or attachments.  Then this past week I finally got around to going to the bank to deposit my old IRS return. I hadn’t even opened it because I “knew” how much it was for. Well, I got  into the car and started to fill out the deposit slip, slit open the envelope and started to laugh. The check was for the exact amount I had given my friend.  The exact amount! Can you believe that? I am always amazed at how the law works. That check had gestated on my desk for a very long time and then it was there to replace what I had given out. How much more evidence do you need?

You just have to take your time. You have to let things happen all the while NOT giving up on your practice of the Law. Do NOT lower your vibration by thinking “nuts, I knew it wouldn’t work”, “It’s not going to work because I don’t deserve anything good to happen”, “Why does it work for everyone else except me”. And worse yet, do not move back into your lack thinking. Because if you do, you will simply attract more lack. That is probably the hardest part. For instance, when you receive another bill, write on it and bless it. Thank it for coming to remind you of the prosperity that is yours and that the Universe is delivering to you. View that bill as a demonstration of you having plenty of money that you are so happy to pay it because you know you are helping others out there that will benefit from the income you are providing them when you pay the bill. Never look at it as “how on earth am I going to pay this?”, “see, I knew I was not going to be prosperous”, “how can I possibly be prosperous when I keep getting bills.” Think of this as you being the employer for all who have contributed service or labor leading to this statement of wealth in your hands. It’s really all about how you look (and feel) at/about your circumstances.

Try to turn all your negative thoughts around.  Start with traffic lights – call them “Go lights” as Zig Ziglar does – he says they are there to make your travel go smoother and safer. Don’t think of them as “Stop lights” – try this for a few days.

Change another word and see what a difference it makes. Instead of “have to” or “I’ve got to” do something, catch yourself and say “I get to do something.” I made a conscious effort every morning when I said goodbye to my dog. In the past I had said “I’ve got to go to work now”. Then I changed it to either “I get to go to work now” or “I am going to work now”. I eliminated any of the sensations/thoughts/feelings associated with the “have to” statement. Because you know what? I really didn’t have to go to work. I could have quit. But I was fortunate to have the job (and still am very fortunate) and so I changed my attitude to express the appreciation I have for the job. It made a great deal of difference in my outlook and I could even feel my vibrations soar when I changed that wording.

Try one or two of these things. Start training now for your ultramarathon. It won’t be over in a few minutes, days or even months. Lay the groundwork (the base training) and practice until it becomes habit for you.

Let me know how it’s going and if you have any questions. Put them in the comment box!
