Everything that has ever been lived, everything that has ever been written down or documented, has been vibration first. Everything has been conjured in vibration first before it manifests. So if something has manifested and you continue to give it your attention, the fact that it is true should really hold no weight with you. The question that we would ask is not, is it true, or is it undeniable? The question that we would ask is, how does it make me feel when I focus upon it? And if the answer to the question is, it doesn’t make me feel very good when I focus upon it, then we would say, true or not, it does not serve you. And if you will activate a different part of your vibration—the “truth” will shift.
—Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop: El Paso, TX on March 28, 2002

What’s the key here in Abraham’s wisdom? The fact that if you don’t like a circumstance that has manifested (materialized) in your life, then you should stop focusing on it and activate a different part of your vibration and things will change. This is what I refer to as calling up your Kodak Moment(s).

  • I recommend you make a running list of Kodak Moments – even keep them on index cards that you can keep with you if necessary.
  • Once you note that something isn’t to your liking, pull out your list and find one that really strikes a “feel good” chord right now (it might be a different moment each time or it might be the same one).
  • Focus on that moment for the longest time. Do NOT let your mind wander back to the thing you don’t like or want in your life.
  • You do NOT have to focus on getting rid of that materialization. If you focus on it, you’ll just make it stronger or bring more of it into your life. The idea is to replace it with things that make your vibration high and happy.
  • Use the phrases I love and use so many times a day:
    • “Everything always works out for me” (I have that on my phone and it pops up 3 times a day to remind me)
    • “Nothing and no one can interfere with my prosperity, peace of mind and well being, NOT even myself”
  • Think and do anything to keep your mind focused on experiencing the vibrations you want to feel. When you feel good, that will change your surroundings.

Enjoy your week!

Change Your Environment, Change Your Vibration

sphere_custom_14887No, this doesn’t mean you have to pack up and move your house and all your belongings! But there are things you can do to alter your environment and remove the toxic effects.

Those things that surround you continue to influence you 24 hours a day. What you are exposed to is absorbed constantly by your subconscious mind. Then your subconscious mind affects your vibrational frequency.  And we all know that it’s your vibrations that determine what you really attract via the Law of Attraction – regardless of what you “say” you want. It’s all about vibration and feeling.

No matter how positive you try to be or how many affirmations you say, if your subconscious mind is constantly bombarded by the opposite – complaints, unhappiness, discontent, disarray, rumors, gossip, etc – your subconscious will rule your being more than your conscious mind.

This is a typical scenario for those who say the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for them. You want happiness and joy but when you examine their your routine, you find out that you hang out around the office water cooler, listen to people complain all day about this and that or talk about what they don’t have that others do (resentment and envy). “Life’s not fair”, “I don’t have any luck”, “I never get anything”, etc etc etc.

Do you watch the news every night? Are you glued to CNN or MSNBC? When was the last time you saw or heard a half hour of positive happenings in the world on the evening or night time news? People want to hear about crime and blood and guts for some reason. The world doesn’t appear to be interested in good things that happen throughout the world even though awesome events occur all the time. So what happens when you’re exposed to all the news about crime and destruction and death and despair? That’s what seeps in to your subconscious mind and when that happens, your subconscious (which is not objective at all and doesn’t know good from bad) “assumes” that that is what you want more of. And guess what? It delivers……it delivers more and more of the bad stuff.

Do you have friends that are down in the dumps ALL the time, complaining about others, talking about poor me or how unfair life has been to them? If so, that is what you will attract more of…more misery and more friends that are living in lack. Do you want to be surrounded by lack and unhappiness? Really? Or is it because your friends like you and you’re happy that you have “friends” that care about you? Ask yourself this, though….do they really care about you? Would they be there for you if something bad happened in your life and they would have to stop wallowing in their problems to help you through yours? Try to answer this honestly. Now I am NOT talking about your friends that have legitimate concerns – serious injuries or illnesses that have had a tremendous impact on their lives. These are truly friends in need and those to whom you must devote as much attention as they need but also privately be seeing them as completely whole (not “healing” but completely whole – you do not want to visualize or see anything to do with healing because that then implies lack – lack of health and therefore illness and that is not what we want). I’m talking about the “friends” who are always having some sort of problem or crisis no matter what the situation. They can’t seem to exist without some sort of drama in their lives and they are trying to bring you into that drama – you do not want to be a part of that because it will lower your vibration and bring you down.

At work are there people who complain about everything, who don’t embrace any idea of change (I am not fond of change so this one is near and dear to my heart)? It’s one thing to not want to change or not be enthusiastic about it but quite another to be actively resisting it by trying to recruit other complainers and even embellishing the “hazards” of such change. Stay away from them and try to evaluate the recommendations on their own merit without the influence of others. And also without the influence of your past experience if you can do that (I’m still learning this one). One thing that will help with this is to use the Book of Positive Aspects for the person(s) who are instituting the change. Find the good things about them, write them down and see what happens.

Remember that the best way to see change in others is to change yourself. Then it doesn’t matter whether they have actually changed or you have – it’s what you experience that matters.

Take these steps to change your environment:

  • Evaluate the areas of your life and what your level of happiness (or prosperity) is in that area – health, peace of mind, happiness, wealth, relationships, etc
  • If you find an area that lacks what you wish, assess your environment and see if there are any influencing factors, both good and not so good:
  • Write them down and determine if you enjoy having them in your life or not
  • Assess what you can do to change the things you don’t like and what you can do to add more of what you do like
  • Start your book of positive aspects and write in it every day
  • Use the rampage of appreciation even when you’re in a situation when you’re not as happy as you’d like to be
  • Practice using Segment Intending to create or pave your entire day and your interactions with people. You could use this to avoid interacting with the folks that aren’t as positive as you’d like…and using Segment Intending this avoidance occurs without you feeling guilty or without it appearing as if you’re intentionally avoiding someone. It just happens. Remember that the Universe will create what you are vibrating/feeling – so if you’re feeling happy and wanting to move along calmly (let’s say) during a meeting, it will bring events and situations that will be calm. If you’re stressed and anxious over something, you will create more havoc because that’s what you’re focusing on.

Try these things to alter your environment and remove whatever it may be that is bringing your vibration down!

Whatever you’re thinking about is literally like planning a future event. When you’re worrying, you are planning. When you’re appreciating you are planning… What are you planning?
Abraham

“What are you planning” asks Abraham.  And Abraham means “what are you thinking about?” Are you contemplating success and prosperity and health? Or, are you thinking about debt, illness and failure? What are the predominant thoughts going through your head?

Take this week to pay strict attention to what is going in and out of your mind. Even if they are fleeting thoughts, record them. Make a list of general thought patterns such as “prosperity”, “success”, “happiness”, “love”, “peace of mind”, “worthiness”, “health (NOT healing but “health”) and what other topics you normally think about. Then make two columns and give the columns opposite names. As an alternative you could list the opposites further on down the list but then you’re more inclined to think about them. Try something like “yes” for one column and “opposite” for the name of the other column. I’m sure you can come up with something that will meet your needs.

Throughout the day put a tick mark on the paper as you have a thought in each of the categories – put the tick mark in the column that corresponds to the type of thought you had. You may have to make a lot of ticks to keep up with all the thoughts you have during the day but try to record as many as you can. Be honest about it. Don’t just “remember” to do it when you’re having a good thought. Record them all if you can. The goal of this practice is to see what patterns you have.

At the end of each day, count up the tick marks and see what has happened during your day. Were you mostly positive or did you stray over to the less than positive side more? No one is going to see this but you so be honest and make a proper assessment at the end of the day. Then decide what direction you want the next day to go in. Once you’ve tried this, you’ll be more conscious of your thoughts and will most likely find yourself catching your thoughts in the middle of the day and even changing them. It’s ok if you have to put a tick mark down in order for you to make the change because the whole point is to ultimately have the majority of the marks in the direction/column you want.

Remember what we started off with – you are planning events when you think things so make sure these are events you want to attend and even ones you want to invite other people to!

Try this simple exercise and let me know if it helps you be aware of your thoughts. Then move on to how you feel when you have these thoughts. That would be the next step. Do you have anxiety, do you smile, do you enjoy what you’re doing more, etc. Record your feelings after you’ve gotten the hang of this!

Life is Like An Ultramarathon

stick_figure_running_icon_400_clr_3621Boy is this a great post for me right now. As you may remember, I’m training for a massive ultramarathon – 314 miles across the state of Tennessee. Last week for the first time I finally began to question whether or not I could actually do this event.  I still do not know the answer to that question.

People think life is a sprint and if something doesn’t work right away, they think it’s never going to work. This is one of the most common reasons people refute the Law of Attraction and say it doesn’t work. They feel that it should work right away as soon as they say an affirmation, think some positive thoughts or so something else. Without understanding the nature of the Law and how it works, they think that if they don’t get what they think they want right away, the Law either doesn’t work or doesn’t work for them. But they don’t realize that they really haven’t changed their feelings or emotions sufficiently to get the Universe moving their desire toward them. Remember that the steps are #1) Ask – you do that constantly through contrast – you find out what you want by identifying what you don’t want, #2) The Universe delivers – once you’ve asked, the Universe provides it for you. You have manifested your desire. But remember that manifestation and materialization are different things and materialization depends on Step #3) Allowing. This is where we have the most trouble. We have to consistently be in a space where our vibrations (emotions) will allow the gift that the Universe has created for us to come into our lives.

Step 3 is where the life is like an ultramarathon comes in. You can’t expect to go directly from  a life of thinking about poverty or lack immediately into a life of amazing prosperity and abundance. Our vibrations, emotions and beliefs don’t change that quickly. When you do a sprint you are simply focused on a fast time and perhaps winning, not on any changes. When you participate in an ultramarathon, there is more concentration on completing the distance even if there’s not a large amount of speed involved. You learn more about yourself because you have time to think about your life and you have time to make changes in your strategy. Maybe you have to go slower or even take a break. You might have to stop and eat something or get more fluids. Anything can change in an ultramarathon. It’s the distance that counts and that involves understanding yourself and your environment and being prepared to handle anything that comes along. It’s a problem solving adventure. You bring what you have learned in life and in training into the event but you also know that anything can happen and to be successful, you have to be able to roll with the punches.

Be patient. Remember the Law of Gestation. You don’t plant corn and then every day yell at the ground and kick it up because it hasn’t produced an ear yet. You know it’s going to take a certain amount of time and you are patient. Same with a baby – you don’t expect to find out you’re pregnant today and then be upset that the baby hasn’t been delivered tomorrow. If you can understand that the Law of Attraction also works with the Law of Gestation and you have to continue to water and feed your desire without stirring up the dirt around it, it will blossom in its time. The most effective method is to plant your desire, increase your vibration to the point where you really do “know” it will come to you and then let it go!

I told you last week or the week before that what you give out comes back to you. I proved this again to myself this past week. I had given money to someone in much greater need and given it freely and without any expectations or attachments.  Then this past week I finally got around to going to the bank to deposit my old IRS return. I hadn’t even opened it because I “knew” how much it was for. Well, I got  into the car and started to fill out the deposit slip, slit open the envelope and started to laugh. The check was for the exact amount I had given my friend.  The exact amount! Can you believe that? I am always amazed at how the law works. That check had gestated on my desk for a very long time and then it was there to replace what I had given out. How much more evidence do you need?

You just have to take your time. You have to let things happen all the while NOT giving up on your practice of the Law. Do NOT lower your vibration by thinking “nuts, I knew it wouldn’t work”, “It’s not going to work because I don’t deserve anything good to happen”, “Why does it work for everyone else except me”. And worse yet, do not move back into your lack thinking. Because if you do, you will simply attract more lack. That is probably the hardest part. For instance, when you receive another bill, write on it and bless it. Thank it for coming to remind you of the prosperity that is yours and that the Universe is delivering to you. View that bill as a demonstration of you having plenty of money that you are so happy to pay it because you know you are helping others out there that will benefit from the income you are providing them when you pay the bill. Never look at it as “how on earth am I going to pay this?”, “see, I knew I was not going to be prosperous”, “how can I possibly be prosperous when I keep getting bills.” Think of this as you being the employer for all who have contributed service or labor leading to this statement of wealth in your hands. It’s really all about how you look (and feel) at/about your circumstances.

Try to turn all your negative thoughts around.  Start with traffic lights – call them “Go lights” as Zig Ziglar does – he says they are there to make your travel go smoother and safer. Don’t think of them as “Stop lights” – try this for a few days.

Change another word and see what a difference it makes. Instead of “have to” or “I’ve got to” do something, catch yourself and say “I get to do something.” I made a conscious effort every morning when I said goodbye to my dog. In the past I had said “I’ve got to go to work now”. Then I changed it to either “I get to go to work now” or “I am going to work now”. I eliminated any of the sensations/thoughts/feelings associated with the “have to” statement. Because you know what? I really didn’t have to go to work. I could have quit. But I was fortunate to have the job (and still am very fortunate) and so I changed my attitude to express the appreciation I have for the job. It made a great deal of difference in my outlook and I could even feel my vibrations soar when I changed that wording.

Try one or two of these things. Start training now for your ultramarathon. It won’t be over in a few minutes, days or even months. Lay the groundwork (the base training) and practice until it becomes habit for you.

Let me know how it’s going and if you have any questions. Put them in the comment box!

“What separates people that get what they want out of life from those people who do not get what they want out of life is their response to challenges.”
Dr. Steven G. Jones

Although I don’t believe this is the only thing that separates these two groups of people, it’s an extremely important point.

Think about yourself and how you respond to a challenge. Do you crawl up in a ball and want to die? Sometimes that’s ok initially. What’s not productive is when that behavior or thought process continues on and on and on. Do you get mad and decide that this is not going to beat you? That you’ll find a way to conquer the challenge, to climb up and over whatever obstacle is in your way? That is the way of the warrior, the person who excels at life.

Remember that there are two different vibrations at play when you are confronted with a problem. There is the vibration of the problem and if you continue to think about the “problem”, you will stay on that lower vibration and not move anywhere – you are focusing on the problem so that is what you’ll get more of. Maybe the problem won’t get worse but it won’t get any better either when your vibration remains on the problem.

You have to raise your vibration to the level of the solution – a much higher vibration. Instead of thinking about and focusing on the problem, concentrate on the solution. Tell the Universe you are ready to receive the answer and you know that it’s out there waiting to be delivered to you.

Think back to your past and think about when you’ve discovered a solution to something – what have you felt like when you’ve been in the process? Maybe take a look at a time at work when a problem has been identified. Everyone might respond with “oh nuts, what do we do now?” But then you all got your heads together and brainstormed until you figured it out. What kind of elation did you all feel? Use that as  “Kodak Moment” to elevate your vibration when you’re after a solution to your current problem.

I don’t even use the word problem once I’ve identified what it is. I think about how great it’s going to be when I come up with the solution to x, y, z – describing the situation if I must. Or preferably I use something that’s brief but objectively describes the situation. Then I go right back to looking for the solutions – opening my heart and mind to the Universe to deliver the answer to me.  I use some of the processes we’ve talked about – the 68 second process, rampage of appreciation and even the “wouldn’t it be nice if….”.  If you’re skeptical or it’s the first time, you can use “I’m in the process of….”

Next time you come across a challenge, immediately switch to the solution seeking mode and your vibration will automatically elevate with you! Try it, you’ll like it. Don’t dwell on the problem.  Move out and move up!
